Actually, I do that on other board pretty frequently, but since I'm used to the old layout I never got in the habit here. The other way's more reliable though.

I must admit, though, some of them are pretty distinctive, so I can see why you might do that.

Then again, the avatars here are so big and fluffy its easy to get confused really easily. Its not like they're not noticable, unless you disable them, and they completely outdwarf the names in visual appealingness.

I don't even think of you as "Zortrium" anymore, I can tell its you by that panda.

Eh, my IM avatar is more distinctive.

But back on topic: I wanted to try that experiment on myself but I didn't have enough of the plasticy stuff. Think of any alternative materials I could use?

I don't have a problem dual breathing without any extra plastics.

What's wrong with partitioning? It used to work when OS X first came out, dual booting with one hard drive into classic and X.

This topic makes no sense, but hey whatever.

I agree, I don't go by names, I go by avatars. I do a double-take whenever someone changes avatar, or changes to one similar to another member.

Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer to go by name. At least for those whose names predate the avatars... a dying breed, nearly.

Well, fortunately, for those that go by avatars, most members don't change theirs very often.

Only if you associate people with their avatar. Back in the good old days that wasn't an issue, but sometimes people get lazy. Probably because a picture is worth a thousand words.

It isn't confusion, really. The train of thought is as follows: register avatar, mentally link to poster, read post think hey...... this doesn't sound like them, check name, realize person changed avatar, re-register avatar with that person And if multiple people have the same avatar....... well then I got by sig length and structure.
