Last night I played D&D for the firstt time. I think this solidifies me as a true nerd. I mean if you are in your basement for nearly 24 hours with 6 guys does that make you really really cool? I sure hope so. I'm cool anyway. :-D Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else here plays and if so: What is your favorite character?

Currently, I am on two campaigns. In the first I am a Half-Elf Druid named Delam'El.
Posted Image (That picture is insanly close to my character.) And in the second I am a Halfing Cleric.

Nerds rule!

I date Dungeon Masters! :P

I've never played actual DnD, but I play a lot of games that use the AD&D rules. In such games, I almost always play a dark elf thief/assassin/scout.

Heh heh, the first time I played DnD I found ways to piss of the dungeon master, such as cooking, breaking down doors, stealing, forcing people to steal, killing people in my party, being a badass, trying to make butter, playing out of character, searching for nazi gold, ect ect. Yeah, great game espeically if your a badass.

In other words, Gandalf Daddy, you got your kicks by ruining the fun of others.

I was into D&D once... about a decade ago now, actually. Good times. I stopped playing when I was 12-13, though. Moved on to other stuff.

I played Magic: The Gathering for a while there and really had a few killer decks even though I've not played a game for around four years now. No Dungeons and Dragons though.

I have played some D&D (a little, in fact, with GD-he was actually pretty fun, not nearly as bad as he sounds) as an Air Genasai fighter. I have also played a few computer games that use AD&D (Baldur's Gate) or BD&B (Neverwinter Nights) as almost every character class offered.

Speaking of GD's D&D experiences, the time when he tried to make butter was quite enjoyable-he hooked a cow up to a pully rig type thing and made it churn for him.

Well, it definatly was an interesting game. There were six guys (one of which was an old major crush of mine, another of which is a current semi-crush, plus my brother) and me. It was awesome. For all of those who havn't played: you should. Try something new!! Com'on guys!

I would play, if I could find someone to DM. The only people I know who play are elitist bastards who think they're 'too good' to play with me. But one of Carla's friends from high school who is going to the same college as us may DM a game for us next semester... Yes.

DMing seems like it would be hard. Luckly I have serveral friends who are capible of it. And even luckier, one is my brother so he can help me along when I need help. It also helps during the game because he tends to favor me. :P Divals, I suggest that if you can't find someone to DM for you that you that you look up on/into it and try to become a DM yourself and host games. Then, those who play with you would soon be good enough to be DMs themselves. I'll probably DMing a game in a few months... But I need to take a while to get better.

There is one guy in my game that gets pissed off at anything. We were trapped in a dungeon and he got mad and started yelling. It was funny.

Next time you're thinking of pissing off a DM you think's being supercilious, perhaps you should remember that this guy's put in hours of work to make your game happen, and is still putting in the most work of anyone at the table. It's easy to be a jackass when you've got nothing on the line.

Funny though, cause he wasn't really taking it seriously either. You were a pissed off DM once weren't you? Infact the DM is always pissed off. Besides you'd get bored to if you spent a hour and a half eating breakfest.

I dabbled in Baldur's Gate for a while. It uses the same rule book as D&D, but I forgot what version. I dont have the patience to play on a table, so I play it on the computer. HA.

I think Baldur's Gate uses AD&D

Yeah, some things are slightly modified - like the "to hit" and armor rolls and such.

I have one question about this mythical game, how long does it take to play one game?

Depends, usually upwards of hours. Oftentimes more. (competitions and conventions run some 4-hour ones, I don't see how those work out though)

I've spent an all-nighter (15+ hours) with a group of people in one campaign, and that was just getting started. The problem I seem to have is retaining a group; someone always has something going on so they aren't able to make a session, and it becomes tiresome to explain why their character mysteriously vanishes or is otherwise unable to participate, so we've had to give up for now and resort to D&D miniatures until there's a more regularized attendance.

Its up to the DM. Generally, whenever I play, we play from about 7pm to 5 am. Or at least last time I played. And we're only on Level 2 out of about 20.

Not at all. Warcraft is an RTS, D&D is an RPG.
