Slayer threw himself into the fray, hacking wildly at demons and undead. Fortunately, the evil beings were so preoccupied with the goblin uprising that Slayer sustained very little damage. "Come on and join me," Slayer yelled to the others, "This is the most fun I've had in years!" Shortly thereafter, the ground shook slightly, though it was enough to dislodge some large stones from the ceiling of the cave. A few goblins crushed and killed by the stones, and a few undead were also destroyed. The demons that were struck by rocks were unaffected. None of the adventurers were struck by rocks of any appreciable size. The ground stopped shaking, and the battle continued.

Most of the party fought hand to hand with the demons and undead, encountering no real difficulty. Avatara stood back and cast highly damaging spells at the demons. The battle raged on for about half an hour, new demons and skeletons coming in all the while. Desert Fox pointed at some demons and skeletons who were dragging away dead goblins and shouted to the rest of the party, "Hey, they're getting away!"

Slayer called the party together, then said, "We're never going to get anywhere killing these creatures. They come back as quickly as we can destroy them. Maybe we should follow those creature who are hauling away the dead. They might lead us to their source."

As the group began to head down the passage, the chamber behind them collapsed under about twenty tons of solid stone. DF used his lighting spell, and they walked further down the passage. It was clearly a natural passage, as it took many twists and turns and had a good number of stalagtites and stalagmites. However, there were no passages coming off of the one they were on.

"Notice that there aren't any side passages?" DF asked.

"Kind of odd, isn't it?" Rogan responded.

DF looked at part of the wall and noticed a slight discoloring. Kicking the discolored part of the wall, he revealed acient passages...

Looking at them, the group was amazed. The ceiling was at least 100 feet tall, and there were stalagtites and stalagtites carved with runes and as ancient columns. The walls were covered with inscriptions, and there was an unearthly red glow that overpowered DF's light...

The group walked into the huge cavern and felt a vague tingling. As they went deeper into cave, the red glow became brighter and the tingling more pronounced. The adventurers rounded a bend and saw a gigantic pillar of red light. The column of red light started at the floor of the cave and extended through a rather large hole in the ceiling. As the party grew nearer, they could tell that this was obviously the same pillar of light that they had seen touching the sky before they entered the cave. At the center of the light was a strange crystal. *Not the crolna, by the way*

"That crystal looks like it's the source of the beam," said Kestrel, stating the obvious. Avatara said, "Maybe if we can move the crystal out of the way, it will shut down." Kestrel, Avatara, and Slayer all approched the crystal, but turned back when the tingling turned into a distinct pain, more than ten meters away from the crystal. Slayer picked up a stone and tossed it at the crystal, hoping to dislodge it. Unfortunately, the stone vaporized more than three meters from the crystal. Desert Fox cast a fireball at the crystal, but the energy was absorbed into the crystal. "There doesn't seem to be much we can do to affect that crystal. We should probably continue on," Slayer said to the rest of his group.

The party carefully walked around the pillar of light. On the other side was an opening in the cave wall which led to the outdoors. The rain was still beating down, but it was no longer deadly. All the adventurers stepped out of the cave and looked to the right. What they saw was a huge structure with a central tower about five stories high, being built on to by demons and undead. Slayer said, "I've seen this place before, but it was much smaller then. This used to be Tavara's Stronghold..."

Slayer pulls Rogan aside as the rain beats down upon their heads. "Rogan," says Slayer, "I think I do remember something from the journal that would allow me to reverse the duplication. I'd have to be touching my clone in order for it to work, though." At that moment, the ground shook again. This time, the quake was much more forceful. The cave the adventurers just walked out of collapsed. Talos and Slayer were knocked to the ground, and the others nearly so. At small distance away, a parcel of land had raised itself about two meters above the rest of the land, due to the severity of the quake. At last the quake stopped. The party could see that the huge structure had not even been shaken at all by this most recent tremor.

As the adventurers approached what was once Tavara's Stronghold, the undead took notice of the adventurers, and about half stopped construction. Legions of undead and demons poured out the front of the massive building, straight toward the adventurers.

The mages quickly took their positions in the back, while the warriors took their postions in the front. Talos cast a spell he had created, fire scimitar, which made his scimitar create streaks of fire. The undead, largely skeletons, came first. Knocking them down was not terribly difficult, though a few managed to flank the group and cause trouble among the mages. Demons were more of a problem, and a few of them seemed to be heavily armored, making them yet more powerful. The mages had to cast more and more healing on the warriors, who were becoming tired...

It, along with its undead fighters, seemed too much of a challenge to the group. DF cast a special spell of his. When his eyes turned blood red and then black, the spell went out. All of a sudden, all that was left was the group and the dragon. DF cast a terrible spell and banished all the undead. The dragon was still in the advantage category. It was a monster. A complete beast. It was a really mature dragon who knew how to take out anything. The group now has quite a challenge on their hands.

