Me, mostly punk, hardcore (###### the emo metalcore crap that people like Shinobi listen to), ska, etc. I'm into a band called the Long Winters, too. They're way off in terms of my musical taste, but they songwritingn is great, so I listen to them anyways

You guys?

I generally like the bouncy pop rock, that most people look down their noses at. Like Blink and the Ataris and Jimmy Eat World. It's a bit more musical to me.

Generally though I branch out, I tend to hear soundtracks on movies and enjoy songs. I got into P.O.D like that, and I also seem to be slipping into DJ Shadow, that kind of thing.

I went through a big phase of trying to be all deep and s###, listening to Pink Floyd and The Doors and stuff like that. But I decided that deep wasn;t for me, there's no point if you don't enjoy the music so much. So I switched back to meaningless-but-fun.

Edit:But! I am going to Glastonbury. So check all these bands that are playing here! And actually do check it out, there are some really good bands for everyone. There's a noise curfew after 12am, so they're having a silent disco! Amazing, eh?

recently I've delved into the weird mix of classical music and rock that is "post rock" and I like it. A lot. Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor are bands worth checking out.

For me mainly Metal, Prog Rock, and Blues/Blues based Rock things like Dream Theater, Tool, and Iron Maiden. I never really got into Punk at all except for The Clash.

Besides those I mentioned, my favourites also include, The Velvet Underground, Jethro Tull, and Rage Against the Machine.

A more complete break down is on my audioscrobbler page.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of jazz and show tunes.

I don't limit myself to genres, although I generally stay away from heavy metal and other forms of hard rock along with techno and 80's pop music. Recently, I've been listening to a fair bit of acoustic and vocal music (mostly from independant artists), Tom Waits's early stuff, and traditional instrumental Jewish music. How about that for a combination.

presentlyI'm on a bit of a Guns-N-Roses Kick. And the new Electric Six album is brilliant (but no where near the mastery of 'Fire').

Not quite limited to genres myself either. Mostly because the majority of music in any given genre isn't to my liking. I listen to things from Mozart to Tool, Live, Metallica (prefferabley older), Ray Charles, Charlie Parker, Samael... the list goes on.

Mostly Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Björk, that sort of stuff. I don't like metal and that type of music.

Sonny Rollins is the best sax player there is.

I used to be frighteningly into Radiohead and The Smashing Pumpkins but I just slowly got bored of both. The last CDs that I bought were:

Mule Variations - Tom Waits
Blinking Lights and Other Revelations - EELS
Songs For Silverman - Ben Folds
Mach 6 - MC Solaar
Want (1 and 2) - Rufus Wainwright

That's a pretty good sample of what my musical tastes are.

Sonny Rollins isn't the best, but very very good, I think. What about Cannonball Aderly? He's very good too.

Whew... For a minute there I thought you were going to say New Kids on the Block.

Anyone who's into Irish music should check out The Tim Malloy's. Nothing quite like roudy, drunken Irish bar music.

Me? I'm all about the giant orchestra, big band movie scores. Call me weird, but I'm a sucker for a dramatic song. Violin solos rock too. I'm always trying to find a good one.

I'm into pretty much everything except country, rap, pop punk (Blink 182, Simple Plan, s###ty stuff like that), teeny bopper crap and boy bands. Jazz, hardcore punk, rock, metal, emo, showtunes, big band/swing, classical...I love it all.

Hey, now try that other LA band "Quiet Riot" a great band provided they are given a British written song to sing.

I've been on a big Nine Inch Nails kick recently, but I'm starting to get into Coldplay, and the new Gorillaz album is quite good. Waiting patiently for the new Foo Fighters double album in a couple weeks.
