Incidentally, I started the other TS...so why has no one besides me posted in it?

I'm waiting to ask Selax about my character, but I'm never on IRC at the same time as him sad.gif

[edit] Since I managed to miss you again by all of one minute, I'll just ask here. I was going to make my character an archer, because there hasn't been one made for this TS yet and someone who uses non-magical ranged weapons seems like a useful addition to the group. I'm not sure if archers are canon types in Cythera though, and/or if it'd be considered close enough to the Cythera world to be acceptable anyway? I skimmed through the rest of this thread but I'm not entirely sure how close we're meant to be sticking to the game world.

As for why I'm asking you, it's because you seem to know the most about the game and were the one who started the TS. And whenever someone asks Avatara about the game he hedges and says he isn't sure about anything tongue.gif

Since I was recently fished out of oblivion and all I'm not really well versed in all the little details about this new character driven TS, but I'd like to try my hand if that's alright. I was thinking of a Thief character, late 20s early 30s, little bits of leather armor, weathered iron dagger, decent at picking locks and good at sneaking around, kind of shady but a nice guy. I'm developing him in my head now, but is that a fitting character for this TS? I wonder.

Welcome back! ^_^
Sounds like a fairly typical member of the Rat-catcher's Guild. As far as I can recall, none of the details you gave are counter to Cythera canon. For more information check out Slayer's Guide, you can find it in the pinned section of this board.

The stats for a Rogue are:
Body: 16
Reflex: 18
Mind: 14
-Attack (2)
-Trap
-Awareness
-Locks
My Cythera Boards characters:
Silverfish: 1.52ft/46.3cm Tall
Mitsos/Pirro: Canonically statted
Don't forget to write Cythera Chronicles!

Thank you kindly sir, that sounds good to me. Question: Do we need to do numbered stats and listed abilities? Because I never actually played the game, so I wouldn't know what was what...

I was going to go with clever and acrobatic but not very strong, with the conditioning to run from the fights he thinks he can't win (i.e. most of them). I can just write up a profile without stats, but I don't want to screw up the flow here.

Yay, you decided to come back!

I thought more people were skipping over the numerical stats, but now that I look at the character info thread I'm the only one who hasn't. Unless someone finds me some archer stats though, I'll probably leave them out because I don't understand them either.

That said, Ragnar0k, I'm pretty sure they're just a ballpark figure to help other people write your character; we won't be getting into D&D-style mathematical combat scenes. You could try adjusting the rogue stats to fit what you had in mind, or leave them out. You can also reference the char info people have already posted; each post for this TS is marked with 'Time: Immediately after the game (different from previous TS continuity)' to differentiate from the usual characters. smile.gif

heh, nice to be back thanks. Glad we're not rolling for the fights, that would be really complicated. I'm going to draw up a character profile real soon, without the numbered stats, and if I need to add them in later I'll do that.

So how many people are in Blazing Trails and does it have an off topic thread?

Good to see you around, Ragnar0k smile.gif .

At the moment, only three people have posted in the TS and I'm not sure what's happened to everyone else. There isn't an OoC topic yet, partially because I have no idea what to call it.

Also, I'm still not sure what the main quest is to be. At the moment, we're just trying to recruit people.

I just added stats in my character's profile as a general idea of his strength, so it's not really necessary.

I think part of the idea of the statting is to help us remember the limitations we're under as a (mas o menos) strictly game-based TS.

Hey Ragnarok; nice to see you!

I plan on joining Blazing Trails, but I can't think of a character to use. I mostly need a name for one. Does anyone have any suggestions? Selax will undoubtedly suggest Bert, so I'll answer in advance: no.

Does it have to be a Sesame Street character? Even if it doesn't, I think Big Bird is a name worthy of reverence.

Thanks Wizard!

Normally I would say that the name depended on the type of character, but since we're all gearing towards a more realistic group I'd say the name should be something more or less ordinary (with a Cytheran twist of course).

You have heroes with heroic names like "Hector", so "Jason" would be fitting in the setting. If that's not what you want you could always try:

- Killian
- Crusoe
- Lambert (a nod to Selax's idea)
- Drex
- Ethan

Or anything real that sounds interesting to you (adjust spelling where you feel it's necessary). That's how I did it anyway. Hopefully this at least inspires you.

I have to admit I named my character after Erika from Pokémon...

Alon is named after my 18 month old nephew. I just spelled the name phonetically.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! "Jason" is actually a pretty good suggestion. I'll need to give this a little more thought, but I hope to join the new TS soon.
