I'm going to stop posting when I hit 1400, so I hope it changes sooner rather then later.

Mostly because it is a nice round number. If the posts aren't saved, it will make it easy for me to figure out my grand total.

Where are you going after post 1400? Is this a permanent (going to psychotic therapy?) or a temporary halt?

After 1400 I'm just waiting for the new boards.

I took a screenshot of my 2000th post so I can use it as an avatar later, maybe, assuming my posts don't get transferred. I don't really care about the posts I make between now and then, though.

I think they're going to lump together all the post counts from the boards that a member most frequently posts in, and then divide that total post count up among the board moderators. Makes for a fresher, cleaner start for the mortals.

It's pretty easy, I'll just spam until I'm back to 3000. If that's where I am.

So they are going to erase all our posts and/or post counts or what? And right after I hit 1000, too. **Sniff**

While I'm sure that what you say is true amongst newer members of a web community, once one becomes an established member I would think that the effect would diminish. I'm certainly not going to post some crummy, one-word post just to see my post count get upped by one, and I can't believe that many other people do either. If nothing else, a single post in a sea of multiple thousands of posts really has no affect on the percieved stature that one can gain from having a relatively high post count anyway (even hundreds of posts stop making a difference after a while as, say, one's 5,363rd post really doesn't put one at much more of a rarified height than where they were at 5,263).

There are times and places for one-word posts, but not many.

I don't like it so far. The colors don't work, and the smilies are not nearly as cool.

edit: why weren't all posts saved? I remember I was nearing 1400 at the change.

well reading the announcement helped, but a question remains: why isn't SA on the list of moderators?

The color schemes will be readjusted to be more consistant with the old ones as soon as the SuperWoozle gets around to it. This is a pre-release version that we're looking at here that Tom has, evidentally, been working on all weekend long. This is not necessarily how the boards will look a week from now.

The post counts are a might lower as the Uplink and Nova boards have imploded and, thus, any posts that any of us have made on those two boards have not shown up in the Invision counts yet (they may or may not ever show up again, but who cares, we could all be starting over at zero).

SA has been stuffed in a sack by his professors and hidden in the back of the Yale Law Library, as soon as he finds a way out I'm sure he'll be back (notice he's still labeled as a Mod within his posts, I'm imagining that there are no worries but I have no idea).

Don't whine about your post count, I lost over 500. :P

Anyway, its probably because the backup thing they used wasn't as of the last day on the board. I sure as hell didn't post 500 times on Uplink and Nova, maybe 4.

Oh well, doesn't really matter. And SA can't find this board. ;)

I saved my two favorite before the transfer. Feel free to use them if you like, though it is harder because you have to use the image tag thing.
