QUOTE (undead_shadow @ Jun 22 2009, 10:04 AM)
Wait... all those three are the same person?

Yup.

QUOTE (undead_shadow @ Jun 22 2009, 10:04 AM)
Who the hell do you brag to about doing a sex-change person?

Myself, mostly. I don't generally do stuff so I can later brag about it; I do stuff so I can later say to myself that I did it. Quite honestly, the only time I should think it would come up is in a discussion of how natural a faux vagina feels (which, I must say, is a somewhat interesting question regardless).

QUOTE (undead_shadow @ Jun 22 2009, 10:04 AM)
Small minded: "you f'ed a guy you fag!"
Open minded: "So you've screwed another woman... and?"

The bulk of the population: "Really? Let's hear the story."

QUOTE (undead_shadow @ Jun 22 2009, 10:04 AM)
Actually I wouldn't know how I'd respond to someone telling me they've had a sex change (in or out of a relationship).

I think the correct response would be: "Okay. How the ###### did that come up?"

QUOTE (undead_shadow @ Jun 22 2009, 10:04 AM)
Like Applelove for example. She looks very attractive, yet she used to be a guy (and still fancies girls). I find the whole thing erm fascinating (without meaning to sound patronising). If I've gone out with a girl(/guy) and I like her(/him) and they told me about their operation, I really don't know what I'd do.

If you like her, how does it really matter one way or the other? Short of killing any chance of reproducing with her, along with any political aspirations you might have if you stay with her, I'd probably go with, "Cool. Wanna' grab something to eat?"

Sure, maybe it'll ruin the relationship or something. Doesn't seem like something I'd do, but - as you say - who knows until you're in that situation. I just can't see how my immediate reaction would really amount to anything.

QUOTE (undead_shadow @ Jun 22 2009, 10:04 AM)
I'd like to say it wouldn't matter and I'm open minded to accept who ever I fall for for who they are, looks and body come second.

Looks and body are important, too. If I couldn't tell up front, then I don't see how anything about her looks and body would change with my knowledge that she used to be a guy.

QUOTE (undead_shadow @ Jun 22 2009, 10:04 AM)
So, another question: Is there anyone you couldn't fall in love with?

Probably not, but that's a different question than whether there's anyone I couldn't stay with. Crazed meth addict, woman with full-blown AIDS who is actively trying to infect me, etc. I don't want to foreclose the possibility that I'd still be in love with the meth addict, but, nevertheless, would have to end the relationship and stay far away from her.

QUOTE (Jeremiah @ Jun 22 2009, 11:33 AM)
Pufer, have you seen the movie Powder Blue? Could you give me review of it please, cos I downloaded it without knowing what it is and I would like to know before settling down to watch.

Can't say that I have, unfortunately.

QUOTE (Sponge Tom @ Jun 22 2009, 07:52 PM)

Nope (or, at least, not as far as I know).

Yup.

That's what I came to conclude, personality/soul don't have genders do they... and that's what you're supposed to fall in love with.

Another unrelated related question... How did you split my post up and still have my quoting the writing? (instead of the copy and pasting that I've done)

I wasn't involved, but the most interesting topic I've seen in my tenure here still probably has to be PikeFund: A webboard sponsors sending a guy halfway across the world to have sex.

If I had to have participated, it probably wasn't especially interesting, per say, but it was entertaining as hell: µ talks about masturbation

Supposed to, but I'm not too sure if that's true. You probably fall in love with your mental conception of a person (what you think their personality/soul is), not necessarily the person.

Nothing much. I've never really cared much for Klondike bars. Too messy.

Pufer, what is your favorite euphemism?

I'm unreasonably fond of the phrase, 'jump <blank> bones.' It's a very strange euphemism that, in my opinion, is hard to say sexily. However, "jump one another's bones" is the exact type of euphemism that I like - unnecessarily wordy and somewhat droll.

QUOTE (Destroyer E @ Jun 23 2009, 08:21 PM)
Pufer, do you know your IQ? If so, would you mind sharing?

I have my IQ score taken when I was in 4th grade, but I don't think they even told me what I scored (I probably didn't do worth a s###, either: the tester didn't bother mentioning that everything was being timed until like halfway into the test - "Young man, you do realize that you're being timed, don't you?" "What?!?" - I was taking my time on the first half, and was flustered and rushing all the way through the second).

From my ACT score (which should be a fairly decent proxy, according to studies), I should be in the 134-139 range. Given that I took the ACT cold, a year earlier than I should've without really any of the necessary math, my IQ might even be higher than that (I have no doubt that I could've done better on the ACT had I actually prepped for it at all and/or taken some more math), or it might have no relation to the test at all.

Personally, I don't know.

Probably depends on how old of a child you're talking about.

Really young (like toddler): Pat The Bunny. ######ing book was awesome.
Slightly older: Audrey & Don Wood books (King Bidgood's in the Bathtub, etc.)
Kindergarten: I honestly can't remember. It had something to do with a cat on a ship in Scandinavia, as I recall. He may or may not have worn boots or talked (but definitely wasn't Puss in Boots; maybe Sam?).
First Grade: Judy Blume books, The Cay by Theodore Taylor.
Second Grade: Trixie Belden mysteries (my aunt was a fan when younger, and continued buying them, so was able to supply me with the entire 39-book series), Chronicles of Narnia.
Third Grade: Hiroshima by John Hersey.
Fourth Grade: The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton.
Later: Airframe by Michael Crichton, whenever I ended up with my copy of it, then Replay by Ken Grimwood, which stayed on top of my list until I started reading Heinlein in college.

