Also about miltiary services, a bloated military is better then a depreived one? No way, no one in the world would attack us, it would be ****in' sucide. The only people that might attack us would be nuts who think they are worshipping god by killing innocents.
Educational spending? Bush has done a fairly horrible job on that, though it is hard. Some of his policies, such as the no child left behind makes it extremely difficult for the teachers to accuatly leave no child behind. Spend less on going to Iraq and more into education.

The most notable exception, of course, being the rebellion that founded our nation. Me and my one (and by "one" I mean seven) guns won't be able to do anything of significance, but a lot of armed people united in a group can certainly make a difference. This was exactly what the founding fathers had in mind when giving us the right to keep and bear arms.
-Pufer
The French were instrumental in that victory. It is different now anyway. Does the general populace have the capability to destroy tanks and aircraft? There is no way a violent rebellion would succeed in the U.S., unless parts of the military were rebelling as well. Some civilian guns would have no chance against air-strikes, tanks, and well armed infantry. I would bet if every non-military citizen got a gun and rebelled, the army would easily crush the rebellion.

But we would've at least tried.
Looking at relatively recent history we can see clear lessons speaking out against gun control. Prior to WWII Hitler specifically targeted the Jewish population of Germany when he set out to enforce his firearms ban for a simple reason, he wanted them to be completely defenseless against his attacks on their freedoms. They didn't have the chance to fight back against the oppressive forces of government because they, along with a vast majority of the population, had gone along blindly in support of the "new, safer world of tomorrow" promised by Hitler's anti-gun propaganda. On the other side of the token, Britain had already begun banning firearms in a movement of anti-gun furvor after WWI. Little did they know that the threat of imminant invasion by a more powerful force was right around the corner. The lack of firearms ("We have to reduce military guns because what would happen if they ended up in private hands?") in Britain extended into the military to such an extent that the British government began to send pleas to ordinary American citizens to donate their personal firearms in order to save Britain. We responded in massive style, but I seriously doubt that any of you reading this heard about this event in school or from the media.
What can we learn from these examples? I think that we can clearly see that just because there doesn't happen to be a threat right this instant it doesn't mean that there won't be one ten or twenty years down the road. Some have spoken at length in this topic about the short-sightedness of the current economic policy, but can you not see the same quality in assuming that our military will always be this strong? That our governmental system will always be this stable, or that the rest of the world will always be so inferior to our might? Of course you can, and you can clearly see why we need to maintain an armed population in the event that we will need a citizen militia to rise up against almost certain demise at the hands of a despotic regime marching us off to death camps or a new world power intent on smashing the remains of the last. This is not piddley crap we're talking about here, this is our life as a nation based in the pure principle of liberty on which we were founded. This is survival.

Just found this out. Bush has raised approx. $104 Million for his campaign, and still has approx $103 Million on hand. Kerry raised $33 Million for his campaign, spent most on defeating his competitors, and now has about $3 Million left, as well as his $7 million debt. From this, who seems better in the financial department? BUSH!
Money doesn't win elections. It helps, but it won't win it. I hope you aren't trying to imply that because large corporations gave him money, he is somehow better at economic policy.

Sure it does. Money=spin in the political world and enough good spin=victory. It doesn't matter what you've done up to this point, what your political alliances are, or if those are your actual beliefs that you are spewing, so long as you can appeal to the generally underinformed masses with a larger wall of well spun information than your opponent, you will get a win. If you don't have the money to play, then you can't get your nicely worded message out. This can be seen rather easily in the case of Ralph Nader. Now there really is no reason why Ralph Nader shouldn't be a viable candidate for the Presidency (he's every bit as qualified as Bush or Kerry) other than the fact that he has no money (or support of a major party, but we all know that major party affiliation is just a way to fill your coffers come election time). If Kerry wants to beat Bush when competing with Nader in the money column, he's not going to make it. Yes, it is rather sad that our political system has degraded to such a point, but that doesn't change the way it is. Shinobi actually has succeded in making a point here (*gasp* ), nobody wants to play for a losing team.

Yes, I agree money helps a lot, but If someone gave me 1 billion, I wouldn't win the election. If someone is either very good or very bad money will not be as important.

Which isn't the case in the upcoming election (to preempt your counter argument, if Bush is such a bad administrator, why are his approval ratings so high?), money will be a factor.
-Pufer
Actually, his approval ratings have been dropping as of late. It has been bad for him recently because of a not so great state of the union, and the free media the Democrats got from the primaries.
These numbers are a couple weeks old, but you can see a definite downward trend.

That is another reason I am against Bush. He has already taken away freedoms and given the government more power. Also, he openly states he wants to make second class citizens out of homosexuals. That is one giant step backward.

Don't.
As for appearances, do they have any role in political elections? I mean, do you think people vote for someone because the other guy looks like a freak of nature? This time around they'd have to choose between someone who looks like a monkey (Bush) and someone who looks like when they bend over their hair is going to spring out and gobble people up (Kerry).

I usually start one hear every few months. I started one last on July 4. This is really the perfect board to have them on, no one is going to go nuts and write 10000 word replies, or throw billion of links at you. Also, the tone is a lot nicer then the other place.

It is creepy that anyone would believe that. It is very hard to turn the United States into Oceania in just four years. Why don't we all just face the fact that gun control will never be passed. Sorry for bringing this one up, especially after it was specifically designated to be left alone.
Also, sorry Pufer. I kinda get carried away when it comes to politics (for some reason every decision I make always seems to involve me as the person at the extreme end of whatever side I'm on, in this case, Left wing, bleeding heart, tree hugging liberal).
