Best Ares Ship

In my own upcoming plugin, the Meson have a ship that fires a super-light torpedoe - so it hits the ship before you fire it. Plus it can generate a circular field of invulnerability for short periods of time. Of course, it's still very vulnerable to disrupters...

Hey, this sounds good and all, but is this like a plug in the making, already released, or what? I want to get my hands on this. Also, besides the Ares home page and associated links, where can i download new scenarios to try? Thanks
By the way, best ship you can pilot is definately the elejeetian cruiser.
Check the engineering department for a topic called "while I'm on the subject...", it's all about that plug.

And let's pit a Jjaro dreadnought against it: Jjaro dreadnought faces it, fires, Collide Action: Destroyed. Non-reflexive.
Not quite, some things are too psycho, even for me. Still, StarLance would have it's work cut out.
Let's assume Pallas is right, and it costs 200 (I'd say Mag's number is more reasonable, but what the hey). That's 3 Jjaro Dreadnoughts. 375 damage per tick is 7500 damage/sec, from just one of their weapons. Add to that the fact that the Jjaro probably outrange it, and it would have some trouble.
Then there's the boarding aspect. And the third weapon, the area missle - an additional 7500 damage/sec.
That totals 15000/sec. The shields are a bit light, with 6250 each, but they have insane range.
Let's not consider Foldships, what with their near-endless supplies of reinforcements.
Oh, and if it IS 1000 resources, 16 Dreadnoughts could do 80000 damage per second. By comparison, the Cantharan Gateship supposedly has 80000 shields (although you never have to do quite that much damage to it, 40000 and then 70000 if I recall).

Personally, my favourite vessel is the Ishiman HVD. Fast, manueverable, and with an assortment of deadly weaponry. I don't judge ships by statistics.

I'm pretty sure UESG tactics would center around the Troopship.
Well, they haven't turned out _quite_ as good as I expected, but they're still pretty good. However, now that I'm working on the S'pht, I might have to say that the S'pht Escort is more fun (I managed to take out a Jjaro Foldship because it wasn't warping fleets, but even without that ability I'm pretty sure it's better than a dreadnought)

Eleejeetian Advantage: They have the largest advantage of any species in the game and their cruiser is invincible. Just image what their other ships, if they had any, are like.

Obiard Advantage: Their Escort Cruiser woops just about any other ship. I've even taken out the main Cantharan Carrier in "Assassins" with one Obish Cruiser.

"Assassins"...That is my favorite level. Though it isn't the longest level, I love to take either my Obish cruiser or Ishiman heavy cruiser and single-handedly trash the Cantharan carrier by the planet while the rest of the alliance rids the other Cantharan fleet.

Nah, Ishiman HVCs don't have enough long range weaponry, while the Obish Cruiser's protopulse cannon has an excellent range and great damage.

Ah, well the Ishiman Heavy Cruiser is an excellent ship. Sure, the Ishiman aren't known for their long range weapons, (except for the pulser beams carried by the Heavy Destroyer) but they can pack quite a punch, are pretty reliable, and are the heroes of the game. The modified heavy cruiser is definately the best in the game...On the last level, "The Gateship," the modified heavy cruiser has an extremely high top speed, and excellent firepower. I used its weapons to destroy three Cantharan carriers on that level, and used asteroids to destroy the other three carriers and the gateship.

Heh, fusion pulse does just as much damage (just barely not as rapid), plus the p-k beams are about 3x rapid, and it's got c-missiles. I think both ships are excellent, although each one has it's own strengths and weaknesses over the other.

Still, I highly dislike the Ishiman HVCs weaponry for Assassins. It stinks, the Obish Cruiser's is much better.
Yeah, sometimes I'll switch over to the Obish Cruiser, but the only advantage I really respect it for is its cloaking device. Besides that, I've grown up with the Ishiman, I guess. Now the Ishiman Heavy Destroyer is another story. That thing is tough, awesome, and will blow anything to pulp is seconds. In multiplayer games, I can usually gain up behind a Salrillian or Aud carrier, and have it in flames with all the nasty firepower the Heavy Destroyer carries.

Remember: The best way to destroy the Gateship on level 21
Manoever An asteroid near the gateship, take out all of its shielding with the weaponry only, without letting it touch the Nastiroid.

For me it doesn't matter about the Eleejeetian Cruiser being a special ship.
In that case, the Modified Cruiser in level 20. . BTW, my vote no longer goes to the HVC, as I've beaten Ares now. En. Cruiers 1st, Eel Cruiser 2nd, and HVC 3rd.
