Several ideas for next TS have already been proposed elsewhere. For convenience (and to perhaps motivate people), I have decided to collect them here.

(Please inform me if I missed any.)

(Note: I am starting this topic for convenience and to motivate discussion, not because I find anything wrong with any of the already proposed ideas.)

I know there's already some serious(?) ideas for the next TS, but I had some I thought sounded fun and different from the last couple so I'll share them here to see if anyone's interested.

They both run along the same idea: "The Search for Deep Water" It was a puzzle in the game, now the TS world is also plagued by this mystory.

1) Fisherman across Cythera have been reporting little to no fish in their nets. Experts in the field believe the cause is the shrinking source of deep water, the only nesting ground for the local species of the fishy variety. With growing concern a wealthy nobleman sends out an add (with legs) to search out those brave enough to seek out and remedy the problem of, Un-deep water.

2) A wealthy nobleman's only dream has been to fish. He's been to experts and purchased the finest equipment and still one hurdle remains that he cannot pass, deep water. Driven to extreme measures, he has now constructed a powerful ship to brave the tretchurous waters surrounding Cythera's shores. Now all he needs is a crew strong enough and mad/dull enough to tag along as he goes out to search for deep water.

Quote

The Phynx Investigation and Zombification: Little word has come as of late from the lands of the West of Cythera, and now there is talk of terrible creatures controling the area. The mother city Cademia sends a search party to investigate, but of all the brave men who went only one returns. Limping back with only three limbs left, his skin crawls but he will not stop untill he makes it back. He steps through the gates and colapses infront of the startled gaurds, "Inside!" he gasps, then dies. "Mage, fetch a mage!" A guard cries to an onlooker, but before the passerby can run for help he stunned by the sight of the man with arm pulling him self off the ground, his skin somehow, moving. Like a whip a tentacle lashes out at the guard tearing into his arm. The terrifying man quickly starts to tug his prey to him, but is met with a second and final death as a heavy club grinds his head with a bone-chrunching sound. Now Cademia rest uneasy, in wait of what next might fall upon their doorstep. Word reaches Alaric and a mark is sent out for those brave enough to rid the darkness that has consumed Phynx before it spreds further.

Another idea that was discussed on irc a little bit ago and that has been mentioned on the boards several times is that of a "mirror" universe TS, in which the characters have to contend with alternate versions of themselves.

There has been some more discussion on this and several interesting ideas and possibilities were mentioned. Personally, I think it could be quite fun. I'm not, however, certain how much has been positively agreed upon, so I cannot give very many details at the moment.

The main problems seem to me to be a lack of people and the amount of effort it might require for some.

So, any other ideas? Suggestions? Comments?

Also, who's still here?

When might be a good time to start next TS? (I had hoped for sometime over the break, but there is almost no one around. I have also found that my break is about a week shorter than I had expected, although I'm fine with whatever time works for everyone else.)

I'd reply to this topic, but I can't think of anything to say right now.

I've probably said this before somewhere, but I still want to do the mirror universe TS. Mostly because I want to write an evil Wizard. Although I think Selax had mentioned possibly doing another short TS while we set up a mirror universe TS. That sounds like a good idea to me, so maybe it wasn't Selax's idea after all. . . :P

I believe it's been discussed since before y'all's time ^_~

(though since y'all have been around longer than me, I may be misremembering what I've read.)

You could do two at once (especially since the fishing one sounds like it wouldn't use the same characters). You know its going to slow down anyway, why not have a second world to flip to when you run up against a wall? :P

I don't know...I'm dubious about having enough people to do one.

Are more people likely to participate if two were tried?

I would like to do this as a TS. I would still like to use my idea of bringing the characters and storyline back to being simple. The idea in my opinion works. We don't even have to have normal enemies that fight back. It could just be the crew, the ravenous hunger of the sea and some rather nasty leeches.

On the note of two separate T's. I would not participate in a mirror universe Ts. And its up to you whether or not you want to run two at once.

A simple TS might be a good idea. After all, Ruffian Encampment (a simpler TS) occurred right before Yesterday's Dawn (the most successful TS in recent years, in my opinion), although that is not necessarily enough evidence to accurately gauge the effects of such TSs.

In any case, I've done some thinking about a mirror universe TS, but I'm holding off on proposing my ideas until I've heard more from other potential participants and coordinators (needed if I'm accurately remembering the discussion done so far). I'm inclined to doubt that there are enough people right now as well.

I had almost forgotten that.

Of course, if Tyrael were dead, you could all take comfort in the fact that I'd still be around to tyrannize you

Hmm, I'm inclined to doubt that there are enough people interested in a TS at the moment for one to to be started.

Who wants to write with me?

I have an idea that I could start a story with a growing cast. I'd start the story and it'd stay a chron until someone wanted to join in which case either of two thing could happen: I'd give them a character to play or we'd work together to make a fitting character.

This would give enough direction so that dry spots are avoided and therefore character interaction is achieved. It's not designed to hinder creativity or originality, once someone has their character they're free to do what they wish with it, much like now. If they ever choose to stop then all they have to do is say so and the character takes a pause, retires, dies, ect.

The main aspect of this method would be direction since there is a clear lead and connection between the players. We all don't have to agree with this, but if I have at least one person who wants to do this, then I'll start it.

I'm not really sure when I'll next have time to participate. I don't expect the pace of school to slacken until the summer, really.

My own ideas for a TS are somewhat grandiose, I'm afraid, and I'm not sure they'll even be doable.

Back when we were all young, knew how to have fun, & had our Bags of Holding™ full of Time®, your grandiose schemes might have been Small Beans, but at this time I think we need something more flexible, like maybe Pippin3's idea.

As to where I am, I am not sure.

How do we expect to run a TS when people aren't even finding time to post in a simple thing like The Duel? If it's just too restrictive I'll consider loosening it up a little.

I find it too resticting and redunant. Even if it is a good exercise.
