True. Colony ships don't actually get us much right away, and we will need to be readily combat capable quite soon. If I don't get pirated (which I will, I've got a giant, bright red bullseye on me) and don't give 500k to a colony ship, I can have an attack corvette by the end of the week. I'm toying with the idea of getting a goliath and doing a mix of bulk missions and pirating pirates until I can have the money for my attack corvette. It would be theoretically more stable, but theory differs from practice, and it would be quite a gamble.

I think we should look into the pruchase of Montar and Turok now that we have Danath. They're developed planets, meaning they should provide more income than Tralf or Danath, and we can defend them easily with a single fleet. After that, we should purchase the Gunship, since some of us may soon be able to afford one.

On the subject of planet names: If you look at Quadros, Tralf, I-212, F-001, Montar, and Turok, you'll notice a vague hexagonal shape. I had figured that Sol was probably at the center of that ring, so I wouldn't want to call a colonized system "Sol."

Another delay on the Cruiser: apparently, it's too good. I proposed some revisions, and with luck, it will be available by tonight.

Good point. I'm changing my votes to Ishima and Obain (for the renaming of Tralf and Danath).
I'm working on planet descriptions for our colonies, but I'll post them here first (in case any of you want to make changes). I'll ask Lord CheesEv to add them only when we finish voting on the new names.

So then, Mag and Avatara still have a vote to cast each, and Patrick has both of his. Currently, it's a 3-way tie, so we'll need them to decide.

I vote Tralf for Tralf, and Palyos for Danath.

If we're really trying hard to keep with the story of Ares, Tralf should be Ishima...

Tralf for Tralf, its a nice name. And either Ishima or Obain for Danath. It doesn't really matter, whichever one of those has the most votes for Danath.

If I don't give any money to colony ships and such, and keep getting lucky with bulk missions and no pirates, I can have a shiny new attack corvette in Tangier in three days...

What's a good trading route? I'm tired of waiting for bulk missions and have 310 tons to fill.

I have found that buying weapons at Nasril and selling them at Turok is most profitable, earning 4k for every 10 tons (minus escort fees, you end up with about 3k/10t profit).

Unfortunately, Sarg, you're at Turok right now, so it would take you 2 turns to start getting cash that way. In the mean time, see if you can line up a string of missions where you don't need to land.

To quote the Government Info page, we now earn 200K credits per day, and have 700K deposited. We can already purchase the gunship without seriously draining our cash reserves - and it seems that some of us can already afford one. We might also want to purchase the Fighter/Fighter bay, since we can have 50 tons or more of space available.

I think that the name Tralf has pretty much set in by now. So, I'll ask Patrick to cast the deciding vote between Lalande, Upsilon Andromedae, Ishima, and Obain. As soon as that's settled, we can create the fleets that will defend Tralf and [insert name here].

Aye, I could use better ship. My Jaeger is starting to make a thumping sound whenever I hit the throttle.

We now have 2 defense fleets - one at Tralf, and one at Danath. Fleets are treated as players, so you would login to them. I sent the login name and password of the Tralf fleet to Sarg and Avatara, and those of the Danath fleet to Mag and DanMan. One of them (not sure which) should have the cash to buy a cruiser.

Excellent. Now the Danath system is being patrolled by a Njord class cruiser. By the way, I know the gov is a bit tight for cash right now, but how do the fleets get more money?

The Government treasury distributes cash among the different fleets (it can distribute income among them too). That cash is then used to buy ships - not sure about escorts.

I'll send a message to CheesEv authorizing payment for the Gunship (I'll make up the 20K difference myself). I doubt it will get implemented before the weekend, but we will definitely be able to afford them by then.

(One a side note, Cruiser->FirstKill=today)

Pallas, have you contacted CheesEV about the escorts you promised me?

Limax: I've paid for 3 of the Cruisers, and more will be paid for by the end of the week.

Mag: No work, unfortunately. Too lazy.

Don't expect anything. Nathan Lamont never actually licensed us the models of the Human ships.

We will do our best to return the favor to the UNSET when we're on our feet. Many thanks.

My second kill - Volkov. Über.

And it was in one of these:

Technically speaking, 1/4 of those pixels are copyrighted, but I think the 75% that I drew are enough to consider it "original."

So what you could do is blot out the 25% that are copyrighted, leaving the 75% that you drew, then draw the additional 25%, and it would be completely original. Posted Image

Very nice, Pallas!

The ship is very well done, and nailing Volkov with is is the icing on the cake!

Oh, one more thing, I'm going to speak up for Patrick and ask that you give him the fleet names and passwords. After all, he is our president. He was reluctant to ask, but I figure he deserves as much.

I've been thinking. Because it's officially not nice to send defense fleets out of our territory, that makes them mostly useless. We buy ships so they can sit there and keep people with weaker ships from wanting to land there. All it does is keeps bad people away.

Now, we could construct mobile fleets, by choosing somebody on our side and donating them money to buy a nice ship and hire nice escorts, and they could romp about the galaxy causing mayhem instead of sitting there looking pretty.

With those thoughts in mind, I'm considering buying a cruiser and hiring four cruiser escorts (I have the cash without extra donations) and going for a spin. Think I should?
