You all knew it was coming, at least the Reno clan. It was incredible if you ask me. But nobody wants to know my opinion. I want to know yours. What do you think of the newsest installment of the Harry Potter series? Were expecting what happened? Did you have any theories that panned out? Well, anyway.. .I'd love to hear how you guys enjoyed it.

This is what i wrote in the BnB topic:

I read it today on an airplane....and wow.

First of all I wanted this one to be as long as the last two. I felt that the ending unraveled a bit.

Other Thoughts:

On Snape: Although I've never liked Snape as a person, I think in this book he may be under the Imperius Curse. Just last year, Snape notified the Order after Harry got caught by Umbridge, after he had yelled something about Padfoot. Despite Snape's intense dislike of both Harry and Sirus, he apparantly saved both of them, or tried to. This got Lucious Malfoy caught and other Death Eaters killed(I think). This sudden turn of side seems very odd.

Harry/Ginny: The breakup really didn't work at the end. It was almost clichéd- someone mentioned Spider-man and I quite agree.

Neville: He'll be really important in the next book. I'm convinced of this for no readily apprant reason. Oh, and if he lives he'll end up marrying Luna Lovegood.

Ron/Hermione: There was a hint at the funeral but somehow I have doubts about this going anywhere.

Malfoy will either:
Do something rash and get himself killed trying to avenge his father.
Switch sides (this sort of relates to my theory about Snape-if Snape is not acting under his own will then Malfoy will have to rethink things. A lot.). It's not impossible.

Tonks/Lupin:
Um, huh?

Bill/Fleur:
I think they met after the Triwizard Tournament. I really couldn't tell how this will turn out. She and Mrs. Weasly seem to finally reach an understanding after Bill gets bitten(odd, isn't it?) but the rest of the family still doesn't seem to like her much.

Grwap: I mostly think this is a side story that will end up being only vaguely relevant. But, it's also possible that he'll become somewhat civilized, and be able to get some giants against Voldemort after,...i dunno, this line is fuzzy. Like my cat.

I thought it was fantastic, I absolutely love it. I love the way the characters are developing. I really had a problem with the whole, Harry Ginny thing before this book, mainly because I liked Hermione a lot more, but now I've come to accept it. And I think they'll be back together in the next book. I somehow knew that Snape was the half-blood Prince. I mean...it all fit together so nicely. That was the only thing I was right about in my theorizing though. I thought that Dumbledore was going to go bad and I thought that Draco was going to die. (I wish he had) But I love the fact, that finally Snape is made a true villain. I've always considered him one, even though I know he isn't...

What was your favorite chapter?

I posted my thoughts in the B&B topic as well, but I'll make a new post.

I didn't like this one as much as the others, possibly because events didn't fit my theories, or just because it felt more of a set-up to #7 then a full book itself.

I was unhappy Harry went with Ginny instead of Hermione, and then went Spider-Man in the end to top it all off.

I think snape makes a weak HBP.

I was unhappy dumbledore was killed.

I'm not happy that the school-era seems to be over

That being said, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book, and it is a great book in the grand scheme of things, and I maintained my read-it-in-a-day Harry Potter tradition.

Predictions/Theories

Snape is not evil.

Malfoy will come around.

a Black is RAB

Hermione and Ron get together (duh)

Neville plays a key role

What was Black's brother-gone-Death-Eater's name again? Maybe he somehow survived the execution.

Predictions:

More Inferi.

After the last book, I thought that because the backfired Killing Curse failed to kill Voldemort the first time around, Harry would have to throw Voldemort through the same archway that killed Sirius. Beats Horcrux hunting if you can lure him there and launch him through. Nothing comes out of there alive.

Voldemort may or may not try a trick like the one in the Ministry in #5.

Voldemort was weakened in the duel against Dumbledore more than he cared to admit. Good excuse for hiding his ugly face in this latest book.

At the beginning, I thought the HBP was Voldemort. After all, he is a prince of Slytherin, and half-blood. I also expected a longer book, and wish something exciting had happened in Professor Binns's class.

Malfoy will do what Snape did the last time Voldemort was around. Or get killed. He may have realized the essence of being a Death Eater-and that he isn't cut out to be one.

Was that plane trip from the East Coast, so you could get the book three hours earlier?

The one complaint I have with the series is the name. "Harry Potter", at least to me, has a very childish aura to it (I find myself referring to the books only with the sub-titles often), which does no justice to the book's content. I wish the series had a darker or more mysterious title, similar to "Lord of the Rings".

I really enjoyed the book, but I want to know if the real locket was destoryed or not.

Also I think that Sirius will somehow come back.

I agree with you Trah. But It's the inside that counts right?

I also hope that Sirius comes back. He's my FAVORITE...besides Harry of course. I actually think Dumbledore will come back first... You know, the pictures of old Headmasters... I also think that the locket has been destroyed. Definitely. I think Snape's bad. I want him to be. I mean..can you make an unbreakable vow without believing in it?

It would be cool if Dumbledore can back, put I don't really see how unless he is a ghost. Also, I really want to know what the picture of a person is, is it a clone of the person or what the person that painted it wanted them to be like.

Well, the fact that the old headmasters/headmistresses can interact with the now head-people is proof that they're able to communicate. When they would say stuff like.."I would've never allowed that while I was headmaster" Is grounds to believe that he will indeed come back and help. Most likely with Harry. He still has to tell that story!

Sirius is gone, for sure.

Dumbledore, I'm 95% sure he's gone.

I agree, that locket was destroyed (possibly by regulas black.... fits the R and B of rab).

Snape is good, 65% sure.

I agree that Sirius is gone. As much as I don't want him to be. Dumbledore isn't gone. I thought that maybe it RAB was some kind of a puzzle of some kind. She leads us to think it's Regulus...but it'll turn out to be some new character or...I dunno..someone we already know.

Didn't she write that if you do the killing curse, your heart has to be in it? And you truly have to want to kill the person? That's why I think Snape's bad.
Whatever happens..happens.

I know that the pictures can talk, but I want to know how much they are like the real person and wether they are actually alive.

Sirius could come back because is seems that, eventhough, whatever goes into it is trapped inside they are still alive. It seems to be a sort of doorway to another place.

I agree that Snape is bad, but it oesn't seem to fit the other stuff she wrote about him.

Snape seems a bit out of character for Snape, so I hope he's good being forced to do bad.

He is definatly evil, why else would he kill Dumbledore, the only wizard that Voldimort feared (besides Harry.)

There are many ways he could've had his heart in it. For one, if Dumbledore asked him to do it to protect malfoy. While he may not like it, he would've had his heart set on it. While voldemort may have feared dumbledore, dumbledore could not have killed voldemort. All will be revealed in book 7, and I'm sure the reason why dumbledore chose to have snape kill him will be logical.

Yes, but Snape could've easily attacked the other Death Eaters instead of killing Dumbledore.

Dumbledore may have been dying already from the potion he drank. There isn't solid evidence either way, but I do think snape is good.
