The question of the "popularity" and "significant historical impact" of the aforementioned bands has arisen, and I need a random sample of people that probably don't represent the country to voice their input.

Taz is not included, because he obviously is a major influence, appearing on virtually every other poll for the last 18 months. No interesting debate there.

Heard of both; only ever listend to Weezer and then only a tiny bit.

6-2 on both. Weird.

Yeah, I watched the voting happen as the link was posted on #ev3. People seem to either know both, or know neither.

In thirty minutes? Hardly, let it run for a couple of days so the people not awake at 3:30 AM have a chance to vote.

Heard of both of them. I enjoy a few songs from Weezer, and I think the sound of Tool is amazing. I have the album "Lateralus" on my computer, and there is another one just coming out or just came out, I think. Tool is not on iTunes.

I have all Tool albums, but I think I like 10,000 Days most. I've never heard of Weezer.

10,000 Days? More like 10,000 Bass Drums, am I right?

Still win! :P

I think my point has been proven, and even if you want to wait a couple more days, I don't foresee the results changing drastically in that period.

Then my follow up question to the people who don't know either: what genre of music do you typically listen to?

It's 19/7 for both…

As for myself, I haven't heard of either. I listen to jazz and classical, mostly.

I used to like some Weezer hits- Beverly Hills, Hash Pipe, Holiday (Island in the Sun?). I would think Weezer is more popular/well known than Tool, but who knows.

Some of Tool's conceptual-instrumental stuff is pretty sharp, but I generally dislike the rock that they're known for. Weezer has high and low points. Their first couple albums were pretty good and there are a few tracks on their subsequent albums that have been all right, but no great shakes.

Looking up a few of my favorite acts on the iTunes store (about all that it's good for), I see that I generally lean towards Alternative Indie Folk, for whatever that's worth. I generally prefer to just say that I listen to what I like and leave it at that without picking genres.

Ænima was the best TOOL album, unless you happen to have an in depth understanding of solomonic architecture, in which case Lateralus is far more compelling.

The new album... well, it didn't quote live up to par.

You know, I used to be a froth-at-the-mouth anti-rap sadist from hell.

Then I realized most of Linkin Park was rap, and I felt foolish. Linkin Park is one of my favorite bands.

Mmm... one step closer, cure for the itch, numb...
