Especially since quite a bit of it requires a special German character which is not found on this particular keyboard.

Besides, that translation of My Hat (called Mein Hut, obviously) is one of the first things we learn in German I, which I'm still currently attending.
And no, she doesn't speak German, but she said she might start taking Spanish Sophmore or Junior year.

I think you guys' advice is working. Only about 2 weeks ago, she wouldn't answer her phone for me at all no matter when I called her, now she'll always answer unless it's First Friday, her phone's off, or she's doing something important. Thanks guys!

But hey, the more advice, the better.

If you have a Mac, option-S gives you ß.
Option-u followed by a vowel gïvës yöü ümläütëd vöwëls.

Also, vwcosmos: No, you just put the third line in past tense.

Hmm. I went and looked it up, and apparently Zaphod is right (well, except on the third line you used "sein" instead of "haben" and you used the singular form for Ecke). I guess the song's just grammatically incorrect, which is OK for a song.
I have no idea why the first line isn't "Mein Hut, hat er drei Ecken," though. It doesn't change the flow of anything at all and it'd make it correct. Guess they just wanted it to be a direct translation.

Just remember though, when artistic license isn't in play, the verb for the most part always goes in the "second" position!

My sig shows exactly how I learned it, and it fits the song's tune, as well.

I'm learning Italian and so far it has helped me with 0% of my relationships concerning girls...

(granted i'm already in a relationship but still....)

Once I can actually say something useful (other than Damn you) in German, I may actually use some of that in front of her, see if she notices.

EDIT: You know what? I think the reason this is hard for me is because of my past reputation. I used to be an angry person. Maybe, if I was a happier person, more people overall would like me, including her....

But I'm already working on that one.

Oh, I'm only taking German because I'm interested in it. I've got my own personal psychologist helping me with anger.

No, no, I didn't mean that German was going to make you any more or less angry.
But if you have a problem with being seen as an angry person, walking around speaking in German isn't exactly going to change that reputation.
