Mystic armor

How to get

First, get the strange device. Go into the harpy cave as described in Find Harpy Egg for Pheres. Deep inside the cave, there is a pedestal with a pattern on it. Use the three buttons on the top of the strange device to make it match the pattern. It may take a while to get the patterns to match, so be patient.

Information

The mystic armor is the most powerful armor in the game.

Sword of heroes

How to get

Go to the Temple of Scylla at location U on my map of Cythera. From the entrance go east until you almost reach the dirt. Go north through the door. Search the skeleton that is on the ground. You will find several keys. Take them. Also in this room is a chest. Move it. Under it, you will find a lever. Flip the lever. Go south into the room opposite the one with the lever. Use your keys to open the locked door. Walk east through the door until you reach the sword.

Information

This is by far the most powerful sword in the game. It also works as a low power torch.

Omen's ring

How to get

Enter Omen's Test. There are two ways to get into Omen's Test. The first way is at the beginning of the game when Omen teleports you there. The other way is to go to Cademia. Inside House Comana, there is a single crate in the corner. Under it is lever. Move the crate, then flip the lever. This opens a secret door in a house just to the southeast of House Comana. Go down the lever behind the door. Get to the starting room of Omen's test. In the starting room, there is a secret door. Behind that secret door, to the west, is another secret door. Behind that secret door is a room with a wall torch. Search the wall torch to get Omen's Ring.

Information

Omen's ring causes hit points to regenerate at nearly three times the normal rate when worn. That means, if you have the ring on, you won't die from poison.

Belt of strength

How to get

First, get a shovel. Shovels can be found in the iron mine, or purchased from the ratcatchers guild. Go to the castle in Cademia. In the northeast corner, there is a sundial. It is behind locked door. Use the shovel to dig two spaces north of the sundial. Go down the hole. You are now in the tyrant's tomb. You will need the spell 'remote manipulation' to open the portcullis. Use 'remote manipulation' on the lever just behind the portcullis to open it. Go into the eastern portion of the tomb. There are many levers and many secret doors. You will need to keep flipping levers for a while. You will need to re-use a lever that is in the maze to get to the final lever. This can take a great deal of time, so be persistant. The final lever will create a crossing over the water to the western part of the tomb. Open the locked door, then go south to the bells. Numbered from west to east, ring the bells in this order: 3,2,4,1. It is possible that other combinations do other things. For example, 1,2,4,3 will lock you in. If you do it right, you will the portcullis to the north opening. Go north to the throne room. Sit on the western throne. This will open a secret door to the west. Inside is a coffer that contains the belt and a large amount of money.

Information

When worn, the belt of strength increases your strength by five points.

Magical staff

How to get

Get the mission Timeflux book to Charax. The staff is found on the same skeleton as the timeflux book.

Additionally, in Cademia's slums, there is a room filled with mushrooms. Search the largest mushroom in the room. That will reveal a skeleton. Searching the skeleton will get you a staff. Thanks to all the people who let me know about this one!

Information

In addition to being a weak weapon, the magical staff can produce incapacitating effects in opponents when used. The staff only has a limited number of charges, so choose wisely.

Purple crystal ball

How to get

Go to the stronghold at location V on my map of Cythera. There are liches, so be ready for them. Go east into the stronghold to the room where you meet a lich. Go down the stairs in that room. Once downstairs, go to the room to the west. The crystal ball is a table in that room.

Information

This ball detects secrets. It usually seems worthless, because there aren't very many secret things in Cythera. It consumes a small amount of mana for each use, and has a limited number of charges.

Blue crystal ball

How to get

Go to the stronghold at location V on my map of Cythera. There are liches, so be ready for them. Go east into the stronghold to the room where you meet a lich. Go down the stairs in that room. Once downstairs, go through the metal door you see to the east. In that room is a coffer. Get the ring that is inside the coffer and put it on. Now, go to the stronghold at location W on my map of Cythera. Since you are wearing the ring, the stronghold shouldn't disappear. The ball is at the center of the stronghold. There are many powerful monsters inside, including several Demons, so take appropriate precautions. There are also four mage locked doors that must be penetrated. I wish you the best of luck in getting to the ball.

Information

The blue crystal ball acts like a farsight potion when used. It has a limited number of charges, and consumes a small amount of mana when used.

How to carry more than you can lift

Put a container with a large carrying capacity into the inventory of the character that you want to have carry too much. I recommend a chest as it holds up to 255 grains, though most any container will work. Put what you want to take(up to the capacity of the container) into the bag. Now, drag the contents of the container into the main inventory of the character. Repeat as many times as desired! I have most of my characters carrying dozens of times their carrying capacity in this. This trick also works on containers as well.

How to take stuff without stealing it

Just move the stuff you want to take before picking it up. For some reason, it isn't counted as stealing if you do that. Unfortunately, this doesn't work with some items, but it does for most.

How to get a lot of money

First, complete the mission Rescue Kidnapped Ariadne. Then, get at least 7 oboloi, though more is better. Go to the flax farm and talk to Pelops. Tell him "flax," then buy as much flax as you can. Go to Odemia to talk to Hebe. Sell her all your flax. Go back to the flax farm and repeat as many times as you want. When the money Hebe gives you starts falling on the ground use the trick to carry as much as you want. Keep in mind that you can't pick up all the money at once.

