CheesEv hasn't responded concerning the Gunship, so someone else should handle negotiations on it. All 500K cr we need to purchase it are in the Gov fund, so it's just an issue of balancing the ship.

I'll try to make money, I guess. See if I can make that attack corvette (or gunships, if they come out before I have the money for a 'vette).

If I don't give any money to colony ships and such, and keep getting lucky with bulk missions and no pirates, I can have a shiny new attack corvette in Tangier in three days...
Man, you said that a week ago. You're lucky you haven't been pirated yet. I suggest you buy yourself that attack corvette asap. Bad form to sit around with a heap of cash in a lousy ship.
Completely unrelated: after tomorrow, my last day of midterms, I'll have those planet descriptions finished and I'll post them here for comments/revisions.

I was thinking. There's all these 1 and 2 ton missions. If one were to hire a traveller, then have four of these missions at all times (your mission limit is 5 missions), you would probably make a decent amount of extra cash off it. I don't have any runabouts at the moment due to the lack of bulk missions, so I'm giving the traveller and low cargo missions a whirl.

Right now, all cash is being diverted to DF#2. We should be able to afford several cruisers by the end of the week.

Oh, one more thing, I'm going to speak up for Patrick and ask that you give him the fleet names and passwords. After all, he is our president. He was reluctant to ask, but I figure he deserves as much.
The main reason I'm withholding them is on the basis of separation of powers. I don't think it's appropriate for him to be controlling fleets directly - and I don't think it's appropriate for me to either.
I don't log in to manage fleets; I simply send off the cash and trust that it will be used appropriately. As soon as passwords can be changed, I'd suggest that the the commanders switch them, so I can't order them around.

a heavy cruiser(use graphics for Orion Gunship from EVGE)
There are plenty of plugs out there that have free graphics(true they dont all fit ares theme but…)
Maybe buy a few of those colony ships in preparation so you can send them out in bulk. They have already proven they can defend themselfs well enough till you send them out.
Carriers are out! Pocket Battleships are in! A small but mobile ship with the weaponry of a full fledged battleship.
A reminder to those who dont know: It has been found that laser cannons do more damage than proton for a set ammount of time(due to faster reload).
if i could get an email with step by step instructions on how to start off, that would be great. I could even just be a worthless guy that sends all the money he can possibly afford to the UNSET. Well, there's my 2 credits. i wont be home untill late tomarrow(today?) night.

Oops, just asked you about that on the aresaxis forums, please disregard
Alright, planet descriptions are finished. Please tell me what you think, if revisions are necessary, etc. Note that Danath's name will be changed when we finish voting.
Planet Descriptions:
TRALF: Located deep within LN space, Tralf is a fast developing world that serves as the capitol for for the UNSET Alliance. The planet's rich natural resources have led to agressive expansion and robust trade with nearby systems.
DANATH: The second world to be colonised by the UNSET Alliance, Danath is mostly covered by scorching deserts and rocky sands. Briliant engineers from Tralf have designed advanced underground arcologies that use solar power generated on the surface and water flowing in deep underground streams to populate this world.

We were going to purchase a Gunship, based on the UNS Gunship from Ares. I suppose a HVCruiser would probably lie in the 0.8-1M range on cost, but it doesn't seem like there's need for another ship in there.

Well, our equivalent of a pocket battleship would be a Heavy Destroyer (HVD). They skimp on shielding, but they're decently fast/maneuverable, and they do *massive* amounts of damage.
I always knew that we should have lasers on the Fighters.

Hmmm, well, if you go to http://www.stonefire.net , then there's a little box where you can fill out all your information. You might want to do that as soon as possible - registrations can be delayed a few days.

Apparently the NA is taking Apoc and Osculiath. Are you going to try and negotiate with them? That's right in the region of space you were interested in.
Graves was initially going to take both of the remaining planets in the "FLO" triangle as you call it. He decided to take only Osculiath in an effort to stay on good terms with Limax.
Just so you know

I've been through the list since then, something may have gone wrong with the signup. How about you send an email with name/password/email/gov info to cheesev@stonefire.net and I'll sign you up.
