I pessimistically don't expect a response to this, but I hope to be delightedly surprised.

Today I decided to check on the Cythera Chronicles board. It didn't take me long. Last post: October 28, 2008. By myself, no less. The last Chron to be posted was October 22. That was a long time ago. I was saddened by this.

So I propose a new challenge!

Challenge: Write a Cythera love-story.

*Evilgrin*

I don't mean it has to be a romance, comedy would probably be even better ^_~

There's plenty of Cytheran pairings to play off of, Jhiaxus & Jinrai, Antenor & Hebe, Crito & Hebe, Hapede & whoever gave her that ring, Will & Union (if you'd like to decide those are the names of people), Hadrian & Emesa, Magpie & Chrysothemis, Areithous & Laodice, the Dodona couples... Probably loads others I can't think of right now. Or totally made-up characters! I personally have wanted to write a Chron about Antenor and Hebe for a while, but never have :( Maybe I will now!

I won't post any requirements, but I'll give Extra Points for any (or as many) of the following:
-If it is less than 500 words
-If it contains a mystery
-If it mentions nectarines, or even tangerines. You know what, even tambourines
-If it is more than 10,000 words
-If it contains ratlizards
-If it involves the male lead-character sleeping outdoors in the rain
-If it contains the phrase "this water's wet!"
-If the Nexus Lord appears out of nowhere and kills someone

I suppose the deadline is the end of this month, since this is Valentine's-month, but better late than never.

Honestly I just want someone, preferably not myself, to write a Chron, even if it's not in response to this challenge. I mean, look how sad the Chron board is. It's really sad ;_;

(Please consider this a priority above any priorities any teacher gives you :P)

P.S. Sometimes I feel like Shorty's the only one who even attempts to keep the Chron-board alive. If he's the only one to respond to this, shame on the rest of you! If absolutely no one responds, the Chron-board is truly dead. ;_;

Happy writing! ^_^

Hm. I think a chron could be a nice change of pace from TS's. I'll play.

I'll also redirect everyone to Slayers's guide of the people of Cythera, for inspiration and research:

So the only way to do both of these is to make it a multi-parter?

I just assumed it would be impossible, but good point ^_^

Thankies for the linky, Two Jacks.

Well it's not looking too good... I've been begging Shorty to respond to my challenge, but he doesn't seem interested at all. I tried writing a Chron myself a couple of days ago, but only got four pages into it before I gave up because it was dead-boring. Have I always been this uncreative?

Still hoping Two Jacks will come through for us ^_^ Or maybe someone will surprise us and post a Chron unannounced!

Well, a picture's worth a thousand words, so you could write a 499-word story with 10 illustrations... :P

Not a response to my challenge, but even better: City has written a compelling chronicle depicting the mentality of Eurybates! (He's the cook dude at the iron mine, by the way, in case anyone besides myself previously found him so unimportant as to not even remember his name.)
The Chron-board lives again :D

I also think Kat's come up with a wonderful idea - an illustrated Chron would be really cool. It would also be a perfect job for herself, who's gifted in both writing and drawing ^_~

And whose reading break ends in a few days, after which she goes back to school, and then maybe back to school some more, and then out of the country for a month, and then back to school, and... :P

Hey, you have infinitely* more time in school than you get in the Real World™.

*Okay, maybe 'infinite' is a stretch, but its still a number between 4 and 10.

I've thought a bit about writing a chron (not in response to this challenge most likely, though), but I'm not certain if I'll ever work up the time or the motivation. I'm afraid that I'm rather busy these days.

I'm touched that someone remembered my assassin character by the way.
Long Live Cythera! Long Live the Cythera Web Board!

I now run a TS Character Killing Service.

I think Tyry has a point: In school you can always write a story to procrastinate against doing homework. In the Real World™ there's not much time left after work and sleeping. 40 hours a week may sound like nothing, but when you add in lunch breaks, commuting time, and regularly being kept late, the whole day is pretty dead...

But at least you don't get home from a concert in the middle of the night and still have to write an essay by the next morning! :D

Sely- Like I've said, you need to work on your priorities. Try my writing-while-procrastinating idea ^_^

Yeah "40 hours a week" is a myth. Try 60+.
