Hmm, good points; what I had imagined the Undine as doing in this TS was using the group to find the Sword for them. However, at times, some of them lose their patience and attempt to jump in ahead of time, such as by kidnapping Retsy.

I'd have thought that patience would be one of their strongest characteristics, but oh well.

Well, the only thing that I can really come up with is an ability that DF gave Selax in one his posts in Echoes: that he can enchant his swords. Perhaps, because Selax is something of an elemental himself, this enables him to injure them? Are the Undine immune to magic/enchanted weapons?

It's never really been established, so I don't see why they should be. I have no objection to them being killed, it just needs to be done with appropriate consideration for the consequences.

This is too something I had forgotten. Since there are only five Seldane, wouldn't it be impossible to be able to kill an equal number? Maybe Jhiaxus could perish?

Five that we know about. As with Ignae and Ursylph, I think there would be equal numbers of Undine and Seldane. As for Jhiaxus,

I think that Alaric already knows about it, since the group stopped by LKH earlier in the story.

Oops, forgot about that.

View PostSelax, on Jan 13 2007, 09:38 AM, said:

What I had thought of was that the Seldane's plan in this was to let the group get the Sword and take it to Alaric, which they could then use to sway Balance in their favor (since they like the Undine care mostly about their own interests). The two options that I had thought up were that the group either destroys the Sword or gives to Magpie (so that it can be found later if it is needed); however, I don't know how well either of these works and am beginning to lean toward something Jehezekel suggested on #cythera. Could the Sword be given to Kronos for safekeeping? I shall probably use this, at least temporarily, in my post. I'll edit it to match whatever choice is reached.

Except that noone in the group really knows about Kronos, aprt from Moonshadow. Hmm, I suppose if you had her suggest it...

View PostSelax, on Jan 13 2007, 09:38 AM, said:

On the subject of continuity, perhaps the DK's tampering with the elementals somehow caused Kronos to "sleep" longer than they and the war caused enough damage to prolong this sleep? Then, after the war, someone brings the Tempus stone (one of the only artifacts powerful enough to block the DK and Chimaera) to Cythera, establishing the quarantine and enabling Kronos to wake up. This also could establish a barrier that he has difficulty seeing through, although the destruction of the Stone may have removed this.

Ooo, I like! Solves all the issues, as far as I can see.

Erm, I had another thought, but I lost it. I'll post it later if I figure out what it was. :P

Oh yeah, got it.

With regard to the conclusion reached by Moonshadow on which weapons came first, she needn't necessarily have gotten it right. You have to consider that both she and Brianna have something of an attachment to the Ronin, and they'd want them to be first. That would colour their perceptions slightly.

I don't think so; I think he's supposed to be alive but wants to die.

Actually, the last post ends in the Tavern, where Jehezekel—who knows about Kronos—has just recently appeared. He overhears and states that he has a solution. The Sword vanishes, and he says something cryptic when asked where it went. Moonshadow assures everyone else that Sword is now safe. Then, perhaps Alaric could summon a few of the group to LKH (although this could happen in the Tavern posts).

Oh, of course - Jehezekel knows Kronos from the alternate Cythera. Yes, that would work perfectly.

Isn't the balance swayed towards the Undine a bit already? So losing a few shouldn't hurt. I don't know, I'm just guessing aloud.

That was something that occurred to me this morning - maybe Alaric could let the balance slip a little in the Seldane's favour (perhaps to punish the Undine for interfering?), let all the Seldane live, and Cythera could gain a few small islands. :P

Indeed, I think that what we need at the moment is Avatara to move Buzzzzy's post and lock the TS.

Maybe Avatara should stop tormenting Selax and edit it himself. I hear that moderators are so all-powerful they can do stuff like that.

Hmm, should we continue discussing the TS here, or would it be worth the time to create a feedback topic, like the one from Echoes?

EDIT: Although the next TS may not be started until sometime in February (due to the customary delay between TSs, the beginning of school, etc.), should I go ahead and bump this topic so that it may be used as a place to discuss ideas for the next TS?
