I used a modest 1 mile diameter, 1750kg/m^3, 60km/s, 45° angle and porous rock for the ground.

No fireballs, a brief 8.8 earthquake and an air blast of a whopping 27.1mph. Although there is now a 25 mile wide crater where Las Vegas used to be...

I used a less than modest 10 mile diameter asteroid with a density of 8000 kg/m^3 hitting at 60 km/s at 50 degrees into porous ground. I'm 500 miles away.

It wouldn't change the earth's rotation period or anything, but it would create a crater 350 miles across and would release 3.14 x 10^25 joules of energy.

I would see the fireball 10.5 seconds after impact. The fireball would be 360 miles in radius and would appear 163.8 times larger than the sun, and I would be irradiated for 820 seconds, causing my clothing and any newspaper, grass, plywood, and deciduous trees to ignite; additionally, I would suffer 3rd degree burns on much of my body.

The ground would begin shaking at 161 seconds with a Richter magnitude of 11.2, greater than any earthquake in recorded history.

After 436 seconds, the ejecta would arrive and I would be covered to a depth of 359 feet.

At 2683 seconds, the air blast would arrive at a speed of 2302 mph and with a dangerously loud sound intensity, 126 dB.

Well, Las Vegas was blown up by a meteorite that was four miles in diameter. The meteorite was composed of porous rock (1500 kg/m^3), struck Vegas with a velocity of 32 km/s, and, oddly enough, dropped strait down on Vegas. (I'm assuming that Vegas is dense rock, I don't know)

If I were to stand outside for eleven minutes and eleven seconds after the blast, then I might suffer a mild head injury from the 1.5 cm ejecta falling on me.

If I stood outside for a further 80 minutes, I might die from 30 percent of the trees falling on me, or from the glass in windows shattering on me. Fortunately, I wouldn't notice the trees and glass because I'm being hit by a 122 mph wind at the same time. So I'd probably be fine in my basement with my computer.

Vegas would have been replaced with a fifty mile wide crater.

How close is Reno? 445 miles.

So µ would die from the 338.5 mph wind, or if she survived, she'd suffer second degree burns. Sorry µ, looks like it is some kind of hint; Sargatanus hates you.

He's really a six-eyed Haruspex demon on a flagship somewhere in really serious need of some clear-eye. Didn't you know?

Yeah. Like I said, sorry. Back in that time, I was a very heavy drinker. In this life, of course, I have discovered the alternative: AzzyArt® Posted Image
