I concur with Pallas about Danath. It's a decent climate in very strategically sound location. Once we get that foothold however, we may consider looking towards the Fatax-Lutra-Osculiath triangle (which I'll simply refer to as the FLO triangle). Quadros and Utopos can't be colonized by rivals and can always wait. The FLO triangle on the otherhand is open for a land grab and I assume will be taken in the not too distant future. A solid presence on the other end of the galaxy via the FLO triangle would greatly increase our strategic options and later our income; I could see some serious bulk missions coming from Tralf and Danath to nourish our new colonies.

Hehe, we could quietly starve them into submission Posted Image (just kidding).

Alright, I understand your motives for staying in the North. I thought that if we moved quickly enough, we could take the FLO triangle on the ground floor, before the competition moved in, but the strategy we have adopted sounds better now that you've hammered out the details.

On a side note: I just settled into a brand new Buzzard. I'm off to settle some scores on our hit list... Posted Image

I know what you mean, they *would* make for a centralized power, so they will probably get taken soon. However, we do have another option.

When I talked to Limax, he indicated that he intended on colonizing I-010. However, since there isn't an unihabited planet there, that probably isn't an option. It might be worth our while to instead support an NSF presence in the FLO triangle. We wouldn't have to split our own presence, and we could still adhere to an official policy of neutrality.

Pat: Could you meet me on irc some time today? I have a possible military option to advise you on, and I don't want to discuss it here.

Pallas: Whats NSF?

Ouch. Volkov is on the rampage again, according to the INN. I passed him today on a trade route, and I saw that he's in a Goliath. Only short range weapons, though. Hmm...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the FLO triangle is already taken. While your colony ship was still flying around, I paid CheesEV the 1 million so I could create a gov't of my own. I told him to send the Confederate Colony ship to Fatax.

If I may ask, why Fatax? It's directly on the path between the NA and the Consortium, which means it's probably a high-traffic system. Had you taken Lutra, then you would be backed into a defensible corner, with two independent planets behind you for the taking.

Erm, whoops. I missed that part of the post. It's nice, that you'd all like to help me out, but how would you do that? I heard you intended to ally with the NA in the long-run, but the problem there is that I intend to be allied with the consortium.

Dunno, it's been several days and I haven't even heard from CheesEV. I'd like to get my colony ship launched ASAP, but either he's unable to do it or can't be bothered.

Sorry about the delay Limax, I should probably write something in the guide that gov creation needs to wait until the weekend (lots of pages to alter). In the meantime, is there a specific shade of the color you selected that you want? (if you could send me the hex values, that'd be great Posted Image )

To the UNSET people: So, what planet will it be?

For the time being, we definitely intend on remaining neutral - and I expect you'll stay out of Consortium/NA politics while you're still developing. We'll see where things stand after that - we can't decide on a long term foreign policy now.

CheesEv: Danath [We decided it was generally better, and Limax is taking the triangle anyway]

Wait, we never actually decided on what to rename Tralf (or if we would), and now we have Danath to consider as well. Cast two votes, #1 is Tralf's new name, and #2 is Danath's.

I'm voting for Lalande and Upsilon Andromedae, in honor of recent discoveries-
Recently, scientists have detected maser emissions from 3 star systems. They're a type of microwave emission that may come from - of all things - water. Upsilon Andromedae has the clearest signs, and is 50 LY away from Earth. Emissions have also been detected in Lalande 21185 (8LY away) and Epsilon Eridani (10LY away). See the Sept. 21 New Scientist for more information.
</lecture>

I'll keep a running list of votes here:
Lalande: 2 (Pallas, Sarg)
Upsilon Andromedae: 2 (Pallas, Sarg)
Tralf: 2 (Mag, Avatara)
Obain: 2 (DanMan, Avatara)
Ishima: 1 (DanMan)
Palyos: 1 (Mag)

Sure, I'll back Pallas' system names. Oh, and I have 500k for a colony ship to those interested in investing in another one.

I really don't care about the system names. I kinda like the name Tralf, though.

I'm not fond of Lalonde, I'd prefer Tralf over that.

No, Apoc. Without a doubt Apoc. It's a lush planet, about to be "colonized by the LN", and the LN isn't a player gov by my understanding.

It's also in relatively safe area. It's close to the Consortium/NA border, but not on a direct route between the two. This would make an excelent site to use as our presence on that side of the galaxy.

All right, but I'll go on record and say that I think that a darker purple, #660088 for instance, would look nice.

By the way, check the news.

Alright, make it #660088 please.

I'm going to suggest that we try and make some sort of appeal to the LN to maybe get some fleet protection until we get our own fleets up. Anyone back this if it's possible?

Apoc it is, then, although CheesEv might cause the LN to do naughty things to us for colonizing their planet. And it'd certainly make it harder to get protection from their fleets.

How's the graphics for our cruisers coming? And the creation of our cruisers, for that matter.

And when are we going to post our statement of intentions?

Perhaps Apoc is a bit of a leap? We just might be spreading a bit too thin, and perhapse we should hold off on the expansion rush for a while. Just because we can afford the colony ships doesn't mean we need to build them. I suggest you all invest in your ships for the time being. 500k is a long way towards a solid vessle.

The INN said it was a Confederate ship, not consortium. And the NA are simply liars looking for an excuse to pirate yet another independent in the name of freedom.

I'm still very very bummed about that, but I do intend to have a comeback.
