Well, I noticed that there wasn't one of these, and the lack of a place devoted specifically to Tavern discussion and OOC posts seemed a little odd to me. So this is me attempting to be helpful.

Use this thread for various ideas that don't quite fit into other threads, to set up collaboration with other writers, or for the announcement of events like TSs.

I'll start us off with something small:

I'm a few minutes away from posting to introduce my new character (I generally write the whole post in Word first, then copy and paste it in).

Edit: I cheated quite a bit in that post, Rythan's initial description is so intricate that I merely copied/pasted from his character description post then changed words here and there rather than try to do so from scratch.

That's because the Tavern is usually so random, there's not a lot to discuss. ;) It might be useful, though. On that note, I might get you to change something in your post a little - two of the others at the table can be fine, but the third has got himself into a slight predicament. :P

If you'd care to elaborate I'll edit right away :P

Heh, edits made. I tried to edit in such a way that I'd get to keep my furniture joke, but if it's a bit off I can redo that last half of the post, would just take a little while to do :P

Thanks, Ragnar0k, that's much better.

You know, that's vaguely reminiscent of Flynn's entry into the tavern, back in Tavern III. :P

Heh, I haven't gotten around to reading through all the Taverns just yet, but I seem to recall Flynn's entrance through the roof being mentioned somewhere.

Not quite through the roof, but it was another of the Tavern's roofless days. :P

Here's how it went:

Meanwhile, the air at the centre of the tavern begins to shimmer and glow, much like the exit portal for a directed nexus - yet somehow subtly different. The glow thickens into the form of a man, then fades.

The stranger looks around at the scorched floor, the statue-like figure, and the open sky visible through what's left of the roof, then looks at the group with a somewhat bemused expression.

"Pardon me, but is this establishment open for business?"

On that note... last I heard, the floor was solid brick, not wood. And a Demon had been dropped down the hole.

The Tavern is a random place, prone to constant change.

Yea, as far as I can gather the lore is a bit different from Tavern to Tavern, which makes confusion easy. However, we can use this thread to keep track of this Tavern :P

Interesting. I didn't know about that, I wasn't around at the time, and didn't think anyone else had ever bothered with the hole! I suppose I really should catch up on the 'missing years', sometime. :P

I don't think that I've ever seen a Tavern with an OoC topic before...generally, I think it functions as its own OoC topic.

Selax, you're being too pessimistic. :P I, for one, think I'll be able to find some use for this topic in the future. I think anyways. I have to catch up in the tavern first and the new TS and just about every other topic out there...

There was a bit of turbulence on the way up, and I am chronically scared of takeoff and landings. But hey, I'm here!

I have a question: Is it taboo to intruduce Chronicle characters to the tavern? Because I have four, maybe five ready-made.

Crazy, whoever told you to make up as many characters as Chey, I don't think they were serious...

Chey? ;)

It can certainly get difficult keeping track of large numbers of characters. Let's see, I've got the seven Ronin, Sideline, the Scribe, Brianna, Temrel, Kronos, Mort, Kurt, Jadia, and eight more awaiting introduction. B)

One thing that helps is to try and make each character unique in some aspect of their personality, and to focus on that. Sometimes things still get a little blurry, though. Lately, Brianna's been turning into a bit of a ditz, and I'm not really sure why. :P

I need to do something about people questioning their abbreviations. For the last time, everyone loves their abbreviations!

And also, it's harder for the rest of us to keep track of all the characters, since we didn't even make them up :P

It wouldn't be so bad if half of them weren't non-sensical.

Sooner or later I'm going to have to pin a topic just to list all of your characters, so people can keep up. ;)

But I like having multiple characters! You can plot things with them! I think I will introduce one character from my chronicle, and keep the others for chronicles only. Good idea? Bad idea? If things get too complicated, I will have a job for Selax.

Sounds good to me. In my opinion, you could introduce as many as you like to the TS-realm so long as you can stay on top of them.
