So, what kind of soup do you like?
I enjoy a good chicken soup, with some kind of pasta and some filler/flavor veggies like garlic and scallions. I generally avoid cooked carrots and peas and stuff like that in my chicken soups.
I also LOVE pea soup. 'nuf said.
I like minestrone. I have a good recipe to use for a fairly basic one, but a nice one at an italian restaurant is good too.
Hot and sour soup is good.
Egg drop soup is not as much of a favorite as sweet and sour, but I like it fine.
I do like miso soup. Nice and simple, good to start off a japanese meal.
That's for the homemade soups. But since it's good to be lazy sometimes and just microwave something quick, I've been collecting various types of canned soup as I said before. Here's some of the good ones I've tried recently.
Campbell's Select Minestrone was better than I expected it to be. All the ingredients are there and it's got plenty of them. I've already made sure I always keep a couple in my cupboard.
Campbell's Select Italian Sausage with Pasta and Pepperoni is a definite keeper. It's got a definitely spice to it, but not overwhelming. Tomato based. It has mushrooms in it too and some various other things I didn't bother to really try to identify. Probably just some typical filler veggies, I was just enjoying it all too much to really care.
And of course I have the usual staples like chicken noodle, etc.
I'll keep you updated as I try some more. I've only just begun!

Campbell's Select Savory Chicken and Long Grain Rice. That actually sounds like cat food, but it's a soup too. It, too, has carrots and celery. It was decent, but I think I'll go for something else instead.

A chinese "bistro" (P.F. Chang's) here sells hot & sour soup, that's also delicious.

Beef stew is also a favorite but that takes several hours to make.
Any other soup meals occur after the devouring of a turkey; all the bits of leftover meat are used and things go from there.
I don't suppose Pho is included in this, because I'm a huge fan of that stuff.

According to wikipedia, Pho is a traditional Vietnamese noodle soup dish. I think that counts.

Oh, I remembered another soup I've had once that was incredibly good. It was made with strawberries, cream, probably sugar and water, and of course served chilled.

Pho <3
I just discovered the stuff this summer. Yummy.
Other than that, I really like simple tomato soup, and on hot summer days like this its cold variant: Gazpacho.
On the chicken broth side of things, chicken noodle is of course excellent. I don't really like the canned chicken noodle, but my mum occasionally makes it from scratch, which is always an exciting time. I remember liking chicken rice back in the day, but I haven't had it in ages. Finally, most of you gentiles out there probably haven't had the chance to try Matzo Ball soup, but it is delicious when well-made.
