Ya, I just go Ares. It seems pretty cool. Did everyone start playing Ares? I mean do most of you have extensive knowledge on the subject? If so let me know the ropes of playing. I'm planning on playing it alot over spring break.

Ares..... Ambrosia's best game. I wish it would run under OS X.3.x

I had pretty extensive knowledge of it, and the plug-in maker Hera back in the day..... I don't know what I remember now though.

Ares is great, but I wouldn't say it's Ambrosia's best.

I've played it and beaten it. I never got the chance to play network though. :P

You just wanted to slip that into the conversation, didn't you ;)

I played Ares once or twice, never really got into it. At the time I was heavily addicted to EV, so playing any other game wasn't easy :P

Just so you know...it won't run very well under Classic.

I played Ares on my Performa heavily, a bit on the G3, and havn't done much at all on this G4 since, as I say above, it hardly works on Classic.

I miss my old G3, it could run ares, however slowly. :P

Being a long time EVer, I could never get used to the differences in gameplay and general makeup between EV and Ares. I've played it a number of times, but have both never really accomplished anything or gotten into it.

Ah, Ares. In the glorious weeks after the rerelease, I was king of GameRanger... few could best me, few could even challenge me...

Then I got old. And rusty. And made the best plugin anyone ever made for it.

Which one is that?

Also, anyone know what is happening with the update to Ares that lets it run well under Classic?

Footsteps of Pyrrhus. I just checked, and it's still #1 rated after all these years.

As to the Classic update - nothing appears to be happening.

That was one fine plug man. Awesome plug. I'll still suck up to you because of that.

I did come conversions myself too - someone actually knew my name on #ev3 the other day... I was like... wow... But great stuff. Ares is the game that hooked me to Ambrosia and also the reason that you all get to talk to lovely little me every time you log onto the boards.

I would have loved to play your plug, but I was running a Centris 650, and Ares 1.2.0 didn't work very well, so I was using an older version that doesn't allow plug-ins.

I have Ares on my eMac now, but it does not run very well as most of you said. There better be an update for it to work.

Can you say "Ares X"? I'm hopin'.

Good lord. You played Ares in the Changeling days?
Or just an earlier Ambrosia version?

I remember your plug. I remember never beating the second level, and then upgrading my computer to something that can't handle ares anymore. :/

What was the changeling version of Ares? I remember my father saying he beta tested it - I thought that was why the file was on our machine... I remember he didn't like it and it had taken about 3 years for me to finally decide to install it...

Just confused.

The problem under Panther is the vector sprites - replace them and Ares runs pretty smoothly under Classic.
