Yup, you've got their number.

Very very strange things, they used to be on an even stranger TV show called The Big Breakfast. Ahh, good times™.

Why are some people driven by one thing and others like to experiment with many things? (for example, I commonly post on five diffect boards, while vec has 99% of her posts in the ATT forum)

I'm sure the 14 posts Vec made on the other boards are meaningful and full of wisdom.

I don't understand why girls need purses. They've already got a backpack, pockets, and who knows what else...

To echo a comment of 3T's, yes, girls are confusing.

Girls need purses because they like to be entirely self-sufficient and the pockets on any female garment are mainly for show in most applications (I only know one female who actually uses all the pockets in her jeans, most around me don't use any). They see no reason for running out to the car to grab stuff and don't possess the capacity to understand the statement, "Screw it, I don't need <whatever>, just pass the duct tape/beer." whenever they're faced with a lack of <whatever>.

Duct tape, indeed. On your first comment, well, that's true...

Wouldn't it just be easier to never leave the house if they wanted to be entirely self-sufficient?

Maybe a real girl could answer this?

I'm still confused.

Your confused because your trying to make it make sense. You must understand that girls in themselves are confusing, their actions make no sense. You are not confused it is the subject that is confusing.

Ok...here's the reason..and I'm being very blunt..so be afraid...

You see..when a man loves a woman...

Wrong talk..sorry..

You see..there are these things called reproductive organs. For women, they are called the "ovaries" Now...once a month, after a woman hits "puberty", she has what's called, her "period".
Women do not like to make it a public matter. We like to keep it under wraps. Purses are a great way to hide it. Because of "that time of the month" you would have to bring your backpack...because of the purse..you can discreatly take care of business. Instead of screaming to the whole world..."I'M ON MY PERIOD!" Girls use purses all the time to make the allusion that they're never on it. So you can never really tell unless they PMS really bad.

Hope this helped...

Right. moonunit gave one very reasonable explanation of why girls carry purses...

Another is that it's a silly affectation, and not all females do it. Especially not alongside a backpack or other large bag. Especially when at school, when the backpack comes into the bathroom anyways because you're going between classes and there's nowhere else to put the backpack....

On the other hand, although I resist it being termed a "purse," I do have a shoulderbag that I carry to hold my wallet, cell phone, iPod, and book when I'm out and about withoutmy backpack. It's due to the lack of proper pockets on some of my clothing. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I certainly don't commonly wear any pairs of pants with pockets big enough to carry a novel (even a paperback) around with me, even if my phone, iPod, and wallet could fit.

Right. Strange things...why is it that some girls wear miniskirts in the middle of winter, and then complain about being cold? I openly laughed at one of my students during my two-week teaching practicum in January, because she came to school in a short skirt and bare legs, when there was snow on the ground outside and our classroom is colder than the rest of the school, and then complained of being cold.
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe.

You know you could just make a purse out of duct tape and then I would understand. However, as long as we are stuck on topics like this, I am still confused.

I have a spiffy backpack made entirely out of duck tape with Velcro to keep it closed it is my baby.

On the other hand, as one who doesn't really give a damn about the type of clothes he wears, I have been known to buy articles of clothing based solely on the number of pockets they had.

Dude, I would love to have a bag made out of duct tape -- it would have to have a long strap to go over my shoulder across my chest, though, and be big enough to actually be useful. In case you missed that part of my earlier post, I don't carry a purse. :P

Does that make me a freak?

Not at all.

Actually the duct tape bag thing could work...I'll have to spend some time on that over the summer.

I think the easiest, and possibly sturdiest, way to do it would be to cheat a bit and simply put duct tape on the outside of a bag of whatever style you prefer. That way you wouldn't have to worry about making pockets or incorporating a zipper.
