Good times ^_^ I haven't actually read either one - I was scared away from Shadow Games because the subtitle said it was rated PG-13, and then I didn't read Witch Hunt because I should read Shadow Games first. I didn't become active on the board until Ruffian Encampment-ish. It's too bad Sely no longer has time for us :( I bet his writing skills are wasted on his engineering program. As far as I can tell, since starting college, he pretty-much has no life outside of school.
RANDOM POLL: Do you think college students should devote their lives entirely to their studies? Or do you think they should have lives outside of studying even during their school-years? (Sely's professors obviously think A is the correct answer. Personally, I lean toward B.)

Anyway, DF said exactly what needs to be done. One of us needs to morph into a writing bug and bite him. Sounds pretty simple. Does anyone know how to morph into figurative insects? Tyry, you're awfully quick to declare that I failed. All I did was express admiration for his past skills, I didn't even mention that he should come back (which wasn't my goal anyway, though since you express support of it, maybe it should be).

I nominate Kat. She would make an excellent writing bug. (Well, so would Selax, but we don't have that long to wait.)

And the answer to your question is definitely B.

I second the nomination! (though I think anyone who's written with him in the past will be a good choice. Well, I'm not sure about Sely, he'd be all polite & "I understand that real life comes first" etc. Not persuasive enough)

That's precisely why you wouldn't drag it out. ;)

I guess you could be a writing pony instead. He might not see that one coming.

Something that was missing from this thread, but was present in the DM OoC thread has been the story synopsis. Since the DM/OoR story is about four years and almost 200,000 words now, the synopsis seemed to help out people returning from a long break in DM, and hopefully helps recap everything that has happened in the current story so far.

(Man, trying to clarify whether it is an alternate or an original doing something is proving to be a real pain.)

Cool synopsis! It'd be cool if it mentioned Sage, trying to follow Firecat is one of the most confusing parts - clearly Nezmy needs to post more.

I couldn't find a good way to work it in yet.

Regarding a non-combat challenge, I think that you and I already discussed the obstacle facing Rapierian, K, and alt-Avatara, as well as some of the difficulty awaiting alt-Rapierian and Katerei. I don't think the former will have much combat, but I doubt there's much I can do about the latter in that regard (at least in the short term).

Regarding the activity level, my philosophy back then was that it was better to keep the TS active and to force it along if necessary rather than to let it stagnate. Hence, if no one else posted for three days, I considered it acceptable to double post. Plus, I used to actually have time to do that sort of thing. I could try sustaining that level of activity during the summer, but I think somebody (probably Avatara) would snap and try to murder me for mangling the plot and the characters.

On the poll, it's not like one's professors really care about one's opinions in this sort of area. Hence, A is the only real option :( .

Also, 453 thinks I'm polite? Evidently, I'll have to raise her warn level...

I think it's a 48 hour rule. Maybe 24. Maybe not even a rule, just a courtesy. In other words, if people don't have a chance to respond before lots of stuff happens, you get a frowny face. But if they choose not to respond when there is a chance, oh well. Same thing regarding super long posts.

I think it was primarily a courtesy. I don't remember if there was a clearly defined rule.

In any event, I still think that you'd snap and try to kill me for mangling the plot and the characters :P .

I do plan to post in the next couple of days. I have an idea that might not involve conflict for alt-Rapierian, Katerei, and the Hand, but I don't like it. So, I guess I'll have to think of something.

You should join the TS and create a character whose life goal consists of helping K and Katerei learn to interact well with animals :P .

Hmm, I actually have an idea what to do in main Cythera. I don't think it will work very well (involving two or three armies), but no one else is really posting there anyway :( .

Remember that scene from that one Peter Pan movie? (Was it Hook?) Where Tinkerbell was all hurt until the audience clapped their hands enough for her to revive on the power of their wishes?

Maybe if BMW claps and cheers hard enough we'll see a new post in OoR. ;)

I vaguely remember that from a Peter Pan play I once attended. I've been clapping & cheering as hard as I could, but I don't know if you could hear me because I've been without internet these last five days (I've got a new temporary line in, w00t!).

Take a minute to think what a shame it would be if this story is never completed. I think more effort was put into DM/OoR than any other TS to date, it would almost be wasted if the story isn't finished.

Well, I posted something, so I suppose 453 must have been clapping and cheering.

I plan to post again quite soon. Hopefully, I'll get around to finally giving the backstory behind the TS.

Wowev Sely, your post was awesome! I really enjoyed reading how the characters were portrayed. Can't wait for the next one - quadruple post!

Oh wow. I wasn't expecting that.

Here you were worried about portraying Kat correctly, and you nailed the one thing that made me go cold
