I'm glad the community has banded together to give a decisive 2-2 vote to settle this matter once and for all. Thanks guys, that totally cleared up all of my confusion!

I might be wrong, but I thought grey was the British spelling and gray was American? (Hence my vote for grey ^_~) Knowing how you feel about British spellings though, I would have expected you to go with the American spelling of this colour.
I'll become even more undignified than this

I usually prefer the American spelling in most cases, but I admit to using "grey" pretty much exclusively (to the point I call my cat Greyson as opposed to Grayson).
