The golem went back to punching the now empty cage, ignoring Cat.
Somewhat surprised, Cat carefully took off her boots, tied them to her belt, and leapt down on the golem. This time, she hung on to its back with three sets of claws, and scratched the golem with her others. The golem tried to reach her, but its arms weren't made to reach backwards, and it couldn't touch her. After nearly a minute, she leapt back up into the rafters and put her boots back on, letting someone else have a go at fighting the (now badly scratched) golem.

He stood up and surveyed the damage, "good thing that mug was metal," he muttered to himself, "otherwise it could have been much worse."
Several nearby patrons were looking suspiciously at their suddenly eroded dinnerwere, so Silverfish left the Tavern quickly to find ruffians willing to 'donate' some metal to him.

Rapierian shrugged and walked back over to Uzsuy's table and to his pile of bones. In a few moments, Rapierian had raised two or three skeletons to function as his bodyguards.
"Thank you, sir," he told Uzsuy, "I'll have to remember not to pester you as much as everyone else in here."
Spotting Cat in the rafters above the golem, Rapierian had a sudden idea. He lifted his hands and flung a bolt of lightning at the beam that Cat was sitting on. Although Cat was unhurt (as Rapierian had intended), the beam burst into splinters, sending her tumbling down toward the now very angry golem.

"I had 'im! Who stopped me? Lemme at 'im!" Cat hissed.
{{ My goodness, did I do that? }} Mort experimented a little, pointing one bony finger at the levitating cat elf, and flicking it minutely up and down. Cat bobbed up and down with each tiny movement. {{ I think I've got the hang of it, }} Mort commented. His eyes suddenly glowed wickedly, and he began to raise Cat up towards the roof.
Since it seemed Mort was going to push her through the ceiling, Cat braced her feet against it and pushed back as hard as she could. "Hey, Mort, I was only trying to help, you know? Don't hurt me! Please?"
{{ Ready, Cat? }} Mort asked. Cat finally caught on, and grinned ferally at her target, still hopping around down below.
Mort let go, and Cat sprang.
*OoC* OK, I'm on dialup from this evening, so I wanted to get one semi-decent post in before I left. I'll try to keep up with things, but don't count on me. *BiC*

"All right!" she said happily, then noticed Rapierian and his skeleton bodyguards.
"Hmmm...". Cat thought about the chances of Rapierian having the necessary ingredients required to kill her, deliberated about the worst he could do to her, and decided it wasn't really worth trying to claw his head off too. She wandered over to the bar and ordered a drink.

A few moments later the dirt soldified into a golem. Talryn cheered and asked it to go get him a drink, when it returned, Talryn manipulated the golem a bit and it smiled and then sat on the floor near its new master. Woot, i have my own golem now. This might actually come in handy on my next adventure. Talryn glanced over at Rapierian to see his reaction.

"Good time of day, fair Apis." he began, "Do you have a vacancy I could fill?"
"I wish I did, but you outlandish folk tend to scare away the regulars. So I'm afraid I don't. Have you asked at the Alraeican Tavern?"
"I was hoping not to be seen there until I took care of something."
"Try the back door, Brianna or Rana would be happy to keep it secret for a bit."
"Thank-you, fair Apis. May your house overflow with good things!" He gave her a brand-new tankard for her trouble, and sneaked off to the Alraeican Tavern.
An hour later, Silverfish was inspecting the deadbolt he had just installed on the inside of his door. He was glad that Brianna had such a small room for him to stay in; although a slightly bigger room would be more reasonable, a full sized room would be a waste of space, and less private. He looked around the cabinet with an air of satisfaction, laid down on the floor, and closed his eyes...

After drinking and observing the golem and discovered that it would stay, meaning it wouldn't fall apart because he didn't summon it right, Talryn began to wonder if he could summon a fire golem...

