No, they feel much more pain. They say it's like having a catheter inserted every day.

Hmm.

Isn't it more painful to have to watch XP boot on the underpowered 128-megs-of-RAM boxes at school? And listen to that annoying login sound?

No, and I'll agree with you on the login sound being annoying.

I've suffered through two bouts of kidney stones, beats the hell out of a wimply little catheter.

What really starts to hurt is the way it goes Bing! evertime you open a submenu. Late at night that begins to get personal.
And i hate that blobby blue and green look.
Fortunatly all of these things can be changed.

Actually, I made NT run silent two ways:
{
1. I went into the sound control panel and deselected all the sounds.
2. I went into c:\winnt\somethingoranother and wiped out all the sound files.
or
1. Since this is NT 4 we're talking about, it didn't install drivers for my EISA soundblaster card. Leave it that way.
or
1. Keep the speakers turned off until all is said and done.
}

and

Go into c:\winnt and delete welcome.exe so it doesn't give you that annoying welcome program.

The absolute worst is the tow sony vaio's i have. one will open scheduled tasks when it turns on. (and is all ready loading a million things with less than 100mb of ram). THe other runs this bloody add for itself whenever it is turned on.
"Vaio Tour" absolute pain in the ass.
THe computer I'm using now has a broken mouse... I've swapped the left-click right-click functions.

I am so pissed at Win XP and people who shut off computers that have Win XP installed... I was in my school library, and I noticed a free computer. It just had to be off. It took about twenty minutes to turn it on and log in. I mean, couldn't they at least do something about the ######ing blue screen? It sat there for the whole time... Doing absolutely nothing. At least Mac has those tiny spinning load buttons...

Get a cheap used iBook.

Wait. Bad idea. You don't get AppleCare with them.

AppleCare is pretty much a necessity with iBooks. They tend to have hardware failures of the display/HD kind frequently. :P

My school won't let me bring in my iBook, because I'm only a freshman. Oddly, my iBook has never screwed itself up...
