Enigma! A long neglected Trash Talk Tradition

Back in the day, this was a staging ground for the once glorious Ares community to introduce us to early MMORPGs and as a ground for our plotting and scheming therein. Well these days the sorts of games we played can't compete with the likes of EVE and WoW. However those games have one flaw: they take all day. Okay, two flaws: a huge, faceless and impersonal community and administration.
But if you're looking for something that based (loosely) on an Ambrosia game and will only take at most 15 minutes of your day, check out Enigma. It's essentially a browser based MMO version of the Escape Velocity series but more personable. Anyway, I at least recomend that you all check it out (assuming you already haven't).
Also, this may be a good way to revitalize this withering Ares community.

I remember reading about that a while back. I think I tried it but got too busy to seriously take a look at it. I *might* consider getting into it again – at the least I'll bookmark the page.

At last he came to a door, with these words in glowing emeralds: THE END OF THE WORLD. He did not hesitate. He opened the door and stepped through.

Sarg has successfully couped the Groovy Empire. I founded the Hunters' Guild way back in the day, and got stuck with only two powerful pieces of tech (Guild Frigate and Antimatter Reactor).
Are you saying Enigma has no Admin problems? Where are your commods?
Back in the day, it was The Hideout (topic, topic) which has been dead for years now.

You put what in my Power Mac?
Its like what happens when you cross a phoenix with a super black hole; it's powerful enough to destroy itself, only to be reborn in a vicious cycle of torment and pain. Or in this case, nonsense.
-Avatara, on the life cycle of ATT.
Dude, imagine Redline Trash Talk; the unholy spawn of B&B and ATT.

Will not get involved in a creation/evolution debate.
We're being overrun!

I used to play it, back when Patrick allowed us to make up our own factions. My biggest complaint then is if you died, you were starting from scratch, so the gap between you and other players that got "lucky" just kept growing and growing until nobody could take down the top person (similar to the problem Hyperiums has). Has the game been modified since then?
"Sometimes I get confused whether I'm posting on ATT or in the War Room. But then I remind myself: If it's moderators acting scatter-brained and foolish, then it's the War Room*.

It's changed a bit. You can still make your own faction (though that's inadvisable at the moment as there aren't any uncolonized planets) and if you get killed, how ever much cash you have left determines your grace period. As an indie, you shouldn't have much to worry about right now.
As for the "top person", that's guys fleet is so expensive that he needs two governments at least to throw him money, which is quite a feat as there's a limit to the amount one player can transfer to another*.
*One player can't transfer money to someone that has more before or after the transaction. I.e. if AppleCore has 5,000,000, you had 4,000,000 the most that could be transferred would be 500,000.

Those are Indie planets. They are off limits to colonyships.

Yeah, you need to use PayPal to get the indie worlds.

I hadn't thought of that...
We also need minions for evil plans.

Sarg borrowed one, but it got blown up...
