Well yeah, if you were gonna eat a hat, why eat anything but the best?

Shut up, dumbass. If there wasn't war, we'd still be under control of Great Britain, and our lives would be hell. I'm thankful that we have an all-powerful military, still have the freedom to do what we want in the U. S., and actually have people willing to lay down their lives for the innocent. Our only military threat is Cuba (only because of Dictatorship), and they don't attack us. Yeah, I may be against the war in Iraq, and the war in Afghanistan, but if it wasn't for war, the Nazis would still be around, every black person you see would be beaten every day, and, most of all, we'd still be with Great Britain. So you better shut the hell up, because war has done some wonderful things to those who deserve it!

Only reason I didn't ask her to formals then and there is because I'm not an idiot. Another friend of mine likes her too and they were both arguing with each other over my shoulder. She thinks he's kinda annoying and didn't want to sit with him. Unfortunately she dragged me along to another seat with her so I'm pretty sure he got ticked at me as well. I didn't want them to get even more ticked at each other or me. Besides, I gave the "I considered asking you earlier since I didn't have anyone I could ask, and I wanted to go." excuse. Really lame. Plus, I wouldn't have the nerve to ask her on a date date. Going to a dance sure, but not a date date.

Wow, is that taken from this website?

The reason I ask is that I actually know the guy who runs that site. Ex-coworker. Cool guy, as you might expect.

Improve yourself. That means get off the internet, meet real people, and go to the gym.

Seriously. It works.

Oh.. and poetry-- not the way to win over a girl.

Was that a "whoosh" sound I heard?

As one of my old friends would say, "Come a bit closer, I've got something to tell you..." right before smacking me when I expected it least. He did that to me when I said that taking a girl out to a dance wasn't the same as a "date." Yeah, right...

There's a difference between "in shape" and "uber muscly". I've yet to meet a girl who dislikes flat abs and broad biceps.

...

Let's get this straight: She dragged you along to sit with her, steered the conversation to the upcoming dance, and pointed out that she would go to the dance with you.

She wants to go to the dance with you.

Now, due to the weird and stilted gender dynamics our society continues to enforce, girls still vastly prefer for the guy to be the one to go out on a limb and actually do the asking. However, the lady in question has done everything short of putting up a billboard to signal her interest in you.

Ask her out.

To the dance, on a date, whatever. Sure, it's a nerve-wracking to ask a girl out, but trust me, it won't get easier until you've done it a few times and learned that success is a very real possibility and rejection not nearly as bad as feared.

Not to mention that rejection is pretty much not going to happen after all the signs she put up.

Unless she's just ######ing with you. But despite how much you see that on TV and in the movies, I don't think I've ever actually seen someone do that to someone else. At least not like that, anyway.

no they dont, they get worse. you graduate high school and your mother all but chucks you out, and the economy is in such a mess that apartments costs a minimum of 600 dollars a month and jobs pay a maximum of 500 so you end up moving into your father's basement. Also you have no real friends, are incapable of going places and hanging out, and less self confidence than a rotted post with women.

There are plenty of women who will still go out with you, even with all that going on. Back in my apartment maintenance days, one of the tenants I knew went by the name "Spooky." That was his name because he was never all there. This dude was a skinny Hispanic guy who was half bald with a hair lip, rotten teeth, and the largest ears you've ever seen in your life, sticking straight out the sides of his head. He generally looked like a ridiculous caricature of a mentally retarded adult. Sure enough, he was a mentally retarded adult with the IQ of a third grader. He lived off of his monthly welfare check and his rent was paid by Section 8.

The thing is, Spooky had himself a wife and three kids. And he wasn't nice; his wife frequently was sporting new bruises whenever we saw her.

So, we have a poor, ######ed-up looking retard who beats women, and he still managed to find himself a wife and reproduce. The strangest thing is, there wasn't really anything wrong with her. She wasn't a great looker or anything, but she was relatively trim for having three kids with a average-ish face, she had no mental disability issues of her own as far as I could tell, and she always was a nice person whenever we ended up dealing with her.

My example of Spooky goes to prove that you need not have anything at all going for you to get yourself a girl. There are plenty of decent girls out there who want nothing more than a warm male body and some sperm. The fact that you have no money and are living in your dad's basement affects neither of those attributes. Granted, I shouldn't think that there are too many of these women cruising around the campus of your local university (there are some, but they're likely already married), but they do exist.

If she refuses your number, ask if she'd just like to go back to your place and ######. Hey, at this point it's not like you can look more ridiculous, and there is a non-zero chance that a woman might someday say yes to that. :P

That aside, undead has an excellent point. When asking a woman out, it's always a good idea to have your number written down on a scrap of paper or something in your pocket if you really did think she was interested, but got spooked by something. I don't think I've ever gotten a call off of handing out my number post-rejection (or email address - email being less of an on-the-spot type of thing, a particularly shy girl might feel more comfortable with that medium), but I know guys who have. In fact, one of my friends has been going out for over a year with a girl who he got this way; turns out she really did like him, but was spooked at the time by the fact that he seemed a lot older than she was. Turns out he was older (25-19 at the time), but she decided that it didn't really matter a couple days later and gave him a call.
