NaNoWriMo is eating my brain from the inside out, but I officially hit my goal of 50 000 words. :D

Thanks for the chapters, and big congrats on finishing your nanowrimo goal so quickly! ^_^

Sad chapters, but I guess that's to be expected in a story leading up to Dark Mirror. I wonder what will happen next!

I'm curious about the origins of Suriel. Is he from this world? Is he a regular tel-saidu? Is there any reason why he's evil? (I guess I wonder why alt-Selax is evil in DM/OoR too.)
I'll become even more undignified than this

Congratulations on achieving your goal :) .

I wonder if there would have been a confrontation between the humans and the viirelei was inevitable or, after learning one would be speaking at the inquiry, if Suriel caused it in to prevent the two from working together and sharing knowledge. I suspect some combination of the two. At any rate, the situation seems to be rapidly deteriorating, and I'm curious to see what happens next.

As for alt-Selax's ambitions, they are partially discussed here.

He's somewhat more powerful and influential due to never going dormant. His 'evilness' is also linked to his reason for staying awake, which has some connections to the plot of DM, but it's a secret for now. ;)

I'm not sure I understand this sentence.

I think Sely's just wondering whether Suriel caused the confrontation between the Caladheå council and the viirelei. He thinks it would be in Suriel's character to have caused that.

It would be in his character, wouldn't it? :)

Honestly, I don't have an answer. A lot of forces would have different motivations for engineering that conflict, and I think it's more fun to leave it open to interpretation.

My apologies, the sentence should read: I wonder if the confrontation between the humans and the viirelei was inevitable or, if after learning one would be speaking at the inquiry, Suriel caused it in to prevent the two from working together and sharing knowledge.