How to send stuff into oblivion

The most powerful spell in the game is one that doesn't even function correctly: Fetch. It's supposed to bring you remote objects. Instead, it destroys them. Therein lies its power. It doesn't just destroy stuff you can pick up, it also destroys most any unliftable object. Can't find the last few sapphire books? Just use Fetch on the doors to the halls! Can figure out how to open the stone door/portcullis/secret door? Annihilate it with Fetch! Tired of corruption in Kosha? Leave town, then use Fetch to send the whole city to oblivion! Don't like the pit behind the Two-Tailed Rat? Another job for Fetch! I will warn you that indiscriminate use of Fetch can be dangerous. Sending cities into oblivion may make the game impossible to beat, and other uses skip parts of the storyline. Also it won't work on things that are parts of the actual terrain, such as walls and trees, nor will it work on people or monsters. David Copperfield has nothing on us.

How to use Pandora's Box

First you must have Pandora's Box. Download it here if you don't already have it.

To be able to use Pandora's Box, you should know basically how computer memory works. Each application has specific space allocated to it. At each address, a value is stored. All these values are variables in the game. They can be anything from the number of training points you have to the type of tile at x-17 by y-32.

The problem presented by this when it comes to cheating is that no one except the application(in our case, Cythera) knows what any of those values represent just by looking at them. To cheat, you have to be able to figure out what address you're looking for. Enter Pandora's Box.

To figure out what you're looking for, Pandora's box needs to know the current value that is in the memory location. Obviously, with the millions of different addresses allocated to Cythera, some values are going to be the same, so you have to search multiple times(usually). The most effective way to do this is to go back into the game to change your value. This is usually as simple as training once. Then go back to Pandora's box to search for the new value.

When you have found the address you're looking for, Pandora's Box can change the value to whatever you want. Gotta love unprotected memory. Training points are a byte value, by the way, so only use byte mode for that.

Example: I want to change my training points. Since I doubt Glenn Andreas allocated more than a byte to training points, I set the search to byte. If I set it too high, it won't find what I'm looking for. Currently, I have 5 training points. I search for '5'. Pandora's Box comes up with 10,000 matches. Back in the game, I go train. Now I have 4 points. I search for '4'. Pandora's box finds 7 matches. I go back to the game and train again. Now I have 3 points. I search for '3'. Pandora's Box locates a single match. That is the value I'm looking for. I change the value to 255 in Pandora's Box. When I go back to Cythera, I have 255 training points. Yay!

In addition to doing these searches, if you know the address you are looking for, you can select that one out of this, only searching once. Also, when you change a value, you can just type in the decimal equivalent of the address in the address field. Here are some valuable addresses:

Table 1

All addresses are byte values unless otherwise specified. These codes are for use with Cythera version 1.0.3, and may not work with other versions. Quite frankly, I would be surprised if they did. I take no responsibility if this messes up your game. No warranties expressed or implied and all that.

If you don't feel like dealing with Pandora's Box, here is a saved game(version 1.0.3) at the very beginning with 255 training points.

How to open locks

This is a pretty simple one, but I thought I'd include it anyway. There are several ways to open conventional locks. The most obvious way is to use the right key on it. Since you likely have a lot of keys, just hit the 'k' key, then click on the lock. That tries all your keys on the lock. If that fails, you can attack the locked object. Virtually any weapon will work, but the best by far is a mace. Another way to open locks is to use the spell "Open" on it. If Aethon is in your party and you have lock picks, you can have him try to pick the lock. Also, if you have the skill 'locks' and a lock pick, you can try to pick the lock yourself. If you have the spell "Fetch," you can use that on a door to destroy it. Finally, if you have a bomb, you can light it, then put it in front of the locked object. The explosion will take a door right off its hinges.

Mage locks are a little bit trickier. Bombs will destroy doors and open chests. You can also use the spell "Remove Mage Lock" on the lock. Once again, the spell "Fetch" will send doors into oblivion. Have fun getting through locks!

How to get into portals you can't reach

Is a portcullis blocking a stairway or forcefields blocking a hole in the ground? Then this one's for you. Just use the spell "Remote Manipulation" on the portal you want to go through. I recommend having the spell "Directed Nexus," because you can't always get out as easily as you can get in.

How to make stuff stay where you leave it

One problem that many people run into is that when you leave stuff on the ground, it disappears by the time you come back. There are a couple ways to make things 'stick'. First, find a crate. If you want the crate to stay there, cast 'Replicate' on it. Slide the crate to the position that you want to put the object. Put the object that you want to have stick into the crate. Now attack the crate until it is destroyed. The contents are now on the floor. The contents are stuck. Another way is to clear out the inventory of one of your teammates(not you), except for the item you want to stick. When you get the character into the right place, cast 'Shake Down' on that character. If he drops the object, it will be stuck. This may take a couple of tries. Using these methods, I was able to decorate my house in Cademia.

How to replicate heavy stuff

Some objects are difficult to replicate because they are too heavy. To replicate such objects, first make it stick on to the map. Now cast replicate on it. Certain objects can't be replicated in this, such as magical objects, but most can be. You can replicate things that have a quantity up to 255 at a time. Money, food, and alchemical components can all be replicated in this way. If you replicate diamonds, then sell them, you can become very rich very quickly. 255 diamonds will get you about 6400 oboloi. You can replicate things multiple times, so if you foresee a need for more, leave at least one stuck object so you can come back to it later.
