Hardly anyone likes the taste of alcohol when they start drinking, otherwise we'd just have a nation of alcoholics. I still hate the taste of it all, especially beer,

It's actually quite interesting that the US's policy on alcohol being a lot more strict than other countries does seem to work - I hardly know any teetotallers, and a lot of people on here seem to abstain from it.

Over here it's pretty much standard to start binging at around 15, 16ish. I don't drink that much, but I have to say those nights when you go "###### it, I'm gonna throw up at the end of this" are fantastic.

Erm, dude, we do. Bing drinking is a fairly large problem here. Something like 70% of violent crimes are commited by drunk people.

And I agree with you about beer, I'm much more of a spirits man myself.

Drinking has always been an interesting issues for me. I don't smoke, and kinda dislike people who do, I don't do any drugs, and try not to take part in any activity that ######s up my body. The only thing I really kinda do is drink. I'm not sure why I do it, but it isn't much of an issue for me. I go out drinking maybe 2 times a month, max. But when I go drinking, I drink. I have my fathers drinking ability, and can out drink a lot of people. Barman have been impressed with how much I can drink without really showing it. i do sometimes wonder if this is a bad thing, but I don't care. I go out, have a great time, I don't hurt anyone, or myself, don't offend anyone, don't get into fights, don't knife people or shoot people (which is rare around here) and just generally have a good time.

*shrugs*

Oh, and I disagree about going out with the intention of throwing up afterwards, I just don't see the point in that kind of drinking. I drink to have a good time, not to get drunk. And I know I can have a good time without drinking, cause that has often happened. I drink because I want to, not because I feel I need to, or because I think I should..

*shrugs again*

I don't know why I just typed all that, best to just ignore me I think, now to save this post, I need to type something random...

No no no, you fat schmuck, I meant like when they begin drinking careers or whatever at age 14, 15. You really have to work on developing a taste for beer.

Who you calling schmuck, beachbum? Get off your arse, put the snow board down, and come over here and say that :P

I know many people who started their drinking careers at 14, in fact, I think it's probably the standard for many people...

I started drinking and smoking pot at age 13 (8th grade). I got meself addicted to pot. Then I got caught for smoking at the end of 8th grade. That bummed me out so much that I became an alcoholic in 9th grade. I am in 11th grade now, I no longer smoke any pot (It's for hippies), but I still struggle with an addiction to both substances. I don't drink more often than is generally accepted as "normal", but I get close sometimes. When I've felt really bad I sometimes acually shake from wanting booze. Those are the times that get really scary.

Well, that started as an explanation of when I started drinking and turned into a litany of all of my problems. almost. :P

I've never seen any illegal drugs, outside of the time we had "DARE" (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) in school. I've seen lots of beer, wine, and other alcoholic liquids that I don't know the name of, though.

DARE was just completely stupid. Of course, it was pretty fun to just notlisten to that police officer, who we were 80% sure was a pedophile. Ironically, even though he was teaching us not to drink or take any illegal drugs, he walked into class stoned. What an awful role model.

And he's still teaching the program, or so I hear.

Never done drugs and not going to either. The only alcohol I've had is small sips of wine and it's nasty.

People always go

"I had a sip of alcohol, and it's gross, so I'm not going to drink!", but with a bit of effort, you can have quite a good time when drinking

I don't really need alcohol to be a loud and raucous bastard, it just... enhances the raucousness.

I remember walking home with some friends, and we were passing the house of some girl who hated our guts for something [...] Ah, yes, it was our raucous behaviour she hated, and the fact that I called her an 'ugly flat-chested -----,' and when her boyfriend asked for an apology, he ended up trying to kill me with a garden hoe(no, not her). After a few weeks, her father asked for an apology. I knew he was Jewish, and I wanted to piss him off, so I said something along the lines of 'Cat got your yamaka?' and grabbed the yamaka off of his head and threw it in the street. He nearly got hit by traffic trying to retrieve it :P [...] So when we walked past her house, she happened to look out the window. I yelled 'S---, that better not be the Torah she's holding there, those things are half the size of a bible!'

And no, I am not biased toward people of Jewish heritage.

And for all those people who are going to say 'Bastard,' I eventually apologized to her, although indirectly. I still say she's ugly to her face, though.
