Well, Avatara claims that 453 is going to post a Fall chron challenge. I’ll give her the benefit of a doubt—for another week, at least—and make this a Halloween chron challenge.

Note: this challenge assumes familiarity with the Trial/Hym/Outcast series. In addition, most of the chron challenges have involved parody in some form or other. It occurs to me it might be interesting to have some more serious stories resulting from chron challenges. So, for a change, I’m going to have two options: one serious (maybe) and one less so.

Also, Avatara is probably expecting that this challenge will involve doing something horrible to his character. I resent that expectation!

I don’t deny its accuracy, but I resent it all the same :P !

Challenge:
Write a chronicle set on the night of Halloween, taking place at a time after Avatara has left Cythera but before he has confronted Icel, in which he is haunted by the ghosts of his past (figuratively or literally is up to you).

Requirements (for a humorous story):
-Should be posted by Halloween
-Avatara must reminisce about his favorite Halloween costumes: Barney the dinosaur and Jar-Jar Binks
-Moonshadow should be trying to kill Avatara for starting the trend of getting her killed with regularity in various chrons
-Retsy-wraith should be the main ghost haunting Avatara
-Katerei must appear only when giving reasons why she hasn’t started on a Sail sequel
-Avatara must suffer lots of (comedic) angst!

Requirements (for a more serious story):
-Should be posted by Halloween
-Avatara must ponder the fate of old friends (Rogan, Theo, etc.)
-Avatara must wonder what will become of Katerei and what Selax is planning
-The setting must be somewhat bleak and conducive to melancholy musing
-The story must end on a pensive note
-Avatara must suffer lots of (dramatic) angst!

You know, by encouraging her, not only are you depriving everyone of more backstory chrons detailing canon-world Kat's life, but you're also discouraging efforts to get her to participate in the TS. Novel-mode Kat doesn't focus a lot on non-novel-related projects. :(
"Sometimes I get confused whether I'm posting on ATT or in the War Room. But then I remind myself: If it's moderators acting scatter-brained and foolish, then it's the War Room*.

*Unless it's Avatara, of course."

You have got to be really determined to be miserable to see Kat writing a novel as a bad thing :[
I'll become even more undignified than this

Says the person who didn't comment on ED1 for a month and a half (and only when we struck a deal.)

Well, obviously, she should find a way to do all three! She could give up sleeping, for instance.

This might be a bad time to mention I'm writing something totally unrelated for NaNoWriMo this year.

I don't know, October seems like probably the best time to mention that.

Really? I was all set on keeping it a secret until December.

Well, I have posted something. It's more rushed than I would like, but hopefully it's not as bad as I think it is.