The dragon landed, shaking the ground beneath the adventurers' feet. The beast emitted a thunderous roar, then breathed a stream of acid towards the party. Most were able to dodge the brunt of it, but Rogan was hit straight on, melting a piece of his armor away. Rogan screamed in agony as the acid burned his flesh. Avatara and Talos moved towards Rogan in order to heal his fresh wounds. Slayer, on the other hand, charged forward, intent on slaying this horrendous creature. As Slayer neared, the dragon reached out and tossed Slayer to the side. Kestrel and Talos slipped around to opposite sides of the beast, distracting it. Slayer pulled himself to his feet and maneuvered himself to the back of the dragon. The beast advanced towards Kestrel, then snatched Kestrel up with his enormous jaws. Kestrel, largely inside the mouth, sliced his sword across the dragon's nose but without much effect. At the same time, Slayer jumped, obviously assisted magically, towards the dragon. He brought his sword down, squarely in the center of the back of the dragon's neck. Desert Fox cast a spell, causing a huge lightning bolt to strike Slayer's sword. The dragon roared with pain as electricity ran through his spine, ejecting Kestrel rather harshly from his mouth. The dragon collapsed, defeated.

The adventurers took a moment to heal themselves, then marched towards the door of the stronghold. As they entered, they noticed that the top floor had taken on a distinctly red hue...

"Hey, stop doing that!" Talos said, annoyed.

The party turned around to see what was happening, and saw a discouraging sight - DF was attacking Talos with all his might, while Talos, still very surprised, was barely blocking his attacks. DF's eyes were glowing blood red again...

It was happening again. The darkness had taken over, just like it had done at the academy. This time was different though, he was in a group which depended on his being good instead of evil. As the rest of the group attacked him, DF continued the attack on Talos. Talos, for a while, resigned himself to blocking every attack DF threw. This grew tiring and he soon used more offensive methods to help end the battle. DF kept hacking away but was soon hit by a holy spell. This knocked him to the ground while grabbing at his eyes. The glow soon ended in them but he stayed on the ground, thrashing with all his worth. A shadowy being then lept out of him.
"What the hell were you thinking DF" Slayer asked, obviously angry
"The darkness took over" DF answered weakly "It came in during the battle and I tried to control it but it soon overwhelmed me. It happened before and the academy is no longer around because of it"
"Hmm, we must decided whether it is safe for us to keep you with us" Slayer said with some disdain "I don't like the idea of darkness taking over while we sleep and you killing us all"

After a few hours of heated debating, the group came with their verdict
"We will accept you back. We do not want you to use dark magic again. You can remain with us, that is our answer" Talos said
"We should probably take a minute to rest," Slayer said as he began distributing a variety of potions, colored white, black, and grey.

Suddenly, slayer sees a crevice in the wall. there was a figure that looked reddened because of the pillar. Upon closer inpection, the figure is Fanatic!
"Get out now...while you still can...the things ive seen...all of the guards are being controlled by the duplicate...must get out..." Fanatic said.
Suddenly, the wall behind fanatic falls down on fanatic. Getting out from under it, Fanatic sees another Slayer in place of the wall. By this time, half the group was watching.
"Aw, you haven't had enough? Ah, well, a little more won't hurt..." the duplicate said, then started casting a spell on Fanatic. When he was done, the Duplicate vanished, and fanatic eyes were glowing red.
Fanatic started attacking Slayer...

When Grapper reached Pynx he sees the same mage that woke him up at the bar and suddenly the mage turned into a condor and some how I heard the condor say that my pet dragon named Regy had been killed by Slayer and his party at the undinestronghold.(sp) Grapper jumped on to the condors back and then they flew to the undinestronghold.(sp)

When they were right above Fanatic,Slayer and his party Grapper jumped off his new pet condor named condor and accidently landed on Fanatic and not noticing it asked Slayer if he had seen a dragon around here.Slayer replied...

Slayer replied, "Good to see you Grapper! Thanks for alleviating our difficulties with Fanatic. I might not be wise to revive him quite yet. It seems that the evil magic of my clone is still strong in him. Once we defeat my clone, though, it should be safe to bring him back."

Slayer and the others dragged Fanatic's corpse out to the front of the stronghold, then broke down the door to the main tower and began their ascent.

Suddenly Grapper turns around and with his sword chops off DF's head. Rogan grabs his sword "excalibar" and with the help of Kestrel overpower Grapper and are about to kill him when they are suddenly frozen with their swords inches from Grappers throat.
Avatara's fingers are still steaming from the freeze spell he casted on Rogan and Kestrel as he runs over to the decapitated body of DF. He reaches down to touch the body as it dissapears in shimmering dust. Avatara says"Grapper is right this is not DF, it was a duplicate of DF. Slayer's clone is now duplicating us, his hunters!"
Grappers slips out from underneath Rogan's and Kestrel's swords. As he stands up he says "I don't believe that was Fanatic that we killed either, I think it was his duplicate." "Slayer's clone knows that his best defense from us is us." Now we not only have to kill Slayer's clone each of us will have to kill our own evil clone and find DF and Fanatic.

