Dark was so happy that they had decided to leave that he started jumping for joy in the tree when suddenly the branch broke and he fell down.

The fall was ill timed, and Dark's left leg snapped at the impact.

*OoC*
Nice to see you around, Jehezekel.

Dark realized that he had a choice between calling for help from the other three and paying his debt or probably starving to death.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at things), the others heard Dark's fall and came running back, intent on getting their money.

Dark could hear them coming, he knew that he was in danger so he tried to scurry away but without much success.

When he tried to flee, Dark tripped over a tree root and fell in a hole.

He had only fallen five feet, when another tree root caught his right foot.

The tree root groaned, ominously...

"Oh, don't mind that ominous groaning sound because I'm certain that it's just one of my hallucinations," Dawn said. As she spoke, the tree began to uproot itself...

Night screamed. Dusk reacted quickly and pulled out his handy can of "Ominiously Groaning and Self-Uprooting Tree Killer," which he promptly sprayed on the tree.

The "Ominiously Groaning and Self-Uprooting Tree Killer" merely made the tree sneeze.

That's when it dawned on Dawn that this was no ordinary Ominously Groaning and Self-Uprooting Tree.

Moveing (a small, six-legged lizard Dawn had adopted as a pet) decided it didn't like being kept, and convulsively leaped out of Dawn's hands into the high, waving pseudo-branches of the polypoid.

That was the last that anyone ever saw of poor Moveing. The polypoid now turned its attention to the four humans standing in front of it and realized that it was really quite hungry.

"Excuse me, would you humans happen to have any spare food with you?" A deep voice croaked out.

Dark, still caught on the 'tree root', was about to call out "Hey, don't forget about me," but thought better of it.

Unfortunately for Dark, Dawn, recalling the Dark's outstanding debts, said, "Hey, why don't you eat him?" Fortunately for Dark, the polypoid misheard her and thought she said, "Why don't you eat Cademia?"

So the polipoid groaningly uprooted itself and lurched toward the mother city. Dusk turned to Dawn and said "Why'd you say that? Now I have to be a hero again! Didn't I save you from the 1ft terracotta Alarics?"