I was became fond of The Giver by Lois Lowry, the Indian in the Cupboard series by Lynne Reid Banks, and the Doc Savage series (as reprinted by Bantam in the 60s/70s) at various times in there, but I'm not sure when, specifically.

Say what you will about Jacko and what he did, I don't think there is a person on this planet that can't name or hasn't once danced to one of his songs.

His lose to the music world is what I will mourn, but that lose happened many many years ago. So any mourning I had is long gone...

Star Trek (except for DS9) is, by far, my favorite. I'm not really sure why, though. I guess I've just grown up with the Star Trek universe (my mom was a huge TNG fan back in the day, so, from when I was three until ten, it was one of the few shows I was allowed to watch on television - Sesame Street, Mister Rogers, and TNG).

The religious overtones of BSG are interesting, but I've just never really gotten into the series (either original or modern).

I enjoyed the novelization (by Molstad) of the Stargate movie, didn't especially care for the movie (I read it after reading the novelization, which was a mistake), and thought that SG-1 was stupid (unlike BSG, I did give it a chance, but the series just sucked). I've not watched any of the other Stargate series.

All the characters in Star Wars are basically ######s, Leia isn't attractive, and the Skywalker clan, as a rule, consists of a bunch of pussies. As action flicks, they're solid (the new ones, especially), but it's like they had Michael Bay running character development (a fellow who, of course, got his start at Lucasfilm).

No and no.

An interesting discussion has occurred between me and others since coming up to Colorado:

Other Person: Hey, Pufer's here! The bar is over there, the fridge is full of beer and in the kitchen, and I got an extra bed in the back, the couch folds out, and I got plenty of blankets for the floor.
Pufer: I wasn't aware this was that kind of party.
OP: What?
Pufer: Do I reserve a bed, or how does this work?
OP: You lost me. What?
Pufer: Why are you telling me that the couch folds out?
OP: Pick out a place to crash!
Pufer: Why the ###### would I crash here, I live like 20 minutes away.
OP: You're planning on taking a cab?
Pufer: Nah, I drove.
OP: You're not drinking?
Pufer: I'll have a few, but I'm assuming that I'll have a few hours to sober up before I leave.
OP: <looking dubious> Okay. The couch bed is surprisingly comfy, though. Think about it.

This has led me to the conclusion that I've come from a different world.

As far as I can tell, in the rest of the world, it's fairly routine for folks to go to a party, start drinking, continue until they pass out on a fold-out bed, and then they find their way home the next day. The assumption is, apparently, that you're going to crash at the party. I'm the ###### because I'm antisocial and drive myself home, stepping over legions of bodies littered about the place at 3 AM.

In Albuquerque, this happens at frat houses, but nowhere else as far as I know, except the mountains or way the ###### out in the boonies. Everyone else drives to the party, has a few drinks, sobers up for a few hours unless they live there or have a ride, and then they drive home. Everyone has a bunch of garbage bags in the back seat to use as vomit bags for friends, everyone knows where the DUI checkpoints are, and everyone has their side-street routes planned out to avoid the bats. Every night ends with a discussion of everyone's routes home.

If someone passes out on someone else's couch or something, it's the topic of group gossip for the next week, and that person is incredibly apologetic when he/she wakes up the next morning for invading the home of someone else. He's apologetic because he's the ###### because he drank too ######ing much, passed out too early, and then, uninvited, crashed at someone else's place. Even if you have to ride home drunkenly on someone else's roof rack, you sleep in your own bed tonight, vomit in your own toilet tomorrow morning.

Up here, there are no "bats" (and people don't know what I'm talking about - cops driving around dark in unmarked Nissans, pickup trucks, and every-changing miscellaneous other vehicles for the express purpose of doing DUI stops so that you can't just watch for Crown Vics in the rearview), no DUI checkpoints, and people actually ride in cabs and busses in the rare case that they're not staying the night.

Given that everyone else seems to understand this without a second thought - "everyone" consisting of folks coming in from all corners of the country - I'm assuming that ABQ is the only place in the universe where the default position is drive home. This comes despite the fact that ABQ is probably the place in the US best suited to having other people crash at your place, given the fact that everyone lives in a large place, everyone has air conditioning so can control for the body heat draped all about the living room, and everyone has multiple bathrooms. I mean, I had a 1600 square foot condo with three bedrooms, three full baths, a fold out couch, and a near endless supply of floor and bed space (s###, I had two king-size beds). I lived there alone. As far as I know, nobody ever even gave a thought to spending the night if I had them over, just as I wouldn't have thought about crashing at their places if I was over there. If you had to crash someplace, it was because your ride ditched you, and you bought breakfast the next morning for the inconvenience.

Up here, I have an 800-some square foot one bedroom with one bath. If I were to have a party, I'd have a couple mother######ers sharing my bed with me (and not in the good sense), in addition to all the folks draped over the rest of my furniture, plus a ######ing line at the bathroom the next morning, and I'll bet there's nobody buying me pancakes.

I've never gotten so drunk that I've passed out or vomited because I would've never had been able to work out the logistics of driving home afterwards, and I don't really have any particular desire to try that out now. My little sister, who is a much bigger party animal that I've ever been, has only ever vomited from drink once in her life, which she did at home, after leaving her car at her friend's place (she, like everyone else there, intended to be driving home at the end of the evening, but drank too much) and catching a ride home in the back of someone else's pickup. Probably only around half of my ABQ friends have anything approaching a similar story. Mother######ers up here in Boulder are vomiting and passing out in restaurants, bars, other folks' homes, ######ing everywhere, all the goddamn time.
