I know this chapter is what you've all been waiting for, and I'm excited to share it. Finally, some familiar faces from DM. :D

I changed a few things in the previous chapters, but it's not enough to warrant me reposting or you re-reading, so there might be a few things that seem out of place or don't make sense. Feel free to point them out in case I do actually need to fix them. For the first part, remember that Kateiko's on hallucinogenic drugs.

[scrubbed]

So, Nisali is planning to return home. I wondered what would happen to her character, but I'm also doubtful whether returning is as easy as it seems. I suppose we'll find out in a later chapter.

Excellent work as always :) .

Selax, only you would use her full name that only adults use.

I happen to like a sense of formality now and again :P , although I almost used the shortened form before remembering that it was the shortened form. Also, I'm not necessarily the only one: 453 used Kateiko's full name in her comment on the last chron.

…okay, so what I take from this is Kansans are excessively formal. :P

Since when am I formal? I just wanted to use K's new name! ^_^ Nice chapter, Kat! That was well worth the wait!

Moonshadow's rounded ears threw me off. Is she a human in this story, to simplify? Was she a human in DM/OoR & I never knew?

I look forward to more! :D I wonder if more explanation about K's past will be given, and why she's so angry at everyone.
I'll become even more undignified than this

She was an elf in DM/OoR, but there are no elves in my story. Technically all my characters are different races of human.

Teenage angst. :D

Is there anything in particular you want to know about her past? More will be given eventually, but I haven't decided what or when.

I keep coming across weird linguistic and cultural coincidences. I based the Sverbian culture and language off a blend of Dutch and Old Norse (Marijke is a Dutch female name.) I was just researching Dutch folklore and came across the concept of Witte Wieven:

"Witte wieven literally means white women today, but "wise women" in dialects of the Low Saxon language of the Netherlands. … Historically, the witte wieven are thought to be wise women, herbalists and medicine healers who took care of people's physical and mental ailments."

"According to mythology, their spirits remained on earth, and they became living spirits (or elven beings) … The people of Friesland, Drenthe and the Netherlands have just as much to tell of their written wijven or juffers in hills and caverns ... though here they get mixed up with elvish personages."

Make of that what you will. :)

Wowev, cool! I wonder if Day used those myths when originally developing her character? It seems to fit really well!

She might have referenced them intentionally, or was just thinking about them subconsciously. There seems to be a lot of overlap between myths in Germanic cultures so she's probably heard of them.
