Well, the Ambrosia alliance isn't working out, so we've reinstated the Ares alliance. Post if you want to join. I have some stuff written about it, which I've posted below:

Pyro's Intro:

Me and Mag being bored on GR last night, we decided to reinstate the old ares alliance. The ares alliance worked very well until those EV heads came along, so now we're bringing it back. Our ares community obviously has a more friendly bond and will not backstab each other (at least I hope not), so I suppose that this alliance will work out quite well. Below is something that Mag wrote to me in an email and i think it works quite well. If you want to join, simply put youre name and coords below and NOTHING ELSE. We will continue to use the Planetarion thread for communication.


Reinstation of the ARES alliance. 12/13/00, 10:27 PM, EST


Rules and stuff:

Anybody can join that somebody currently in the alliance says can join.**

Anybody can leave at any time.

Anybody can choose not to help anybody else at any time.*

Anybody can help anybody else at any time.

No whining.

No cheating.

No attacking other members of the alliance before getting them kicked out or leaving yourself.

Anything else other people that I deem have authority say.

Kicking People Out:

Honor:

Be honourable in your stuff. Or don't be, it's up to you. I guess it's all a situation by situation basis, so just know that, when the other people of the alliance get pissed at you, you now have less honor.*


Advice:

Advice will be given to other members of the alliance when asked for and the person giving the advice gives the advice.*


Defense vs Offense:

When somebody is attacked, remember: Defence is the most important thing. If we die, we die, and dying probably isn't too fun in this, 'cause then we'd have to restart, and we'd be little band of wussy losers (right now we're a little band of semi-wussy to very much dead losers). One or two people should attack the attackers, "while their pants are down", you could say.

This alliance is supposed to be mostly offensive, though, so don't worry about attacking people. We just need to stick together in defense.


Communication:

Gameranger, Ares Trash Talk, and messages in Planetarion. I think Ares Trash Talk would be most important and most useful, though.


Other Stuff:

Will be thought up by alliance members and voted on. 50% of votes must be yes for them to work, and all people must vote. This stuff right here may only be changed with 75% of the votes and all people must vote, then debate, then vote again, then debate, then vote a third time. Only one voting period on this is allowed each day.

OK, now.... I'm assuming that when I click on the "Allies" tab, it will do something — however, right now, that tab doesn't even give a link. What does the Allies tab do, when will I be able to use it, and what special stuff does an Alliance entail (in brief)? Thanks in advance.

As for the allies tab: The allies tab shows up green when other players' fleets are on their way to defend you, or if there is a fleet not owned by you that is defending you at the moment.

As far as what alliances do: Well, what do alliances do in the RealWorld™?

Don't live without it.

Alliances are basically a bunch of people agreeing to defend each other from attack. It's kinda to do that though, since sometimes people get the news to rush to defend a bit late. Alliances also offer offensive strengh, and calling retaliatory strikes against offending planets as well as organized asteroid raids can be quite useful.

In the RealWorld™ usually people can get to each others defense much faster.