Running his hand over his face, Wizard concentrated on lengthening his now considerably-shorter beard. From Talryn's view, it looked as though the hair was being pulled from Wizard's face, following his hand by some unseen force.
Presently, Wizard had finished. "There that's better," he said, his expression now pleased, "Don't you think so, Selax?"
Selax glanced at the old man before asking, "Better than what?"
Wizard sighed and adjusted his position. "Elementals." He then turned to Talryn, "Anyways, you were trying to tell me something, Talryn?"

If anyone wants to distract Selax (i.e. draw him away from Wizard) for Rapierian, just have Rapierian approach your character and ask for help in doing so.
*BiC*
Rapierian stared at Mort in exasperation: the potion in that vial seemed to have done nothing at all. (Rapierian sincerely doubted that Mort's telekiness was tied to it anyway.) Turning, he saw Talryn's golem, stared at it for a moment, and shrugged; it was really no business of him.
Then, something occurred to him.
Rapierian walked over to Talryn and said, "If you are thinking about trying to summon a fire golem, I don't recommend it. Such attempts often end up blowing thing, such as the summoner, up. Of course, I don't really know your abilities, so you might be able to manage it."
Talryn looked startled and stared at Rapierian suspiciously.
"Are you reading my mind or something?" he asked.
"No, it's just that the first thing that most people think of when they first manage to make a golem is 'can I make it out of fire,'" answered Rapierian in a distracted tone. He was staring thoughtfully at Wizard.
Hmm, well, it is Christmas, so we should have a Santa, thought Rapierian to himself. That crazy old man is close to looking like Santa, just needs a few minor changes, but how I can do those changes with that bulldog of an elemental around? I wonder if I could find someone willing to distract him for me...

Mort sank deeper and deeper into his memories.

Alice plucked up the courage to try and strike up a converstaion with Mort, again. He turned, just in time to see the last vestiges of the lich fade away, and a sign fade into existence in his place. The sign read:
"This space is occupied by Mort, and don't you forget it. If you ignore this warning and sit in this spot, there will be consequences. Very icky consequences. You have been warned."

Alice blinked in surprise at the seat previously occupied by Mort just seconds ago. He looked around quickly, but no one else seemed to have noticed. "Did I do that?" he asked the air, puzzled. "But I didn't do anything! Um... I'm sorry?"
He peered at the sign again. "Icky consequences... what defines icky... and is that only if you try and sit there? This would be so much easier if he just used a mannequin..." Perplexed, Alice put his hand out and attempted to poke the sign.

"What are you doing?" Wizard growled.
"Well, it isn't quite a little golden watch, but I'm certain that it will work!" Rapierian answered. He then began to wave the string back and forth in front of Wizard's face.
"You are getting sleepy...very sleepy...any moment now you'll fall asleep—"
At this point, Wizard abruptly that Rapierian's skeletons had sneaked up behind him and surrounded him. He started to turn—too late.
The skeletons threw several vials—and a Santa hat—at him. Some of the vials hit his robe and turned it red. One hit his beard and turned it completely white. The hat fell snugly on his head. Then, Rapierian pulled out a sign that read "Come and see Santa, kids" and put it on the table in front of Wizard.
Rapierian started to howl his mad laughter. Wizard lost his patience and dove across the table on top of Rapierian.
"You aren't acting much like jolly ol' Saint Nick," Rapierian stated in a disappointed tone as they rolled around on the floor.
Violence ensued.
Wizard attempted to telekinetically smash Rapierian with several tables, which were blocked by the necromancers bodyguards. Rapierian and his skeletons attempted to strange Wizard with the Santa hat.
After a few minutes, the other patrons in the Tavern broke the fight up, and they all returned to their original spots.
Rapierian read the sign that Mort had left and smiled as an idea came to him. He turned to several of the other patrons.
"Does anyone here have a bomb? I want to see if I can rig his seat to blow up when he comes back," he asked, although he knew that Mort might hear he didn't really care. Seeing their expressions, he hastily added, "Don't worry! He'll be fine since he's already dead. It'll add excitement to his life! He'll be thrilled!"

