As the polypoid receded into the distance, Dark's voice trailed back to them on the wind:

"Now you've - oof! - gone and - ugh! - done it - aagh! - You stupid..."

Dark's voice mercifully halted in mid sentence, as his head hit the ground one too many times.

Dusk suddenly realised that Dark had actually been carried away, still stuck to the 'root' of the polypoid. "Oi, wait a minute, how'd you get back here?"

When the tree got nuke, Dark got vapourised and returned instantly in a different location. It just happened to be beside Dawn, Dusk and Night. Dark didn't know how this had happened, however.

...but Dark wasn't fooled by a feint so easily as he cleverly blocked the thrust with his pouch of oboloi, which was promptly seized by Dawn. Dark smiled to himself as he gloated over his victory, "I bet they didn't see that one coming!"

Then Dawn sprinted as fast as she could, away from the other three, two of whom chased after her shouting "Come back with my money!", while the third crawled after them as fast as he could with a broken leg.

He then tried to run away, but was hampered by a broken leg, and fell down another hole (what they were doing there was beyond the four adventurers); the other three clambered out of their hole, couldn't see Dark, thought he had somehow managed to run away, and sprinted off North, completely failing to hear or see Dark moaning in the hole.

Dark looked around nervously. "This hole must be where the polypoid pulled up one of its roots," he thought. Suddenly, four sets of glowing eyes blinked open in the darkness.
