Also Yomu might have a special peice of gear for Muse once he gets his pouch back, if you inquire about it.
Speaking of cheif ruffians it looks like the evil lord is running out of options to deal with the following party. Maybe it's time he sent his hardened ruffians after them?
"You there stay here and make sure no one follows! Await long enough and you shall meet with your reward! *snicker*", "Yes sir! *grin*".
"Eh, we've waited so long no one's gonna show! Hey wait... What's that in the sky...? "A bird?", "To big!", "A frog?!" "A frog?... What the hell man?", the ruffian said giving a disaproving look to the other ruffian. "AIn't no frog! Crap thats a wyr-"
Onto the rocky flats near the mountain!

Things we can do with the tree:
Apple's grant great power.
Apples kill eater and make a new tree. (out of the user)
Apple's grant eternal life.
A branch of the tree could be fashioned into a staff which is very powerful. (life: god like power?)
Leaves could be made into a potion which will rescue you from death when it's moment has arrived.
Apples make a great cider.
Apples make a terrible foul tasting cider.
Apples could make one as Alaric link the eaters life with the lands. (But he's evil!) Therefor we would have to disconnect the link while trying to beat the eater.
Tree talks to you about it's hard days at work.
Apples contain a worm which travels to you intestine laying eggs wich give you a terrible desease. This desease criples you forever binding you to a wheelchair, and slowly and painfuly the egss hatch and death comes... (But that would be depressing!)
The tree is not a tree but rather the tree represents something, and what is really in the valley is _____.
The tree is a tree and the apples or apples.

Apples grant you truesight: ability to see through illusions and metaphor and secrets at will. No information can be concealed from you, and you can see the world as it truly is. In a word, omniscience.
Apples give you admin access on the Ambrosia boards. (Sorry, couldn't resist dropping in that one.)
The apples are apples. You want the other Tree of Life, the one with the oranges on it.

Also I think we should remember that there's only three apples on the tree, that's pretty limited ^_^
Edit: By the way, I think the good cider idea wins :D

I agree with this idea
seeing as it's in the game itself
an I'm all for irony XD
I also like the other idea, the one that's kinda like the one in "The Fountain" where eating from the tree actually turns you into a tree
eternal life is eternal life....there was never any specification of what form of life
irony again!
One of the bad guys could get to it first then turn into a tree, therefore killing 2 birds with one stone because now:
the bad guy is dead
and we know what happens when you eat from the Tree
Either way...I personally think it should have some such life giving powers...what with the name being the Tree of Life
Also I was thinking.....
I'm sure you're all familiar with the Biblical story of Adam and Eve and the Tree and such
There were the 2 trees,: the Tree of Life & the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil
the Tree of Knowledge was forbidden, but of course they ate from it then got kicked out of the Garden of Eden
sooooo....I was thinking....MAYBE, you need to bring back what was taken
I know it sounds silly but it's just an idea remember
perhaps this box can contain the core or husk or whatnot of the fruit that was taken [because they only took one and shared it]
someone found it and petrified it or something so it wouldn't turn to dust or whatnot..or something, then they kept it in a silver box until they found the tree [but of course they didn't find it, and the box has been passed from generation to generation, maybe even Ponce De Leon could have had it at some point]
In any case, the importance of this fruit is that it needs to be returned for the Tree of Life to work properly
maybe you need to return the remains of the fruit to the Tree of Knowledge and bury it at the base of the tree.
If you don't and then you proceed to eat from the Tree of Life, it will simply turn you into a tree [a sort of glitch that was created when the tree of Knowledge lost its fruit]
But if you DO return the fruit, eating from the Tree of Life will grant you....something
maybe it will allow you to live forever, sort of like in the Bible, though I'm not sure if in that case the tree was necessarily the cause of Adam and Eve's initial immortality...all I know is they were going to live forever before they got kicked out and cursed...and they were allowed to eat from that tree. When they got kicked out and cut off from eating that tree is when they began to age and die.
or maybe it will make it so that you'll never need to eat again [as was suggested earlier]
just a suggestion, I'm not offended if it seems silly to you, lol

