What is the best ship in Ares? To be more exact, what ship can you do the most damage in? What ship can you use to kill the most enemies? What ship do you think is the best overral ship in Ares? This is for any ship in the entire game except for those special ships like gateships, tractor tugs, liners, etc.

My favorite ship is the Eleejeetian Cruiser. Although its shielding ain't that good, its speed is wonderful, its weapons can kill just about everything, and their range is also great!

What is you favorite ship? Comments?

Human HVD tears into carriers like 5th graders into wrapping paper on Xmas Posted Image
The Eleejee cruiser comes in second, as it has no turret and (more importantly) I consider it a special ship.

Nice try, Slug. Jjaro Dreadnought anyday.

(Heh. Maybe after the plugs are out we can have a M:Inv vs. SL plug)

For me it doesn't matter about the Eleejeetian Cruiser being a special ship. This poll is for all ships that you can actually pilot in the game. Besides, the Eleejee Cruiser is so fast it doesn't need any turrets, all you have to do is just fly around your target. Besides, it's only a cruiser.

Can't decide-Human or Ishiman HVD. Probably Ishiman, because it has the lepton beam cannons.

Ohh, how could I forget that - I'm making it, after all.

As for the crossover idea: it might work, but there might be some trouble with reallistically balencing things. The Jjaro seem VERY powerful (and they are in our plug).

I've decided on the race I'll play in MIn levels: UESG. Trust me, there'll be a little bit more fun with those Troopships than you'd think. A StarLance-class dreadnought costs, what, 200 Resources? And that's if you can buy it? For the same price, you could get 25 UESG Troopships = 150 Fighters, all equipped with quickly renewable Fission Torpedoes. So, in the first couple seconds, should you destroy half my forces, I'll still deal well over 7500 damage to you. I'd say that's pretty cost effective. And of course, I could go for dreadnoughts and use lots of Wave-Motion. And if I'm correct, the only weapon capable of obliterating half my forces is the ChronoKinetic Beam Cannon, which is locked forwards. So, Fighters easily sneak up on you from the back, and I'd deal probably about 12500 damage (assuming you can destroy 25 fighters in about two seconds) every two seconds. Actually, I'm not too sure how that arrive action will work, but I think it should work mostly like that.

I'll pass the argument on to Darkk and Sargatanus, who will argue about how the Jjaro would obliterate you - 12.5 resources per Scalpal = 16 Scalpals.

Did I mention the Nebs can get 22 Predators (DN) for that cost, or 71 Beaconships (AC)? (Or 285 Rovers (FT))

--Oh yeah, 25 Troopships = 1250 Troopers and 50 Elite, well enough to take control of the StarLance.

Of course, if we're going to think like that, keep in mind that the Starlance costs way more than that, as everything was supposedly put into it. Now, I'd say more like 1000 reasources, at least. Posted Image

Well, I haven't gotten to any levels where you use an E-thinyg Cruiser, so my vote goes to the Heavy Cruiser. (yes, I said Heavy Cruiser). While it doesn't have quite as much firepower as the HVD, it has enough, and it's both faster and a smaller target. I can avoid those dman Atomic Pulses a lot easier in a HVC than in a HVD. I do have to admit that it gets a little tight in heavy combat, but then, I can stay alive in a HVC longer becuase believe it or not, I take a lot less damage (percentage wise) than in a HVD.

However it lacks a lot of firepower the HVD has.

True, it is a great ship, especially the modified Cruiser. However, I still think the Eleejeetian Cruiser is better. Tons of firepower packed into one tiny, maneuverable package. I mean, er, ship.

Well, HVC still gets my vote as favorite ship, with Sal gunship next.

Using a sal gunship is akin to cheating. There so good!

I like the gatori HVD. It's exactly the same as the ishimian version except it has PKgun instead of a lepton thingy. Plus it's a change in scheme.

The Gatori HVD is the only up-to-date and highly dangerous Gatori ship out there. All the other Gatori ships stink.

So that's 62500 Damage per two seconds... that'd kill a Cantharan Gateship. 125 of the fighters have to be eliminated for even that little. I'm pretty sure UESG tactics would center around the Troopship.

And let's pit a Jjaro dreadnought against it: Jjaro dreadnought faces it, fires, Collide Action: Destroyed. Non-reflexive.

Right on! The Elejeetan cruiser is the perfect ship, best weapons, best speed, and best of all, it's main gun can't run out of energy. What I keep thinking about is that for them, it's only a cruiser. What must their heavy cruisers be like?

Hey, this sounds good and all, but is this like a plug in the making, already released, or what? I want to get my hands on this. Also, besides the Ares home page and associated links, where can i download new scenarios to try? Thanks
By the way, best ship you can pilot is definately the elejeetian cruiser.
