It's taken a little over two years, but I've finally done it. The big 2k. If you had told me back in July 2002 that only two years later I would have 2000 posts, I wouldn't have believed you for a second. I thought for sure that I would have at least 4,000 by now.
So here I am, only 2000 posts later.

My first *good* post, excluding sig:

I'm suing you for copying my 1000th post and just changing it to fit your 2000; And you had to one up the plaque I made for myself. Posted Image

Well, I finally reached 1000 posts. If you had told me when I joined back in January 2003 (my only goal was to learn how to use the NoShipsLeft flag in Hera) I would have 1000 posts ever, let alone in a year and a half, I would not have believed you for a second.
But here I am, 1000 posts later.

Which is just terrifying. I'm sure that within the first couple of months at least a few of us will have to explain to some upstart, spam-happy newbie that, even though he spammed his post count up to a few hundred, those of us with but 70 posts are correct in telling him, from experience, to calm down and follow the board guidelines. I can just tell that this fellow will bitch at me about how he clearly knows much more than I do about the boards simply because of his superior post count and I dread having to take part in that conversation.

Yeah, but if this hypothetical newb ends up reforming and becoming an upstanding member of the community, I'd end up missing all of his wonderfully informative and thought-provoking posts and, thus, would never know what the hell was going on.

IMHO, only weenies begging for attention annouce their post milestones (with the exception of 10,000, which only a small handful of people have reached). I did announce my anniversary, but that only turned into an LK vs. The People debate...

In my defense, the purpose of this topic was not to flaunt my minor accomplishment to a community that hardly knows me... But rather to spite Trah by making his minor accomplishment seem insignificant in comparison. Posted Image

(sorry Trah)

In my humble opinion, people who announce their webboard anniversaries are even bigger jerks than those who announce their post milestones. No work is required in existing for a given period of time, (unless you're fighting cancer or something, in which case posting an anniversary topic does not make you a jackass) whereas reaching a "significant" number of posts actually requires that you do something, and is thus more commendable than doing nothing at all.

Also, I am definitely not a "weenie".

[edit]excessive (more than one) smilies.