This would mean that the ruffians were stalking the person who sent Yomu on the mark to retreive the box and the killed the pick-up before Yomu was able to meet them. Needing Wizard and the box they stormed the tavern and set fire to the ceiling where Yomu lay asleeps. As the fire grew the ceiling colapsed with everything but Yomu. Yomu's pouch was stollen by the ruffians and now they're trying to figure out how to open it, "Gah! "All that I am to the worthy[/i]?! What does it mean?!". This would also mean that currently the enemy party isn't heading for the tree of life but rather to someone who can retreive the key (iKey yay!). Little do they know that someone or something has sent that person into our party. (Muse)
I don't know if we should include the tree of knowledge, mainly because it wasn't in the game and the effects of the apple could be up to us because it looks likes Glen didn't have enough time (or didn't want to) to program the effects of the apples. How about when you present the apple to the tree the apple glows, floats over to the tree, un-petrifies, and becomes one with the tree again, ..., nothing happens. Untill! you take the apple once more and then your taken away to the garden of eden, but if you eat the apple... *BAM* your a tree!
I hope we aren't getting ahead of ou selves!

Not trying to block anyone else from the slow part of the group, just assuming that most of them fit in the normal category of wanting to be up at the 'cutting-edge'
Silverfish is on the alert for danger, but doesn't really expect anything worse than a stray Polyp that wasn't near enough to be crushed by the Vanguard.

EDIT: I'm assuming that the group has traveled quite a bit south already. Otherwise, they would have reached the mountains earlier.

Careful short ranged melee attacks won't hit the wyvern. Muse if your character still isn't comfortable with spells just yet, if Yomu can get to his pouch you can ask for something to defend your self. Yomu might all have something of the heavens from a city of water folk, to help him reach the flying foe. Alright guys (and girls) lets get creative in this on the mountain/in the air fight scene. And if you want to know what a Wyvern looks like, hit up google images. Though it really just looks like a flying lizard!
EDIT: While thinking up cool and creative battle scenes listen to this song from a game I like called Final Fantasy XII:

Lesson 1: Basic Control (Or, How to Avoid Blowing Up Everything in Sight)
Lesson 2: Advanced Control (Or, How to Control Your Power Enough to Be Able to Do Something With It)
Lesson 2 1/2: Basic Magic (Types of Magic)
Lesson 3: Basic Magic 1 (Fire Spells)
Lesson 4: Basic Magic 1 (More Fire Spells)
(Note: Apparently fire is one of the easiest things to do if you're a mage. After that, the book asks for an area you kind of want to focus on. Examples would be Offensive Magic, Healing, Defensive Magic, Runes, Alchemy, Useful Magic, etc., or some combination of those.
Note 2: If you're doing offensive magic, Fire magic is fast and easy, Air magic is powerful and pretty easy, and the combination of those two is particularly fast and powerful, plus causes a lot of trouble. I'm referring to lightning. Earth magic is for someone sort of 'in tune' with nature-- it's powerful, but slow, and can backfire and/or cause repercussions you don't know about. Water magic is hard to pull off, as water can be tough to control, or even actively resist magic. Ice is the one exception to this.
Note 3: Sorry if I just single-handedly remade the Cytheran Magic system. I figured spells can be allied with up to 2 'elements', but the only ones doing that are either offensive spells or those that need to be. Most spells are 'unaffiliated'.)
Muse, I figured you can be as far along as far along in the magic tutorial as you want to be-- still learning control, or ready to cast something nasty/start healing/whatever.
EDIT: I figured I'd attach some music that'll get you in the mood too. This is from Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Rapierian was suggesting that they take another path (although this risks losing the trail left by Wizard's kidnappers) that would put them in front of their enemy's likely destination. (After all, there are only so many ways that one can go up a mountain.) Silver would continue to follow Wizard's kidnappers, making use of his ability to fly to keep in contact with the rest of the group.

Yup! Pine needles. In case you think that isn't so bad, imagine that you have a small room, with tapestries covering the walls, & heavy curtains, thick carpet, nice heavy blankets on the bed... & every single bit of textile is oozing with Vicks or Pine-sol. Get the idea? *evil-grin*

There seem to be a high number of "common" (i.e. common to all mage branches) spells, such as lightning or fireball. There seem to be three main branches that mages can train in: Runic magic, healing magic, or alchemy (I may be forgetting something).
However, I don't know if any of this conflicts with what you have: I'm just posting it in case it can be of any use to you .
