Okay, so I've been picking up random soups at the grocery store recently, so that when I decide I want soup I get the surprise of trying something new and eventually I'll have a lot more choices of what to have when I figure out what ones are best.

So, what kind of soup do you like?

I enjoy a good chicken soup, with some kind of pasta and some filler/flavor veggies like garlic and scallions. I generally avoid cooked carrots and peas and stuff like that in my chicken soups.

I also LOVE pea soup. 'nuf said.

I like minestrone. I have a good recipe to use for a fairly basic one, but a nice one at an italian restaurant is good too.

Hot and sour soup is good.

Egg drop soup is not as much of a favorite as sweet and sour, but I like it fine.

I do like miso soup. Nice and simple, good to start off a japanese meal.

That's for the homemade soups. But since it's good to be lazy sometimes and just microwave something quick, I've been collecting various types of canned soup as I said before. Here's some of the good ones I've tried recently.

Campbell's Select Minestrone was better than I expected it to be. All the ingredients are there and it's got plenty of them. I've already made sure I always keep a couple in my cupboard.

Campbell's Select Italian Sausage with Pasta and Pepperoni is a definite keeper. It's got a definitely spice to it, but not overwhelming. Tomato based. It has mushrooms in it too and some various other things I didn't bother to really try to identify. Probably just some typical filler veggies, I was just enjoying it all too much to really care.

And of course I have the usual staples like chicken noodle, etc.

I'll keep you updated as I try some more. I've only just begun!

I pretty much enjoy any kind of soup. Egg drop is lovely, but I also love Italian soups.

And Miso is amazing..

Yeah, miso is like the underdog of soups. When you first look at it, you're like "this is soup?", but then you try it and you love it.

I have to admit, I'm not much of a soup girl. But, miso rocks my world. I also like Clam Chowder (especially in a bread bowl...Hello Fisherman's Wharf), if you can call that a soup.
Can you imagine if I was deranged?

Sure, I think we can include chowders and stews.

Ok, good. Because its all about the chowder, man. Lentil soup is good, too now that I think about it.

Okay, Campbell's Select Chicken with Egg Noodles, it's okay, but has two things that I don't think should be in a soup. Carrots and celery. I like both vegetables, raw. This soup would've been better without the carrots or celery. I think I'll pass on it in the future.

Campbell's Select Savory Chicken and Long Grain Rice. That actually sounds like cat food, but it's a soup too. It, too, has carrots and celery. It was decent, but I think I'll go for something else instead.

I had a Progresso soup once that was spiced dumpling and chicken soup. It sounds weird but it was the best soup I've ever had.

A chinese "bistro" (P.F. Chang's) here sells hot & sour soup, that's also delicious.

I'm a big fan of onion soup. Very simple, filling enough.

Beef stew is also a favorite but that takes several hours to make.

Any other soup meals occur after the devouring of a turkey; all the bits of leftover meat are used and things go from there.

I don't suppose Pho is included in this, because I'm a huge fan of that stuff.

According to wikipedia, Pho is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup dish. I think that counts.

I totally forgot about clam chowder in a bread bowl! Oh my gosh!

Not to mention corn chowder, chili, french onion soup, and pea soup. YUM.

I can't handle hot and sour. It's like.."WHOA too spicy!" and then that passes and you're like, "OH GOD! Too sour!"

I just had some more of that minestrone. I have another can left in my cupboard, and I would so like to consume it right now because the other one was so good, but I've got to save it for tomorrow.

Also, I have declared it the week of soups.

Campbell's Chicken Noodle is mostly noodle, not so much chicken. But I've had to go into my back-up stores today since I'm running out of soup on-hand. The Campbell's Select line is definitely a better quality soup, and I'll be picking up some more kinds later today. I'll let you know how it works out.

Oh, I remembered another soup I've had once that was incredibly good. It was made with strawberries, cream, probably sugar and water, and of course served chilled.

Pho <3
I just discovered the stuff this summer. Yummy.

Other than that, I really like simple tomato soup, and on hot summer days like this its cold variant: Gazpacho.

On the chicken broth side of things, chicken noodle is of course excellent. I don't really like the canned chicken noodle, but my mum occasionally makes it from scratch, which is always an exciting time. :P I remember liking chicken rice back in the day, but I haven't had it in ages. Finally, most of you gentiles out there probably haven't had the chance to try Matzo Ball soup, but it is delicious when well-made.

Ever had campbell's old fashioned tomato with rice? Put a bit of your favorite hot sauce in (green tobasco works well) and it's perfect.

Yeah, should have included Pho on my list as well. Chicken noodle is a bane to my existence.

Goulash is like no kind of soup I've ever known. There are goulashes that might fall under the category of stews, but this is not the week of stews!
