Jesus is my lord and I am his sheep.

Yes, well, huh huh. Everyone thought I was an atheist right Posted Image

I guess this proves I'm not.

I can't really explain why to you. As you know I have a great spiritual side of me. I just rejected my atheism as it wasn't a fundementally good thing to have.

You can't believe in no one.

I know an atheist. I think his atheism might have kind of screwed him up, he keeps thinking that he is a cat. Truly.

I know many atheists. They're like non-atheists except for the atheist bit.

Yeah, I'm very sorry now that I think about it. Faith is a private matter and should not be discussed openly in egotistical ways.

And there's nothing shameful. I mean, you have to have some religion. Since atheism is a leap of faith (I mean pure atheism) I would classify that as a religion and you have to believe in someone or something. You just can't believe in nothing - since no such concept exists and you are not very different from a Christian or other religious worshipper.

Some people don't believe in God because they see no reason to come to such a conclusion. Thus, they believe in nothing.

They believe in the non-existence of God.

Just out of interest, can anyone throw up any blocks against my faith?

I'd be willing to take you to pieces if you tried Posted Image Posted Image

Uh, it's based on a two thousand year old book that was written by humans and it's in honor of a Jewish guy?

Not to make fun of it or anything, but that's most of why I'm not Christian.

There's really nothing there that attacks my argument... yes it is written by people, and also there is alot of doubt about whether or not he existed.

I don't mean to break away your faith... the argument here is that 'faith' is more important. Atleast to a Christian.

Everyone has to believe in something. All things considered, there are a lot of worse role models to believe in than Jesus Christ. A lot.

I never thought religion was practical, really.

Believing in the non-existence of god is not the same sort of belief that believing in the existence of god is, is it?

What do you believe in without God? You believe in science... quantum physics?

How is quantum physics relevant to the way you govern your life?

I don't 'believe' in either. Well, I suppose I'd have to favour one or the other, but I don't rely on or give any thought to either one.

In terms of roles, I believe religions have all been heavily influenced. Mohammed was a holy man but he was also a conqueror, and didn't give much thought for a viable society that was futuristic, which is why modern islamic theocracies are so hopeless at achieving modern style economies. I expect (or hope) they will receive another holy man at some point to guide them on their way...

Jesus represents all that is necessary for a society to become 1) perfectly happy 2) without any of the stuff we associate to be negative 3) without power hungry people screwing it over 4) survivability.

I can't believe I was so arrogant to Sargatanus when I was dissing Christianity. Yes it clearly has all the benefits of a survivalist and fundementally happy culture.

You have to make a choice. Society is inevitable. People are like beings that automatically fit into societies... so it is natural that whatever benefits society the most has to be the most just. This includes things that benefit individuals in the short run but by upholding them benefits the group...

Yes I know this is a rather massive change. The only alternative (to me) is the opposite of following God and Jesus. Now, I don't think that Socrates would reject that idea I just said above. He obviously followed ideas of justness and goodness...

But Jesus personifies them. If you reject Jesus cause of credibility... I guess that's your choice but if you reject him as an EXAMPLE then you're in trouble. Just my opinion.
