Talos, who had thrown a good amount of wine on the unexpected patrons, gave the parting adventurers a free round of drinks.

"Well Slayer, there are some nasty destructive spells and rituals in here, along with some other information. I'll let you have a look. Here you go."

*And with that Avatara finally gives the book to someone, Slayer.*

Slayer takes the book and looks over it a little bit."Wow," he says to Avatara, "This is bad stuff. It might take me a while to get through it." Slayer takes a seat in the corner and starts reading from the beginning. He quickly develops a troubled look on his face, but continues reading.

Slayer, still examining Tavara's journal, pulls out a few sheets of paper and jots down some extremely complex calculations. After about forty minutes of writing magical script and looking generally confused, he mumbles to himself, "Ah, I see how that would work." He yells to Talos, "Could you get me some ocean water?" Slayer continues examining the book while he waits for the sea water.

Talos, hearing Slayer's request, runs out of the bar. A number of drunkards begin to help themselves to the alchohol. About fifteen minutes later, Talos, out of breath, runs through the door of the tavern. He is carrying a small iron bucket (iron is the most common metal on Cythera, as there is almost no tin) full of sea water. He hands it over to Slayer, who takes it. He then runs over to the counter, and shoos away a few near-passed out drunkards.

Rogan continues reading in his copy of Tavaras journal since no one wants to join him, Fanatic and Ferazel to the small island...

Slayer looks up from the book and thanks Talos for the sea water. Slayer then catches a rat and kills it. "Now to see if this really works," says Slayer. He casts some strange spell on the rat, which causes it to glow. He grabs the rat by its tail, dips it into the water then pulls it out. All that remains of the rat is its skeleton, which tries violently to bite Slayer's wrist. Slayer slams the rat skeleton to the ground, smashing it to pieces. "Well," says Slayer, "looks like it works." He resumes his reading and scribbling.

Talos watches Slayer in disgust, and decides to quiet the drunkards by giving them even more wine...

Slayer stops his reading and writing again. He drips some of his sea water on to the floor in a circle, then begins casting a spell. Suddenly, the water bursts into flame, gradually growing into a pillar of fire, almost to the ceiling. Out of the fire steps an enormous red, horned figure about eight feet tall. Almost immediately, the demon begins attacking Rogan and Avatara. "Stop," Slayer yells at the demon, but the demon continues battering Avatara with his fists. Slayer grabs his sword and brings it down squarely in the center of the demon's back. The demon catches on fire rapidly, then a few seconds later, both the fire and demon are gone. "Sorry about that," Slayer says to the patrons of the bar, "I thought I'd have more control over that guy." Slayer grabs a bag out of his pack and hands it to Talos. "Here's three hundred oboloi. I hope it's enough to make up for that demon. I think I'm through with the chapter on evil minions." Slayer resumes his studies.

Rogan stops reading in his copy of Tavaras journal and takes a bottle of wine. He spills the wine in a pail and puts a lit candle in it. Smoke comes up as Rogan places the pail on his table. He mutters some words, and suddenly, the pail vanish and a large fireball bursts out, sending four drunks and the northern wall into oblivion. Rogan scratch his head and says: "whoops!"

*Avatara, who was leaning against the north wall, falls backward surprised as the wall vanishes. He lands on his back admist the debris. Jumping up, he dusts himself off and glares at Rogan. He raises his hands as if to cast something, but a chunk of rock falls and knocks him unconscious, saving Rogan's life.*

Ferazel casts some spells, and the bar is repaired. He then walks outside and helps Avatara.

*Avatara's eyes snap open and he jumps up. Rogan shrinks back, but relaxes as Avatara halts. Avatara realizes he forgot to finish a big nasty report that was due tomorrow, and sits down again, ordering enough sucessive drinks he finally gets drunk.

Talos looks at the 36 now-empty kegs it took to make Avatara lose his sanity and shrugs.*

Slayer flips the page in his book, then says, "Now this one looks interesting!" He spends a couple of hours reading and re-reading the next few pages, and doing calculations. Finally, he stands up, grabs his bucket of water, and spreads it around himself in a circle. He casts a spell, then closes his eyes. Slayer's image shimmers as a duplicate of himself, made entirely out of water forms from inside him. The duplicate moves about a meter to his left, then turns into a proper duplicate of Slayer, armor and all. Slayer wobbles over to the nearest chair and collapses into it. The clone opens his eyes, looks around for a moment, then grabs Slayer's copy of Tavara's journal. He then casts a spell which causes all replicas of the journal to burst into flame. The duplicate dashes out the door with the book. Slayer rushes, as best he can, after his clone. No sooner is he out the door than he is propelled back in by a fireball. He pulls himself to his feet, then begins his announcement: "I think I'm going to need some help to defeat my clone. That spell was pretty rough on me. Anyone brave enough, speak up now." Slayer falls into a chair. He mutters to himself, "Why did I have to make an evil duplicate of myself?" Moments later, a rumbling in the distance can be heard, as a storm begins moving in.

Talos, wanting to take a break from his career as a bartender, and do some good for Cythera, puts a heavy metal lock in charge of the bar. He then runs down the street to catch up with the commotion.
