I mean, seriously. Why do they call it "string cheese" if it has no strings in it?
(Sometimes it also has no cheese in it, but that's a completely different topic)

According to the highly controversial and divisive String Theory, you're supposed to tear it into strings yourself.

I thought String Theory would be used to show that string cheese indeed has strings, if only on the sub-atomic level.

You only think there must be strings because the conventions of society as defined by the establishment has lead you to believe that names must be in some way representative of their objects. In all actuallity "string" cheese has nothing to do with strings nor is even in some manner a different form or variety of cheese. They should just be called cheese things just like all other so-called types of cheese.

I like being cynical.

EDIT: I keep typing "liek" and posting, usually milliseconds before I realize I misspelled "like".

I bet it was originally marketed as "Stringy Cheese," because while it lacks strings, it is in fact stringy. Then marketers decided the "y" was unnecessary and changed the name. The real lesson of the story is that marketers are evil and deserve to be mauled by pandas.

Pandas are awesome! I agree, marketers do need that to happen. Or drop bears work...

It probably used to be string cheese.

Suddenly I'm reminded of the ending of a movie...

I have a shirt that says "Defy everything that gets in your way" It lies. Even if i defy the wall's existence, it still prevents me from walking through it.

No, you will just find a line drive down right field... at least, I think it was right field.

It stands until somebody comes up with decisive proof.

Ah, theoretical physics. Things don't have to make sense to a layperson in reality – why require it of theories?

The quantum (or Heisenberg?) uncertainty principle is actually quite straightforward. As you use higher and higher frequencies of waves to scan smaller and smaller masses, you throw more and more energy in those waves, knocking those masses harder and harder... so by knowing their positions you push things out of these positions.

That should be it won't stand until they come up with some decisive proof in its favour.

In any case, nice new book which seems to agree with my bullcrap assessment.

This place is holding the world together. The Windows support boards are what pull it apart...

... and are they ever going to be busy next year or so.