"I don't think that's a good idea." Moonshadow remarked disapprovingly, her eyes flashing. "The hallucination stunt was funny, I grant you that, but everything else you've pulled off between then and now was either distasteful or destructive, and almost all of it was obviously meant to cause harm." She raised her hand, pointing it at each skeleton in turn until the magic holding them together faded, never taking her eyes off Rapieran. "I'd very much appreciate if you stop now, as long as I still have some patience left." At that point, the bones littering the floor were dissolving into fine dust. "I've seen and dealt with worse, and I really just want my peace for now." A slight breeze picked up again in the common room, blowing the dust out of the door. Moonshadow dropped her hand to her side, satisfied that at least the skeleton problem was dealt with, though she wasn't sure that she had gotten the message across to the human. In any case, she wasn't about to drop her guard in his presence anytime soon. "Don't think I won't stop you if you try hurting anyone else."
*OoC: Nothing personal Selax. Moonshadow appreciates harmless humor, but she just doesn't find hurting others funny, and her patience is almost at an end now. She will try to stop any more harmful actions from Rapieran, and if any get directed at her, she'll retaliate. Thought someone should finally directly confront Rapieran. ^^*

In another part of the Tavern, Silverfish was trying to talk to Shi'nayne. He proffered an elegant, thimble sized goblet to her and bowing said, "I am terribly sorry for my earlier inconsiderateness, and beg for your gracious pardon."

Cat was watching the show closely, and was about to intervene when Rapierian turned Wizard's robe red, but resided when Moonshadow did instead. She kept one eye on Rapierian for any signs of trouble.

Talryn returned inside after the 'Santa' incident and the skeletons have been dusted, and saw Wizard getting up off of the floor. Talryn helped Wizard back to his table and sat down in scilence.

Moonshadow shrugged. "You haven't even reached your fifth decad, yet. You're scarcely out of your infancy, there's time enough if you change your mind."
Brianna laughed. "I couldn't concentrate long enough. Nothing holds my attention for long unless it's wild and free. Come to think of it, it's been too long since I spent any time in the forest. Maybe I need a holiday."
She suddenly frowned, and sniffed delicately. After a moment, she seemed to shrink out of sight below the bar. A large black panther reared up in her place, resting the soft pads of its front paws on the top of the counter. It also tested the air, with a sense of smell far more sensitive than Brianna's. Brianna morphed back to her own form, thought for a moment, and made her way to the back store room. She returned with her longbow and a quiver of arrows, which she leaned in a corner where they would be near at hand.
Moonshadow quizzically cocked an eyebrow at her.
"Something's coming," Brianna responded.
Moonshadow nodded. "Of course, you do have a kind of magic of your own," she commented.

Moonshadow tilted her head to the side, gazing thoughtfully at Brianna. "I hope it's nothing too nasty." She remarked. "I was hoping to get some quiet today."
Brianna blinked. "Then.. why did you come here in the first place?" She inquired, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Why indeed?" Moonshadow said, and Brianna grinned.
"Because you missed us, of course." She answered Moonshadow's rhetoric question.
The older elf rolled her eyes, but smiled back. "That must be it." She agreed softly.

"What's the problem? You look scared."
"It's...I have to hide!" Cat jumped back up into the rafters and pulled her cloak around her. To Moonshadow's astonished eyes, the girl vanished.
The elf focussed her magic, and thought she caught a glimpse of Cat huddled next to a beam, but it might have been imagination.
That's strong magic! Moonshadow thought, impressed. I wonder how she did that?

She crossed the tavern swiftly, keeping a wary eye on Rapierian, and seated herself in the far corner at the table beneath Cat's hiding place. "I don't know what's chasing you," she began quietly, her soft voice pitched to carry to the rafters, "but hiding up there isn't going to make it go away." She paused, thinking on what to say next. "I assume you overheard Brianna and me. I also assume you have an idea of what is coming. If it's chased you all the way, it's not likely to stop now... and I would like to know as much as you can tell me. At least that way, we will be prepared." She tilted her head back, trying to catch a glimpse of the frightened elf. "We can't help you very well, otherwise."
