As you may have noticed, Sundered Angel has been locking some topics over the past few days. Those topics probably deserved extermination, but that's not the point. Instead of a humorous and/or witty comment, SA has jumped on the "locking picture" bandwagon, where mods typically post something obnoxious and remotely related to a lock as a "funny" way to signal a topic's end. Since the other mods seriously lack a sense of humor, the lock pictures are boring, bland, and tasteless to everyone but themselves.

I mean, look at this thing:
Posted Image

Wow, a fiery rusty chain of doom imposed over a nuclear explosion. How...uninteresting.

I say we "persuade"** and protest that Sundered Angel stops using this horrible creation of lameness and returns to simply closing topics with a witty remark.

SA: bring back the creative remarks and rid yourself of evil lock-picture habits forever!

**Persuade means mass mail/email/fax/phone calls, bricks through dorm window, constant postings and board reminders, peer pressure, mass rioting, or anything else you can think of. If you use email click on his name above the topic listing for his personal address but also consider CCing ares@ambrosiasw.com for extra attention

Yes....i was going to make a comment but, since the topics were locked, it seemed....inadvisable. And impossible.

When I saw that image, I thought it was a lock being forged in the fires of Mount Doom, like the One Ring. That would be pretty kickass.

We need to hire a resident graphics guy to make a new, custom lock image. It needs a squid, and the "Ares" logo, and maybe a trash can or 42.

The all-knowing and generally lovable Mr. Welch decided that it had very little to do with the spirit of Ares. We responded to the effect that it carried with it the spirit of Trash Talk but then he threatened to send Hector out to covertly poison our pineapple milkshakes so we decided to just let it drop.

Not anymore, they got discontinued with the commencement of SA's lock image. Get rid of the image, bring back the comments, and you'll get milkshakes once again.

I'll make it your vendetta as well. But it can't stop with the nuclear lock, its gotta be any and all lock pictures SA attempts to use in a suicidal move to destruction. He temporarily has lost his sense of reason and we must restore it to him, or we are all doomed.

If, but tripps is the one with the admin passwords, not I.

I have "other means" though, but the fallout won't be pretty.

Putting a hex on a stuffed shrimp in the hopes that SA will become mildly ill the next time he plays frisbee golf (or "frolf" if you prefer), while potentially not pretty, certainly won't influence his decision to keep or discard his nuclear lock photograph in any great way. Posted Image

-Pufer

edit: I might also add that I rather like the idea of a nuclear lock picture, unlike SA though, I'd probably superimpose it on a picture of the Grable shot or perhaps place a lock picture in the background of the Stilton Hushed Echo test's logo instead of the blue oval (heck, SA could even change the "S.H.E." to read "S.A.L." for Sundered Angel Lock).

A few things:

I like frolf.

What does frolf have to do with stuffed shrimp?

I don't quite get this whole thing much..it's just a picture. Although it's true that i liked SA's witty remarks upon closing topics better.

Shrout, nice try, but its still a lock picture, which defeats the purpose.

Because everybody else does it, to the extent that its an extremely overused and unoriginal idea. Some people even go out of their way to lock topics just to show off their shiny new lock picture. ATT is losing its uniqueness.

By most boards' standards, all of our topics can be classified as being lockable. Let's just keep it as it is.
