Sinclair44, as Selax has already said, thanks a bunch for the effort that you put into writing those directions! :P
This topic wouldn't even exist had it not been for your Sheepshaver topic on the Ferazel forums. . .

I have a quick question for anyone who may have updated to Leopard: How does Sheepshaver run? Does it seem to run normally, or is it incompatible?

Yes, I'm bumping this one again as well. I may be updating to Leopard within the next few months (may be), so I'll post my reviews if and when that happens.

Also, I'm just curious if anyone has tried using Basilisk II to emulate Cythera on an Intel Mac?

Woo! Thanks to Wizard, I have 7.5.5 working (:

Now I need a version of Quicktime (>= 3) that works with it...

You're welcome :P

I may post an expanded tutorial sometime including the links that I gave to Kickme. Basically, even if you don't have classic or an old Mac OS to install, you can still get Sheepshaver or Basilisk II running very well on System 7.5.3. Kme, you wouldn't happen to be running Leopard would you?

Excellent! Then I'm sure it will work well for me when I upgrade to 10.5 ;)

I would also like to post a link to an amazingly helpful site I found regarding Sheepshaver and Basilisk II:
http://www.alkemic.com/music/travis/Mac%20...acEmulator.html

I have to give the writer of that page a big thanks from me for his helpful starter images! If you scroll down, he's included a tutorial with pictures of the process as well. Really, though, you don't need a tutorial. Just download his MacStartupImage, scroll down and download one of the several ROM images he provides, and download an emulator. You won't have to deal with any installation stuff or classic applications or anything. The MacStartupImage is a disk image that is running system 7.5.5, and it boots up instantly in Basilisk II. I have not tried Sheepshaver with it, but under his Sheepshaver section, he will be adding an image including OS 9.

Using that page, I was able to download everything I needed (emulator and all) and get up and running in minutes with Basilisk II.

The tutorial you linked to has moved: http://www.redundant...haver-tutorial/

Thanks for the update!

On a side note, I simply cannot believe that it has been nearly two years since the start of this thread. Time really flies.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Sheepshaver part of the Sheepshaver tutorial is missing.

That does seem to be a problem. . . I was sure it was there still when I last looked at that site some months ago, though.

By the way, if anyone using Sheepshaver should start to experience constant crashes when attempting to type anything, I suggest perusing this topic on the Sheepshaver forums.

It appears to be some sort of problem with quickdraw acceleration being enabled. Disabling it seems to fix the problem.

Given that the user is using Cythera in Sheepshaver and the name includes "Percy", one might guess that it was Percinator.

Also on the E-Maculation forums, they have a new manual for setting up Sheepshaver with Mac OS X:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~ronaldpr/sheepshaver...pshaver_manual/

Selax actually found this, but he didn't post it.

Question, I left my Cythera on my Mac OS 8.5 and now it's gone. I use a Windows XP now and have no way to play it with sheep shaver if I don't even have the game. Do I have to rebuy Cythera to be able to play it again with sheep shaver?

I'm useless when it comes to computer questions, but I wanted to say welcome to the Cythera boards! ^_^

Are you asking if you have to re-register? Because the answer to that would be no... But if that's not what you're asking, then I have no idea, *closed-teeth grin*.

The download is free. If you have the registration information like the license code, just download the game and enter your code. If you don't have the code, you can see if you can reclaim it on the Lost Code Support Page, though you'll probably need information like the name of the person that bought it and probably the email address it was registered to (ASW staff can assist you better with this).

You will have lost all saved games though, unless you saved those somewhere else.

Alright I understand. So I just have to download the trial then enter in the license code. Ok sounds simple enough

Nevermind I have fixed the problem. If anyone needs help with setting up SheepShaver for Windows 2000/Me/XP
or Linux refer here. http://emaculation.com/doku.php/sheepshaver_setup (Windows) at bottem of page.

Thought I should bump this topic given some recent developments in SheepShaver. In an effort to get Ferazel's Wand working in SheepShaver, it was discovered that the gamma correcting functions were not working as they should. This affected the gamma fade affects that Ferazel's Wand, EV: Nova, and Slithereens use. For some reason, Ambrosia's Monitor_Tool was crashing when the gamma fades were not working with these games. Cythera does have several fade effects, which do not run in SheepShaver, but they did not prevent the game from playing when they were unavailable. These include the fade through black from the Ambrosia logo to the splash screen, the fade from the splash screen to the menu, and the fade when a character goes to sleep.

However, thanks to Myrd from the Emaculation forums, the fade effects have been corrected. This means that Ferazel's Wand, EV:Nova, and Slithereens all run in SheepShaver now. An unintended effect is that Cythera's fade effects also work in the latest builds!

To download the latest builds, see the links near the bottom of the page on this Emaculation topic.
