I didn't notice this 'till now, but the random quote thingy that used to be at the bottom of the screen is gone. Why did it go away? I loved that quote generator. It was always at least mildly interesting, it had a huge supply of quotes, and now, it's gone. I demand that it come back, it was so cool.

I think they must be having their fun, because I'm definately not dead, and they have had a long time to kill me in. If I'm still alive and kicking now, I think I'm probably safe from the quotes.

I'm posting this because I haven't made a post in a while because of massive school work.

Four on average. Now that golf is over I can start doing it before 7 p.m., so I hope to have more free time.

I'm supposed to have 34 hours of homework a week.

I've yet to spend more than 9 and I'm still passing all my classes, though I probably should bump it up another five since kanji takes time to learn.

If you really want some random quotes, I could make a Stuff of the Day post. On my LiveJournal, I post a quote and interesting fact every day and I could just copy and paste those into a topic here. Anyone interested in that?

Hehe. I have around 4 hours of homework, but on the other hand I don't have any schoolwork. Lucky me. :base:

I put in a solid three hours of studying into my classes per week (yes, you read that right), which also happens to be the most time I've ever devoted to studying during any period of my life up until this point. I, at this point halfway through the semester, have A's in all of my full courseload's worth of classes (including two courses that are generally held amongst the hardest sub-300 level courses at UNM), am working 25 hours per week, spending a few hours on the web per day, and am taking part in some sort of stress experiment in which I'm screwing up all the test figures due to my complete lack of stress under any circumstances. Additionally, I still get seven and a half hours of sleep per night (more on weekends) and have plenty of time for recreational reading and television watching. Life is all right.

Course, UNM isn't known for its decent academics.

I haven't had a nice brag in a while... (:P) I'll add that my lowest grade in my four classes (honors) is a 96.7.

I should mention that having a 92 pretty much counts as having a 100, they're worth the same.

Sure it is, we generally rank as slightly above decent ( :P ). We can't shake a stick at Yale or anything, but various departments (Nuclear Engineering, Anthropology, Medicine, Nursing, Law, E&PS, Navajo, Fine Arts, and a couple others) do well in the national rankings (really well in the cases of Medicine, Clinical Law, Anthropology, and Fine Arts, all top-15 (also Navajo, but there aren't fifteen schools in the world that teach Navajo, so that's kind of cheating)) and we are the 36th best public research university in the nation, which certainly isn't terrible.

Where the heck are you going to school? Sure, a 93 is about the same as a 97 most places, but the difference between a 100 and a 92 around here is the difference between maintaining a 4.2 and a 3.8 GPA.

Many schools don't give out A+s except on very special occasions, even if you get 100+% in a class.

I believe its 92% that distinguishes an "A" (value four) from an A- (value 3.66667).

And even if yours does - if you transfer to one that doesn't, they'll recalculate your GPA based on their standards: I've seen it happen to someone with nasty results.

The professors around here just make the courses hard enough to make it near impossible to get a 98 or higher and qualify for an A+, I've only pulled it off thrice, and in all three I had to be ranked first in the class to pull it off (I was ranked seventh out of roughly 400 in a Econ class last semester with a 97.99% and was the highest person in the class who didn't get an A+, on a related note UNM has a cool online statistics thing where you can check where your grade ranks in any given class where the prof happens to be computer literate enough to upload his grades).

I've never been anywhere where a 92 wasn't an A- and a 93 wasn't an A, but that doesn't mean that it can't happen (it's up to the individual professor down here, but the school reccomends a system).

I will, however, admit that the fractions of grades being equal to two tenths of a point in the GPA is a might strange. It is a quirk of my department, most other departments around campus use the standard thirds of a point.

As I understand it, the Yale system (after any curving) runs -

94+ = A
89-93 = A-
84-88 = B+
79-83 = B

There's no such thing as an A+ here. I have a friend whose end mark for a course was 93.5; he was given an A-.
