bumped into this webbased game over in Just Games. looks pretty cool. Basically an online turn-based EV/O with a browser-based interface. Maybe we can all sign up as Independent and wreak havoc as the ARES alliance or something lol Posted Image [url="http://"http://www.stonefire.net/guide.html#intro"]http://www.stonefire...uide.html#intro[/url]

hmm check this out:

Quote

Colonization
Uninhabited planets can be colonized by players. These new states can be incorperated into an existing government or can be used to found a new government. Once a colony has been established, it will begin to generate an income daily (This will grow with the colony). To colonize a planet, you must procure a colony ship to ship all the materials and colonists to the desired planet. To send a colony ship, send a message to Admin (or admin@stonefire.net) with your name and password plus the origin and destination of the ship. The price of sending a colony ship is 1 million credits (this can be payed from government accounts if specified). A ship will be created to move through the game to its destination (This ship can be attacked, in fact they are quite the big score.).

lets make an ARES government and name the planets Ishima, Obain, Cantharis, etc Posted Image

Well, I signed up for Hideout. Although our faction wouldn't be an "alliance," it would be a government - so would make more sense to use "The Human/Ishiman Cooperative," "The United Nations of Sol," "The Free Worlds of Obain," etc.

Hmm, found a nice trade route. Makka-Mordor. only 1 jump too! I'll grab some escorts once i finish my mission comp mission and get cash quick. Hopefully we can get a planet fast before people are ready to attack our colony ship.

Hmm...so we're supposed to e-mail them with the password we want them to set up for our account? That implies they do this manually. Not the best of thoughts...

Er, email? There's a signup form on the front page.. And with a 1-day turnaround its not so bad.(faster than ASW registrations!)

Right now, the systems are hard wired (unchangable by script). I'm not sure how to program that kinda thing.

The area near the top (I-212, F-001) looks like the best prospective region. Safely nestled behind LN territory - and jump-wise, it's more than twice as far from Narsil as the Consortium worlds.

sounds like a plan! OK one of us needs to get 1,000,000 so we can get a colony ship and take over one of those worlds. I screwed up and tried to trade but my trade route, er, didn't work so well lol. so I've got a runabout with 78,000 cash right now lol Posted Image running missions in this is awfully slow. Anyone spotted a decent trade route?

It's a little hard without a better system. My current planet has Ore and Industrial, so here are the prices:

IndGoods:
650 Alcyon
470 Elrond
610 Wiggin
380 Forbes
620 Gammon
530 Gandalf
470 Lorry
470 Slover
500 Makka
390 Montar
570 Mordor
400 Crick
480 Tangier

The best deal on IndGoods appears to be Wiggin-Forbes; a 230cr/T margin off a 2 jump route. Assuming 50T cargo and 4 jumps of fuel, that's 11500cr/day. It's actually more profitable to be running missions at that rate, which pay approx. 20000cr/day for a 35 ton transport.

620 Alcyon
530 Arthur
570 Elrond
590 Wiggin
790 Forbes
540 Jagros
780 Lorry
730 Slover
520 Makka
520 Mona
650 Mordor
530 Syme
740 Vistula
740 Crick

The greatest Ore margin seems to be 270cr/T, and that's a much longer route anyway. Don't bother.

I think that, as soon as I finish my current mission, I'll hire a fleet of runabouts and do a bult mission. 260K sounds real nice to me right now, since I only have 270K. I'll be done with my current mission when I get to Minitrue, and there's currently an Arthur-Tron Bulk available. If it's still available when I finish, it's perfect.

[edit]Actually, I decided to hire my 4 escorts right away, and accepted the mission. Unfortunately, it's Arthur-Butaneine, and that one extra jump will cost me a day, real-time. I may end up bringing down my cargo hold to 35 in order to get an extra jump.[/edit]

[edit2]Yep. I used the 15T cargo space I had left to buy a mass expansion, and used the 15T of total space I got out of that (10+5) to buy a fuel pod and an AM Sniper. In 4 days, I should be up 220Kcr, after deducting escort costs.[/edit2]

Just try and get some bulk missions to make cash for a bit. Next week we'll pool our cash and buy a colony ship and escort it to the planet.

Looks like your accounts are up. (Avatara = Trojen?)

I think the best course of action would be to buy a scout, then hire 4 Runabout escorts for bulk missions. They're a good 260K of cash, and should only take 2-3 days, or 40K-60K escort upkeep. After everyone has 500K, we should be ready.

Three of us will donate 300K each, and two will donate 50K each and buy Eagles, to escort the ship*. We should probably colonize Tralf, and then Noktar as planet #2. Montar and Turok would be good holdings as well, if we can conquer them.

I think taking graphics from Ares would work nicely (Human ships?), but I'm not so sure we could really model our government on Ares. Pulling together random planets and slapping on the name "Ares Confederacy" doesn't seem like it would work. It seems that we should instead create a new government name, or an old one with a looser meaning. Random list of things that come to mind:
-Northstar Confederacy - I think that may have been influenced by StarLance
-UNS Expeditionary Force - We're a long way away from home, and we didn't find any Ishimans
-Free Worlds of Obain - Not an Obish Empire, but the captal could be Obain
-Neu Zollverein - Attempts at unification, sharp military overtones
Feel free to spit out your own.

[*Actually, we might not be able to escort the ship ourselves, but have to *hire* escorts for it... in any case, the other two pay for escorting.]

I'm on, but the money is coming in slow. At this rate it's going to take a while to upgrade ships.

Yeah - although running 3 bulk missions *will* get you to 700K - the amount needed to buy a Raptor. That seems to be one of the best ships for combat, discounting those that are too expensive for an earlier player. Not much cargo space, probably good for a Mass Exp -> Fuel Pod.

My current ship is actually a rather kitted-out Runabout. Missile Rack (x10M), AM Sniper, and Fuel Pod. I wouldn't dare get in anything more dangerous than long-range combat Posted Image

OK, i'm starting to rake in cash with bulk missions finally. 270,000 creds and counting Posted Image I'll have another 260,000 or so tomorrow. Scouts with 2 fuel pods and 4 runabout escorts seem to be extremely good for missions-9 jumps and 200+ cargo lets me run missions in one real-life day Posted Image
