Generally, LifeKnight, Conservatives care about what's best for them, and screw everyone else.

Much like liberals, we think that what the other side is doing is wrong. I'll admit that liberals are a bit more open to social change. That's why they're called liberals. Still, they have a strong aversion to God and (most!) religion, and that's what makes me opposed to them.

That was a joke, reffering to something spl_cadet said. Like most of my post.

Talk to you about that after the 1000 year reign of Christ on Earth, although whether you'll be next to me or below me is really up to you.

Now you're just being silly.

Can you please leave religion out of it for a while? You are ruining any credibility you ever had. Please, remember that the majority of the people here don't share your unwavering faith, and that causes us to not take you seriously when you talk about biblical fiction as if it was fact.

You forget, liberals are religious too. We don't have a strong aversion to God, we have strong support of separation of church and state, because religion's place is in the soul, not in the Capitol.

All right... All right...

I'm a registered Republican but sometimes I get really tired of this whole party mess.

I want a leader who is honest, well intentioned, knows what they're doing and is going to be the right guy for the job. Sometimes I feel like republican, democrat or no I just want someone who's going to take care of the country, look out for out best interests and not have any kind of corrupt power scheme taking place in the background.

I'm also a Christian which is probably why I tend to agree with Conservatives more (abortion, drugs, etc.) but, I just want the best guy for the job to be in the whitehouse.

With all the mud that's flying around right now, it makes it pretty hard for me to decide about the next election. Guess that's going to be a constant for every election though.

You're a good example of why people need to stop hearing about Jesus.

While I agree with some of the issues at the core of your argument there, buddy, you're going about it a little bit wrong...

I fear our nation is losing it's view of true democracy - Democracy is founded on this principal: Minority Rights, Majority Rule

By giving citizens the freedoms to express themselves and the press the freedom to critique the world around them and the government at large, we are doing all we can to preserve the core values of freedom we love so much. Along with these freedoms, however, can come problems - responsibility is the price we must pay. It's usually abused.

The media was established to police the government and allow freedom of speech. It keeps people clean and honest if they know they know their are eyes focused on their back. The media, however, is a megaphone. It is a megaphone to anyone who will come and claim it, meaning that we lose a balance which once existed more equally in the days before mass communications.

The "majority" is exactly that - the majority. It is Joe Schmo who gets up in the morning, puts on his shoes, fires up his car and drives to work. He has a life, he has things occupying his time and his mind and he doesn't have time to play politics - welcome to representative democracy. The majority of the U.S.A. wakes up, goes to work, comes home and goes back to bed.

Now - the minority. There are people in this world who are motivated enough, for whatever reason, to stand out from the crowd. They are the people who, generally, have better demographics and a different take on the world. This difference is enough to ram a taser to their rear and get them up and running.

The minority is generally driven by a single, outstanding factor in their lives that causes them to stand out. As can be very clearly seen in recent popular television shows/sitcoms, etc. the minority grabs the megaphone and screams. Without a life devoted to the cause of the majority (which is pretty much just living) the minority (some of them at least) have the time and motivation to effect a wave of change within popular culture that is not representitive of the true feelings throughout the majority of Middle America.

------- If you skipped all that than here it is: Posted Image

My problem is that the little man has the megaphone and someone needs to take it away.

Isn't it interesting how we're getting political and religious debates everywhere these days?

*ahem*

1) Jesus has a place, and that place is church. Deal with it.
2) What ideas, exactly, are false?
3) You and people like you are the minority. We're all laughing at you.

Not the first word i'd use, but sort of.....that's the sort of conversation i like to avoid becasue neither side gets anywhere and everyone is somehow offended.

In that LifeKnight has some interesting approaches to all this - yes. But I do believe that a rather large portion of the U.S. population considers themselves Christian and a fair deal more than that share some kind of theological belief - apologies I don't have any numbers.

" The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies."