DF sat in a room in complete blackness. Something had overtaken him and transported him to this forsaken place. The enemy had not even given him the luxury of sight.
"Bloody hell" DF said as he cast a spell which disinegrated the blindfold. He then cast a spell which turned the wall into dust. He was in some musty stronghold with no way to tell where in it he was.
"Just the perfect way to start my day" he thought as he set off down a hall.

Slayer and the others came to a really dark chamber. they came to the center of the chamber, and suddenly, the had the feeling they were not alone. Dark shadows paced around them. Out of nowhere, a light came on. there, surrounding them, were clones of Fanatic. They took on one fanatic after another, each one vanishing as they were sliced by blades. they worked their way through thirty two fanatics bofore realizing there was one left. it sliced its blade through the air, just missing slayer, and held it over his head, and lightning struck it, reflected off it, and formed a lightning elemental. then Fanatic made a fireball in the palm of his hand, and threw it on the ground and it turned into a fire elemental. then he summoned up a geyser from the earth, and it formed into a water elemental. finally, his shadow seemed to wriggle, and suddenly, it broke free and came forth from the wall. it was a new elemental called the Shadow Elemental. the four elementals attacked...

The shadow elemental was the first to attack. Slayer was busy looking for it when it appeared in front of him and started to slash. Slayer's speed enabled to to either dodge or block the furious attacks aimed at killing him. The blows came up one after another and beat Slayer to the dust. No damage was inflicted on him but he was getting tired of defense so he tried offense. He attacked the enemy repeatedly but it was no use, the shadow elemental was too quick. Then it suddenly froze and slumped over, dead. Upon hitting the ground, the shadow elemental disappeared into nothingness. Slayer got up to see Rogan fighting the water elemental. He was not succesful in using his sword so he guarded with his shield and looked for an opening in which he could use an ice blast. The water elemental kept grabbing him through the shield and slamming him around the room. After several times of going through this, Rogan found an opening. His ice blast penetrated all the defenses the water elemental tried to put up and froze it to its core. Rogan then drew his sword and cut the thing in half. After doing this he kicked the one half across the room so the two parts couldn't recombine. The Kestral had his hands full with the fire elemental. Each blow he delivered was countered with an equally powerful fire blast from the elemental. It was beginning to take it toll on Kestral until Rogan tossed him something. He immediately drank it and attacked again. The fiery adversary used another of his flame attacks but this time it didn't work. Kestral then decided to finish this elemental off before the magic wore out. He summoned all his might into a fighting force he had never used before. His attacks were stronger and faster than anything he had ever done before. This soon overwhelmed the fire elemental's defenses and knocked it out. Using the remainder of his power, Kestral took the ice block thrown to him by Rogan and tossed it on the fallen fire elemental, destroying it in a flash of steam.
Avatara was facing the most dangerous of the elementals, the lightning elemental. IT used lightning attacks that, if unchecked, would kill him. His blocks came at the right time every time, therefore allowing him to live. Ground element attacks would be the only thing to stop this elemental from destroying the group. He summoned earthly powers to take out the elemental but they missed. The elemental decided to have fun and zapped Rogan out of commision after his battle with the water elemental. Avatara then decided to stop this from happening again with a spell silencer attack. This time the attack hit the enemy and knocked it to the groud. It then pulled and electric sword out and beackoned for Avatara to attack. The battle raged for a while with neither warrior beign able to defeat the other. The lightning elemental soon just stopped, for no reason. It then disappeared. Avatara then saw Kestral behind him and knew what happened. Kestral used an earthly spell on the elemental which slowly sapped its power. This in turn slowly destroyed it while it fought Avatara.
The last challenge here was Fanatic himself. As the warriors prepared themselves, he charged...

Fanatic's eyes glowed briefly, then he thrust his sword at slayer, and missed. Slayer called up to the ceiling, "COWARD! Using this trustworthy man who wouldnt even think about harming us as your sword and sheild!!!"
Fanatic thrust again. It cut into slayers shoulder.
Fanatic fists glowed briefly with dark magic, then he punched Desert Fox.
Desert fox began to fight back. He threw a fireball at Fanatic, then another, then another. Fanatic was distracted by all this, and so, slayer literally sliced fanatic in half. Fanatic seemed to burn with dark fire, then fell dead.
"All right, you have proven yourself worthy of another companion, namely, this young man, but remember, you can always hurt the ones you love..."
Fanatic groaned...

Talos looks back to see Grapper, but doesn't stop. He was annoyed that his fellow "team members" had completely forgotten about him in the battle.

"Brainless bastards," he thought.

Far from being a coward, Talos begins his own search for the end of the clone.
