So, everyday I find myself sitting here at work bored out of my mind. A girl can only play Solitaire so many times before she wants to shoot someone.

I work in the Computer Science office doing clerical work at my University.

Any ideas on how to entertain myself?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Well...

You could read through the entire Sluggy Comic Archives. It might take a few months. Heck, any webcomic would be good, I just don't know of any others.

Come to think of it, I'm bored out of my mind as well, and thusly am out of suggestions.

Actually, a book might be a good idea.

Get addicted to Tetris. I lost a couple years of my life, thanks to that game.

Could you install it on a USB drive and play it off of that?

Oh my geez. Tetris is the game of the Gods!!!

A few years ago, I played it so much I would close my eyes and dream Tetris at night. I got very little sleep...but a great idea.

Read Dilbert.

Sadly I can relate. I decided to stop after I realized I would stop paying attention to people talking to me to start playing tetris mentally. I've now been clean of that game for 2 weeks now.

Oh, and my record is 363 lines. I was #32 in the world at one point (on the 24 hour Quinn records).

i often get lost in Wikipedia, start off by looking at a page of something, anything at all, and only allow yourself to be navigated through links in whatever it is you're looking at. It's amazing how far away from your original entry you can find yourself, sometimes hours later :P

After you're finished, you'll know lots more, and knowing is half the battle!

rotten.com/library

It's like Wikipedia, but only for bizarre and grotesque things. Particularly useful if your interests include government conspiracies or sexual deviancy (and I happen to know that yours do).

They have a name for that... the Tetris effect, in fact! :P

I've experienced it in various times in my life because of everything from playing laser tag to videography to studying logarithms.

Well, there's tons of little flash and shockwave games out there. Addictinggames.com has a bunch.

You could also install some old RPG on your computer. Anything from Ultima to Baldur's Gate. They're not resource hogs, you can minimize them in a hurry if someone comes around, and they're fun and last a long time. If you're into RPGs that is.

I would also like to support Lek and Pufer's suggestions.

Sluggy archives will take years, but get started and you really won't regret it.

Oh hey! That reminds me that there's a new LFG comic I haven't read. Thanks! :P

Read xkcd.

You should write to Rainn Wilson and try and convince him to keep you company. That'd be insane...
