My family (my dad and I were not present) has been involved in a car accident. They were rear-ended and the car rolled.

My niece, nephew, older brother, and sister-in-law were fine, although the last two were somewhat banged up. My mother has a broken arm but is also fine.

Wizard and my sister were both ejected from the car. They are stable at the hospital, but I do not know the extent of their injuries.

I would be deeply grateful for your prayers (especially for Wizard and my sister) in this circumstance.

That's terrible to hear Selax. I hope everything turns out okay for all of you.

I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear that. :( Your family is definitely in my thoughts, and I hope everyone recovers soon. Let us know how things go.

I know you must be worried if you're posting a topic about your personal life. I've been praying. I really hope they're okay.

*hugs* <3

Wow. That's terrible. Will do, Selax.

Thank you all for your support. I'm extremely grateful.

I just got back from the hospital. My sister-in-law has a fractured elbow that will require surgery but is otherwise fine. My older brother and his kids are okay (which is really good considering he was also apparently ejected from the car as it rolled). He has a gash on his arm, a swollen foot, and a pinched back nerve but is otherwise fine.

Besides bruises and abrasions, Wizard has a fracture in his lumbar which will require him to wear a brace for a couple of weeks, although he will probably take 8 to 10 weeks to physically recover fully. He is likely to be released in the next day or two.

My mother's condition is more serious than initially reported. She has a fractured wrist which will require surgery. She also has a couple of cracks in the lumbar. More seriously, she has a fracture in her neck. She has full motor sensation, but the doctors are uncertain whether she will require surgery or if the injury can safely be allowed to heal on its own.

Pray especially for my sister. In addition to having the same fracture in the neck as my mother, she has a very, very bad spinal fracture. The doctors think she will probably not be able to walk again. We won't know until the swelling goes down, so none of us are giving up. Please pray for a miracle.

Again thank you all. I cannot say how much I appreciate your support and prayers.

I'll keep praying. I'm sorry your sister's condition looks so unhappy. I hope it's not as bad as the doctors think. Relatively good news about Wizzy, I guess.

At first I thought you said "monkey balls" which is what my mom always called monkey bread, and I thought, what's wrong with sucking on monkey bread? Then I realized you said donkey, not monkey, but that doesn't really make any more sense. I think maybe it's a vulgar way of saying "that's unpleasant"?

Sely- Is there any update? Did your sister's (I've met her at least twice & yet I can't remember her name. Oh well) swelling go down? Was Wizzy released from the hospital? Has anyone had any surgeries? I'll continue to pray.

My sister-in-law spoke to another surgeon about her arm today. I don't think surgery is required, but it turns out that the splint placed on her arm actually compressed and muscles somewhat. She will require some physical therapy.

Wizard has been released. He is staying with some family friends whose house is more conducive to recovery at this point (fewer stairs and such). He plans to return home on Friday.

My mother had surgery on her wrist, but she is doing a lot better. She's been able to sit up (for forty-five minutes last I heard) and start walking a bit. She hopes to be released in a few days.

My sister has been moved out of the ICU, and the nurses have helped her to sit up somewhat. She has regained sensation around her tailbone (a hopeful sign), but nothing lower than the top of her legs yet. Her spinal column was not transected by the injury which is good news. We are still hoping. Please keep praying for her and the others.

Again, thank you all for your support and prayers. It is greatly appreciated.

Just a little update for everyone:

Today my mother and I are both back home. I'm healing up just fine; the brace helps keep my back from aching when I'm moving about. My legs still hurt a lot but are improving. My mother will have to wear a cast and neck brace for the next few weeks, so she's a little worse off. Although, she's been sounding much better today.

My sister's road to recovery will be much longer and more difficult. I would ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She's had numerous surgeries by now and is still enduring terrible levels of pain from all that she's been through.

Life's a funny thing. A simple trip to a family dinner can radically change your life in a split-second. I think we'd all like to go back to how everything was a little over a week ago, but all we can do now is accept what we have been given and move forward. I am very grateful that everyone survived the accident, which surprised just about everybody who stopped to help I think, given the severity of the accident. Anyways, that's my little Wizard's Wondering for the day.

I can't tell you all enough how much I appreciate your support. My family as a whole has received an enormous outpouring of love and support from people in the community, friends new and old, church members, and others. It means a lot to all of us. Thank you!
Wizard

IT'S WIZARD! YOU'RE OKAY!

Well, as okay as can be expected given the circumstances, I guess.

Continued well wishes to all your family, especially your sister.

*Hugs Wizzy* I'm really glad you're okay! That was scary!

So the moral of this story is, never go out to dinner with your family, instead stay in your room and avoid human contact. Or is the moral to accept what you've been given and move forward? Hmm.

I'm so sorry for your sister :( I will continue to pray.

Good news :) .

My sister has been regaining some sensation in her legs and tailbone. She has also moved her legs slightly. Her injury has been downgraded from "A to A complete" to "A to B incomplete." The doctors are going to attempt having her stand somewhat tomorrow. Please pray that this goes well and that she continues to recover.

Thank you all again for your support.

Well, my mother's neck brace is off, and we're hoping she'll get the cast off of her arm soon.

My sister-in-law is mostly recovered. She is experiencing a good deal of stress as a result of the accident.

Wizard is doing well. He has returned to work during the week, but the amount he can lift is still limited.

My sister is to be released this week, but the hospital is hoping to work something out where she can stay another week or two, so that they can keep working with her. The doctors have yet to comment on how much mobility she might regain. Her legs are not load-bearing, but the therapists are still working on them. She is able to move her knees very slightly.

Again, thank you all for your prayers.

My sister is coming home tomorrow. They had her up on the parallel bars today, and she took five small steps :) .

The pins have been removed from my mother's arm, and her cast is off. She is still having a lot of pain, but she is improving.

Thank you all again for your prayers and support :) .
